If you are a front line worker, have you had your vaccine yet?

And if so, when and what is your role?

I was quite surprised to be asked to book a vaccine, I work in a health and social care role and surprised to hear of others in professions such as dentists and paramedics etc who haven't yet been invited to book theirs.

I hope those who are in roles working closely with the public, particularly in health care/ caring services get their invite soon! I feel guilty taking up a place knowing others in a vulnerable setting havent yet had the opportunity to book theirs.

I work in early years, so no chance of any kind of social distancing from the dc. We are not even eligible for lateral flow testing unless we drive 10 miles to the nearest testing site (unlike other roles who are in close contact with others and are being regularly tested to make sure they aren’t passing it on). I get licked, kissed, sneezed and breathed on More times a day than I care to think about. No vaccines For us. But don’t forget, we can’t get COVID. Boris said so.

I'm a doctor working in paediatrics and had mine just over a week ago. Our trust started vaccinating at start of new year but priority were vulnerable staff, followed by rest.
Our organisation is also pretty good at ensuring doses are all used up-they send comms out each day informing whether they will take walk ins and timings so those who haven't booked can attend.

It made me feel pretty rough for 24hrs but I had fortunately managed to get a slot where I wasn't working following day as sickness post vaccine is also impacting attendance right now

I work with adults who had learning disabilities. Manager has said we can get ours done but I’m really nervous :(

Shehz21 · 21/01/2021 22:59

My DH has had his first dose 2 weeks ago, he works in our local hospital's A&E dept.

MadameTuffington · 21/01/2021 23:04

I work in Health & Social Care and have worked through a hideous outbreak in the first wave - tested pos twice - the first time symptomatic but not the second.

I had the first dose of the Pfizer Biontech vaccine at the end of December and will receive my second in March - other people presenting for vaccine with me were careworkers, those in their 90s and ICU and Respiratory Ward Nurses.

I feel blessed tbh.

Teacher. No one cares whether we get them or not. Social workers who are too scared to go into schools and have been working from home, have had their's in our area.
I bloody care - I think all teachers should get a vaccine asap 🙏
tobee · 21/01/2021 23:12

I care very much about retailers, school staff and anybody else gets the vaccine. I think about you all a lot fwiw.

Stalmida · 21/01/2021 23:12

Police officer. Absolutely no mention as to when we might get ours yet.

Saz12 · 22/01/2021 10:24

I had Pfizer one about 3 weeks ago.

It feels very unfair that I’ve had mine above others. However they called me up, and Ive been told it’s logistically easy (relatively!) to get it into the arms of people who will drive 40+ minutes to central location, arrive at relatively short notice, happily queue outdoors in winter for up to 2 hours, etc. The system for anyone elderly or infirm has to be different and generally less efficient (or CEV, as queuing at 2metre distance with mask is “as safe as possible” rather than “risk free”), to do that.

I wok with vulnerable adults; I haven’t told many IRL that I’ve had the vaccine as I’m sure I’d get a barrage of “it’s not fair” as a result.

Ultimately decisions were made on a population-wide basis on which groups are most likely to impact hospitals, they’re not based on individual risk assessments or fairness.

I think teachers should be prioritised, and police.

I heard teachers in special schools can be vaccinated as carers, which is right too.

@CovoidOfAllHumanity

We were told very firmly no 2nd dose for 12 weeks.
We were too, but then gp friend (same area) who is mainly doing phone consultations has managed to get a second one after 3 weeks....not sure how, but feels unfair when we are ward based.
Watermelon999 · 22/01/2021 10:42

@Larkin01

I’m a GP, had Pfizer, our PCN gave frontline workers both doses and I feel very lucky about that.
I really wish ours did too, but we were told no, even staff on covid wards.
Alocasia · 22/01/2021 10:46

Optician. Had mine this week. It’s a relief as I’ve been very scared at work, 8 hours in a small unventilated room with lots of different people in a day. I had the Oxford one.

Inspirationpending · 22/01/2021 10:47

Had 1st dose of Pfizer start of January, no 2nd dose for 12 weeks.

Work on a ward with daily contact with covid patients.

Poppyseeds2 · 22/01/2021 10:49

No. I haven’t NHS hospital. CSW role in plastic and surgery ward.

starfish4 · 22/01/2021 10:56

Work in pharmacy. Booked Wednesday, had the AstraZeneca the next day.

We were given access to the booking system which the doctors, nurses and other healthcare teams use. Centre attached to the hospital are doing one a minute with other locations. I chose another local pharmacy as it's easier to get to and to be honest, the area is much safer. Told to book second vaccine in 4-12 weeks.

Arrierttyclock · 22/01/2021 11:03

Dental nurse in a hospital, I had mine almost 3 weeks ago through work. DH is a dentist and had his this morning through work

Arrierttyclock · 22/01/2021 11:04

In the hospital everyone's offered it no matter what their role is

RobinHumphries · 22/01/2021 12:09

Dentist - had mine last Saturday

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 23/01/2021 00:05

Daughter is wearing masks and multiple staff / students have gone down with covid. Teaching so nothing.

AutumnColours9 · 23/01/2021 00:50

I am an OT working with vulnerable patients and had both my jabsSmile

Gooseysgirl · 23/01/2021 01:16

I had my first dose (Pfizer) last week, I'm working one day per week in a patient facing role and was surprised I was offered, as we are definitely not front line. Everyone in our trust (London area) was offered the vaccine regardless of role, full time staff were prioritised first before the rest of us were offered - fair enough!! We've got ten weeks until our second shot.

OpheliasCrayon · 23/01/2021 10:17

@KatherineOfGaunt

I'm an SEN teacher but in a mainstream school. I probably won't get mine until the summer at the earliest, along with my age group, despite having to spend all day in close proximity to our pupils, including intimate care. It's frustrating!

My DH will probably get his before me because he's just over 50. But he's a SAHD!

I don't begrudge anyone their vaccine, even a friend who's NHS admin who's been WFH since March, because that's just the way it's being done. I can't change that. But I can hope that my council will consider SEN staff for an earlier vaccine if it's possible. Even if it's just a case of being on a list and called up if there are "spare" doses at the end of the day.

I'm an SEN teacher in an SEN school we are getting them next week (well I'm not due to allergies ) I have friends in SEN schools who have had them already. Unfortunately no mention of SEN in mainstream though.
Isla2021 · 25/01/2021 16:16
