Fine- a few ambulances, lots of food shops and pound shops open, coffee clutching hipsters everywhere

mynameiscalypso · 16/01/2021 21:24

As normal as things can be really in a pandemic. Not noticeably quieter than the last few months.

WorraLiberty · 16/01/2021 21:24

Cold and rainy

AnnaSW1 · 16/01/2021 21:26

Too rainy!

Egghead68 · 16/01/2021 21:27

Yes but don’t know. Haven’t been out. It’s raining and there seem to be postal delays.

FabbyMagic · 16/01/2021 21:27

Dunno, I’m either in my house or going for walk round common (busy!), or occasional trip to Sainsbury’s..... nothing particular to report! Why?

bookworm14 · 16/01/2021 21:28

Cold and wet. I’m not sure how you’re expecting it to be? There aren’t corpses piled in the streets or anything.

Cold and floody

StillGoingToWork · 16/01/2021 21:32

Boring as hell.

It's the groups of teenagers hanging out together that gets me, especially during the day. Er, school? And the fact you're not meant to be out in groups?

Saw a couple in their dotage in M&S food chatting to different staff, reading the magazines and inspecting the sweets the other day, like they were on a jolly.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 16/01/2021 21:33

My part of London pretty much everyone wearing a mask out, shops that are open enforce the rules, lots of people still working, vaccine roll out on the 70s group and it is raining a lotSmile

Lunaballoon · 16/01/2021 21:35

The paths around our local parks in south London have become like giant human hamster wheels!

StillGoingToWork · 16/01/2021 21:36

If you mean is there someone with a bell shouting "Bring Out Your Dead!" in the street I think you might be disappointed. Grin

ICUNurse · 16/01/2021 21:38

Out on the street everything is as normal, people are acting as if nothing is happening. Things are closed of course and masks in shops and on public transport, but other than that you wouldn’t know anything is happening. I work in ICU in a central London teaching hospital and the situation is absolutely dire. Not just in ICU actually but on the wards as well. It’s much, much worse than the first wave and actually beyond my worst nightmares. The fact is quite simply that if you need Intensive care now, (for covid or any other reason) you will not receive good care. You may survive, due to the exceptional efforts of NHS staff but the nurse looking after you will either be looking after multiple other critically ill patients or alternatively may have no ICU experience at all.

I’m so fearful for the coming weeks, my patients and the mental health of myself and my colleagues.

Tavannach · 16/01/2021 21:40

As good as they can be. The parks are still rammed and a lot of people still not walking 2 metres apart or wearing masks. But more people are cautious - the staff at the local Tesco metro have all started wearing masks, presumably they've been told to. It's cold and wet and the snow didn't show so that's disappointing.

UncomfortableSilence · 16/01/2021 21:40

Cold, wet, lots of people walking. Most people following the rules, some not so much. Nice long queue outside our library today with people waiting for their vaccination. Local hospital struggling but standard for this time of year, covers a very large part of East London. Cases are coming down considerably so that's a positive.

niceupthedance · 16/01/2021 21:42

Lots of people walking about aimlessly

georgarina · 16/01/2021 21:43

Fine. Much quieter than usual. Got caught between a kid shouting at a shopkeeper in Tesco this afternoon for asking him to wear a mask.

Affor · 16/01/2021 21:44

I agree with rainy. Feels quiet on the streets but the parks are rammed. And the groups of teenage boys hanging out in Hackney is really starting to piss me off!

Quartz2208 · 16/01/2021 21:47

No snow! Just rain

Ok local park is full of people. Some wearing masks some not

Smile3 · 16/01/2021 21:47

😂😂

Smile3 · 16/01/2021 21:48

Sorry that was @StillGoingToWork

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 16/01/2021 21:48

Live in central London - very quiet
too central for big parks to know if they're crowded

there seem to be fewer ambulances about compared to just after Christmas - both outside home and when I went supermarket shopping last weekend and 3 weeks ago.

Just had a positive test result back, so feeling a bit shit Sad

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 16/01/2021 21:49

& lots more people wearing masks on the street

Sunplanetearth8 · 16/01/2021 21:51

Cold, wet and boring! But busy in the london zone 2 /3 / etc parks. Have heard it’s eerily quiet in the city. Good for a bike ride I guess!

Well, parks are busy on the weekend but quieter on weekdays when kids are homeschooling and adults working.
