If you are a front line worker, have you had your vaccine yet?

And if so, when and what is your role?

I was quite surprised to be asked to book a vaccine, I work in a health and social care role and surprised to hear of others in professions such as dentists and paramedics etc who haven't yet been invited to book theirs.

I hope those who are in roles working closely with the public, particularly in health care/ caring services get their invite soon! I feel guilty taking up a place knowing others in a vulnerable setting havent yet had the opportunity to book theirs.

Close family works in a non frontline role, vaccine had
Other close family member is ward manager of covid unit, no vaccine

No sense

Mustardbay · 21/01/2021 19:50

I'm a dental nurse and I've bot heard anything, getting a bit concerned now.

wlv12 · 21/01/2021 19:57

I’m a community midwife, had my vaccine on Tuesday.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 21/01/2021 20:03

I'm a radiographer and work on the frontline
Had mine today.

Schuyler · 21/01/2021 20:03

Social worker with vulnerable adults, in and out of hospitals and care homes - still waiting.

Isla2021 · 21/01/2021 20:03

@icdododo what, really? This doesn't make sense. What field of work are they in? Are they CEV?

Makes no sense

I feel so guilty booking a space when there are others out there in positions where they have greater exposure than me 😞 (albeit I do work with the public and potential long exposure)

@Mustardbay I really thought the dentistry/paramedic etc field would be before me!!

Do you have strict procedures in your practice? I recently went to the dentist and horrified that he was only wearing a visor, no mask!

Job as per my username, had mine yesterday. It’s been available before now but only between the hours of 9am-5pm and surprisingly I don’t have much spare time in my working day, so had to go after a night shift. Glad to have had it now all the same.

Isla2021 · 21/01/2021 20:07

@wlv12
@Carrotcakeforbreakfast

Glad to hear you have both had your jabs! Which one was it? Have you had any symptoms?

I'm scheduled for next Friday.. pfizer jab!

IDontDrinkTea · 21/01/2021 20:08

Had mine two weeks ago, I’m a midwife who coordinates the consultant led labour suite

Isla2021 · 21/01/2021 20:09

@ICUNurse glad you have had yours now, I thought your role would have been prioritised back in December, but can understand the delay with the time restrictions!

When I booked mine I was surprised how many time slots there were available, evening slots too until half 7! Its such a shame its not consistent across the country for others to be able to access the service outside of office hours

Retail worker. No one gives a fig if we catch it, or get the vaccine.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 21/01/2021 20:10

@Isla2021 I had the pfizer one too. My mum had her oxford jab today she is ECV.

No symptoms yet. Had it at 8 this morning and my arm feels a little achy but that's it.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 21/01/2021 20:11

My trust have just started 24 hour vaccination clinics. So that's really good news.

manicinsomniac · 21/01/2021 20:12

I don't think anybody's differentiated within the NHS by role. Maybe it would be too time consuming to do so. I know a psychologist working from home, a speech therapist and someone who works in custody services assessing mental health who have all had theirs. But also know a paramedic who hasn't.

Mummydoctor · 21/01/2021 20:12

GP here. Had it 2 weeks ago after spending the day vaccinating the over 80s. It was one of the ‘spare’ Pfizer doses.

sabrinathemiddleagewitch · 21/01/2021 20:13

Front line government worker

Get it sometime in 2021 when they give a toss

perfectdoesntexist · 21/01/2021 20:13

I work in children's social care and had mine yesterday

JenIsAGem · 21/01/2021 20:16

I work in an opticians and my doctors said I'm 'in group 6' and they're 'only in group 2', purely age based apparently, they didn't seem to know anything about frontline workers getting vaccinated before/same time as the elderly Confused

Ponoka7 · 21/01/2021 20:16

My DD is a manager for a company which runs multiple occupancy houses for people who have MH issues and a complex diagnosis. Her Staff have all had the vaccine last week.

I've got people on my FB who've had theirs who are, Nurses, Home care and residential Care Assistants. We are on Merseyside. A neighbour who is 77 has had his, we are now on the 75's.

The one that's had the vaccine is close to retirement age, so old but not that old

The one who hasn't is young/fit/healthy

But to me it still makes no sense and I worry a lot for them

wlv12 · 21/01/2021 20:18

@Isla2021 I had the Pfizer jab. Only had it 2 days ago, I feel exhausted and achy - however.
My mum died of covid on Christmas Day and it was her funeral yesterday so unsure if how I’m feeling is due to exhaustion as I’ve not slept well since mid December or due to the vaccine!

The jab itself was fine and I barely felt it. Good luck!

mummabubs · 21/01/2021 20:22

My profession in the NHS isn't why I've had the vaccine, but more the environment I work in. I'm based on an inpatient hospital ward where all the patients are classed as CEV and we've had several outbreaks of covid over the last few months.

Isla2021 · 21/01/2021 20:26

@TheWhiffThatKeepsOnGiving we could not have got through this pandemic without retail workers!!!! Has there been any suggestion as to what group you would fall in?

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast I am now craving carrot cake, argh!!

Great news about the 24 hour system, I hope this will be extended across the UK to speed up the process, assuming there are no issues with stock!

@manicinsomniac to me this approach just doesn't make sense!! In our organisation only those in front line roles are able to book in, even then there are still teams who are front line who will be in the next group (based on type of work and exposure)

@Mummydoctor great you've had yours! Are any of the left over vaccines ever disposed of? Hopefully this isn't the case Sad
