Would you chose the pfizer or oxford vaccine?

I had mine yesterday as I’m a health care worker. I had a choice of 2 locations and the one I went to did the pfizer vaccine as it was in a hospital and had freezer storage. If I had picked the other location I would have got the Oxford one.

Didn’t know this before I booked which is just as well as I would have ended up researching it for ages, but just out of curiosity would you have chosen one over the other?

@MrsDoctorDear

I have a (daft) question. Family member is classed as obese. I've read obesity is in the 'priority category' but it wouldn't be on your GP records say like for instance diabetes, so how would they know to call you in?
I am on the priority list for the same reason, I’m going to have to choke down the embarrassment and make sure the surgery know I guess :(

I found out at the weekend that I (unexpectedly) qualify for the vaccine through work. I thought I'd have to wait another 2/3 months and probably have the AstraZeneca one. I have to wait two weeks for Pfizer first dose, but I've also got appointment for the second dose just over three weeks later. I'm very grateful for early vaccination and to hopefully to get two doses without delay.

Having a bit of fun with my Mum now, as to who gets their vaccine first. Boris announced last week that her town was one of the ones well ahead with vaccinations, she's 79, to should get hers around the same time.

@Alfaix

I had Oxford but just glad to get one. Those who say Pfizer is more effective- I thought it was difficult to compare as the trials were different? Oxford swabbed weekly to pick up asymptomatic infection but Pfizer just went on symptomatic infections. Is that wrong?
I heard that Pfizer was more effective (only 10% chance of catching it) but that although Oxford Vaccine you have 30% chance of catching it, it is 100% no hopsitiisation with the Oxford one, so a milder virus.. I read that yesterday, will try and find it for you. But as others say just glad to have had a vaccine and would have gad either, my son had Pfizer and I had Oxford, he had no side effects, I had loads but feel better now, 48 hours on.
