Would you chose the pfizer or oxford vaccine?

I had mine yesterday as I’m a health care worker. I had a choice of 2 locations and the one I went to did the pfizer vaccine as it was in a hospital and had freezer storage. If I had picked the other location I would have got the Oxford one.

Didn’t know this before I booked which is just as well as I would have ended up researching it for ages, but just out of curiosity would you have chosen one over the other?

Pfizer cause I'm still not convinced how effective the aztra zenaca one is. I'm way down the line though, so it'll be ages and will happily take whichever is offered.

MossandRoy · 16/01/2021 08:41

Oxford, because I 'cannot' have the Pfizer one due to previous anaphylaxis.

hettyhooverdoover · 16/01/2021 08:42

I wanted the Pfizer one and did end up getting it.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 16/01/2021 08:43

I have had covid, it was very mild and I didn't have any long term effects, so I suppose I would take the Oxford one and leave a Pfizer jab for someone more vulnerable.

Mrgrinch · 16/01/2021 08:44

Oxford given the choice, because I'm proud it was made in Britain.

LubaLuca · 16/01/2021 08:45

I'm genuinely not fussed either way. I don't ask questions when I go for the flu jab, and this will be the same - I'll just take what I'm offered.

Cinderellashoes · 16/01/2021 08:46

I am a trained vaccinator and the trials showed the pfizer one to be more effective so if I’d had a choice I’d have chosen that one. I got it anyway.

Scaredykittycat · 16/01/2021 08:47

Pfizer due to efficacy.

Cattoes · 16/01/2021 08:47

I would have preferred Pfizer. But the 12 week delay of second dose has not been tested. Whereas with astra Zeneca you do get some protection for a while after the first dose. If they weren't delaying doses I would have had Pfizer. Interesting article here from british medical journal www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n18

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 16/01/2021 08:49

Whichever one I’m offered.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 16/01/2021 08:54

Oxford as I am TTC and it holds the higher evidence base for use in pregnancy (to my understanding)

BlowDryRat · 16/01/2021 08:56

Pfizer as it's shown to have higher efficacy. IRL I'll take whatever I'm given.

Pinotwoman82 · 16/01/2021 08:56

Pfizer but I’m well down the list. But will have whatever I’m given when the time comes

AuntieStella · 16/01/2021 08:57

Pfizer if I could choose

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/01/2021 08:59

I’m going for mine this morning and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the Pfizer one. I think that’s my slight preference. Very pleased anyway.

MossandRoy · 16/01/2021 09:00

The Oxford one is being made in India, according to R4 earlier, @Mrgrinch

candle18 · 16/01/2021 09:00

My second dose is booked for 10 weeks time, so that’s the only thing with the Pfizer one I guess, that the trial results were based on 3-4 weeks spacing. Thanks for the article Cattoes, gives a good explanation of the situation.

Happy to have either. I honestly don't care which.

FippertyGibbett · 16/01/2021 09:01

Pfizer.

Spiratedaway · 16/01/2021 09:03

I was for both until I read about the 23 people in Norway but only concern for my parents not for me ... I don't care what one

CoteDAzur · 16/01/2021 09:03

I would choose the Pfizer vaccine.

The Oxford one is not as effective and its trial data is not up to a high standard.

SandyStarfish · 16/01/2021 09:07

I'm not sure. I think I'd prefer Oxford as I feel a bit wary of the new MRNA science to be fair though, I haven't properly looked into it. And I'll be having the Pfizer if they offer it to me despite my nerves.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/01/2021 09:09

That's something to be really pleased about - Oxford/AZ partnering with the Serum Institute, the worlds biggest vaccine manufacturer, to make it at scale and low cost particularly for the benefit of developing nations for whom the Pfizer vaccine is impractical and too expensive.

lljkk · 16/01/2021 09:13

I don't want any of them, so I don't care.

Roussette · 16/01/2021 09:15

Any one! Am desperate to have it.

If I had to choose it would be Pfizer but really just want a vaccine whatever it is.

However, it's appalling that you have people refusing the Pfizer one because they want 'the english one'. Hmm
Let those people go to the back of the queue
