That is a ludicrous looking beast, but an excellent name. Beaten only by the puffling for the best baby animal name.

I found this a really useful article for understanding better the science behind schools. For me positive because understanding the balanced scientific opinion rather than media spins is much better for understanding what is going on. And lots of bits of positivity for what might happen and is realistic https://schoolsweek.co.uk/covid-19-nine-things-we-learned-from-scientists-at-education-committee/?mccid=f0ed556937&mcceid=dc06f247e6&fbclid=IwAR22hu8uocQ6wmqgMP3qmaovQ-gReHFT3ZckOKqNQfBMN5qlDbGgtR3UMk

There's an article in the Telegraph (can you tell I forked out the £1 on their intro deal) about how we came to make the decision to part ways with the EU in vaccine procurement back in July.

Speaking to The Telegraph on condition of anonymity, multiple Whitehall sources said the decision taken by then-business secretary Alok Sharma in early July had freed this country to lead the world in rolling out the lifesaving jabs.

“At the time, a lot of people said it was madness. They said it was putting Brexit over lives,” one senior official said.

“At the time, a lot of people said it was madness. They said it was putting Brexit over lives,” one senior official said.

“But whether you agree or disagree with the decision to leave the EU, if we were still a member state we wouldn’t be this far ahead.”

I think this is the good news corrective when vaccine numbers fluctuate and it meets a wave of, "well of course we're fucking it up" on the coronavirus board generally.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/01/2021 08:31

Agreed, fourtea. I avoid all things Brexitty here, but I'm awfully inclined to point out our relative vaccine success, and avoidance of the politicking that has surrounded the purchase of EU vaccines. ( Macron insisting on the purchase of equal numbers of Sanofi ones, for example, which have been seriously "delayed". For which I read"require a lot more work").
However I'm nowhere near brave enough to venture any opinion on a brexit thread.

FourTeaFallOut · 20/01/2021 08:35

I'm a leave/ labour voter. But I'm not so black and white about by political views that I can't see when things have worked well.

FourTeaFallOut · 20/01/2021 08:36

I've lost the ability to edit and type today, I'm going to get a coffee before I post again. Grin
