Isolating and exercise, would you?

DD22 is a student and tested positive on Thursday. DS, DH and I are all self isolating as per guidelines and have had negative tests I 'm an HCP and very law abiding.
I'm really struggling with low mood and the only thing that helps in these circumstances is a good long run through the woods.
We live very rurally and never see anyone, rarely even a car on the road in the distance and I had the first vaccine on 21st December.
Would you risk it?

OverTheRainbow88 · 11/01/2021 12:30

Not living with a confirmed case, defo not

m0use · 11/01/2021 12:31

No.

yearinyearout · 11/01/2021 12:31

I would if I knew I could go somewhere I wouldn't see anyone or touch anything.

SnowmanDrinkingSnowballs · 11/01/2021 12:32

No, have a look on you tube for a workout, not the same but will give you some of the benefits.

FOJN · 11/01/2021 12:34

Would you risk it?

Risk what?

Getting caught and fined is your problem alone, potentially passing it to someone else is not.

SlothWithACloth · 11/01/2021 12:35

I wouldn’t but not because of the usual reasons. You could be positive and going for a run, or any other strenuous exercise, could make you more ill.
I’m not a medic or anything but there is information out there about this.
Really fit people have got very ill and there could be links to exercise whilst not showing any symptoms but having the virus.

HunkyPunk · 11/01/2021 12:39

If you literally don't have any contact
with anyone, you can't pass the virus on. The only risk is if you encounter someone on your run, in which case you could run in the other direction. If it's really that deserted, I would struggle to see the harm. No doubt lots of other people will set me straight, though.

letsmakethetea · 11/01/2021 12:41

That's one of the best things about living rurally, you can easily exercise without coming into contact with anyone! Yes, in your circumstances I would, provided that I could afford to pay the fine on the off chance that I was 'caught'.

Bohemiagirl · 11/01/2021 12:42

No you shouldn't. As an HCP you know that. It's only for a few more days.

Sofetikal · 11/01/2021 12:43

Unless you go over on your ankle and need medical help...
you are a close contact of a positive case, just stay at home.

123rd · 11/01/2021 12:45

No, not for such short amount of time. Do you not have a garden you can do laps in? As PP said tonnes of online stuff /YouTube

Scarby9 · 11/01/2021 12:47

No. 10 days
That's all.
And you have alreaďy done four of them.
Plan your runs for when you are free.
Do plenty of stretching
Do online fitness videos for the time you would have been running.
Stay isolated at hime.

arthurdaly · 11/01/2021 12:53

I feel you! DH & I tested positive last Tuesday, might only be 10 days but it's 10 days of pure hell trying to work and deal with a toddler. I broke yesterday and ran 2.5k round our cul du sac...I imagine if I hadn't my DH might have been calling the police for other reasons.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/01/2021 12:56

No

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2021 12:56

No.

Palavah · 11/01/2021 12:57

Are you saying you've already exhausted your indoor workout/garden workout options?

Earlgreyandcake · 11/01/2021 12:58

Absolutely not- really irresponsible

Sirzy · 11/01/2021 12:59

No the rules are pretty clear

Tista · 11/01/2021 13:00

yes absolutely. But behave like you have the virus and run up a tree like a squirrel if you meet anyone

emmathedilemma · 11/01/2021 13:01

no (and i would like a run in the woods as much as anyone!)

islockdownoveryet · 11/01/2021 13:02

Erm it depends how rural you are , I wouldn’t because good chance I’d see anyone but if you knew you wouldn’t a quick walk would be fine.

schmockdown · 11/01/2021 13:05

No because that's not isolating.

That's why we're in this fucking mess.

larry5 · 11/01/2021 13:07

No you shouldn't go out. I have covid and have been isolating for 9 days. I was pacing round the garden yesterday feeling like a caged animal because I am desperate to go out for a walk but I know and all my contacts know that the rules are there to protect everyone. I have no idea where I picked up the virus and it could have been someone else exercising when they had the virus when I was out.

Chanandlerbong01 · 11/01/2021 13:08

No because you have to self isolate. The rules are there for everyone, not everyone but you.

What if you trip and hurt yourself. The people that have to come and help you are then being put at risk.
