Yes I think we’ll have roaring twenties. We’ll go a bit nuts

I’m hoping primary early too

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/01/2021 20:59

I think if not after Feb half term then first week of March. The way things are looking now I am hopeful.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/01/2021 21:01

If not already said nearly 1 in 20 of the UK population now vaccinated Grin

Plus we don't even have to vaccinate everyone anyway.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/01/2021 21:04

Primary schools would be good enough for me, please, please take the little one - he spent most of today with his arms flopping about saying they are too wobbly to do any writing HmmGrin

I'm ready and primed for the roaring twenties although I might need some bigger going out clothes Blush

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 15/01/2021 21:07

I think if case rates continue to fall at the rates they are they will struggle to justify not reopening the schools.

I think they have learned to keep quiet though after the ‘we’re not cancelling Christmas. We’re definitely not cancelling Christmas. We’re cancelling Christmas’ fiasco. They won’t say anything until they have to now, so they can’t be accused of backtracking again.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 21:08

On our walk today we saw wild daffodils in the hedgerow. And lots of sheep. Soon be lambs!

Oh @FourTeaFallOut my five year old is a kindred spirit with your little one- today we had ‘I can’t build a Lego tower for maths because the Lego (I play with constantly under normal circumstances) is prickling my hands’ 😭

TheChineseChicken · 15/01/2021 21:09

I’m hopeful for primaries. Actually just reception will do Wink. As much as DD loves being taught by us at home (ahem) she would much rather be with her pals and proper teachers.

MadisonAvenue · 15/01/2021 21:20

Fuzzy I’m so envious! It’s reminding me of the area where we usually hire cottages on farms in North Devon and Cornwall (Holsworthy sometimes, Kilkhampton other times). It’s so like the views on both farms.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 21:21

Madison, that's because I am very near both those places!

@FuzzyPuffling I am Cornwall too, and had quite a down day yesterday when everyone seemed to be telling me that we were on the news as having one of the highest cases. This thread and the Covid messenger seeing that we are in the green today has given me renewed hope today!

Love the optimism of schools opening after half term! It seems so far away to us right now and I'm really struggling with the home schooling alongside working at home. My children are basically becoming feral Grin

Pomegranatespompom · 15/01/2021 21:25

Loving the idea of roaring 20s.
Thank you for the continued great thread,.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/01/2021 21:28

I’m up for some roaring 20’s.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 21:29

Hello cathster . Lovely to see another person in Cornwall. There seems to be a few care home outbreaks again...maybe that's fuelling the numbers. Bodmin is suffering.

Even more envious now Fuzzy it really is such a beautiful part of the world. Apart from a few years we’ve holidayed in the area since 2002.

If we were in normal times our youngest son would be in Cornwall every other weekend. His girlfriend is at university in Falmouth so he goes to stay with her (which stresses us out no end as it’s a long drive from and to where we are in the Midlands, especially when he doesn’t leave to drive back home until 8pm on the Sunday night).

chri55ie · 15/01/2021 21:37

I am so up for some roaring 20’s! I just need a bit of notice please for some essential maintenance!

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 21:42

It is beautiful Madison, but also a bit bleak. And remote. When I read the "no one should be able to go more than 2 miles from home" threads, I like to remind them that it is 6 miles of single track road to our nearest main road! And another mile after that to the supermarket! Bit in spring the hedgerows are full of the most fabulous wild flowers. I missed them last year...I'm determined to see them this year.

Sorry if this has already been posted but it’s a cheery article:

news.sky.com/story/covid-19-every-uk-adult-could-be-vaccinated-by-mid-july-if-these-figures-are-anything-to-go-by-12188909

“It may seem hard to believe, but based on these figures, and the increasingly positive noises coming out of Westminster, the UK government vaccination programme is on track to under-promise and over-deliver”

OrangeBananaFish · 15/01/2021 21:50

I'm up for some roaring 20s too. Where do I sign? I might be able to wear my "new" dress. I bought it in January 2020 to wear on one of the many nights out I was hoping to have. It's still got its tags on Grin

Also have my fingers crossed for Feb half term. The government were reluctant to close schools so surely will want then open as soon as the numbers allow.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2021 21:52

Oh maaaan.... I'd be able to go into a supermarket again! 😮
I will have forgotten what to do, and will rush round like a mad thing yelling, "WHERE'S THE BUTTER?" and then dither with my card at the till and have a lot of trouble packing.
Bet you can't wait to be stuck behind me! 😁😁

I like this bit from that article Wherediditgo

"The Scottish government has also allowed for 5% wastage, even though in reality it says the real amount of wastage is 1%"

1 percent, bloody hell that's good.

chri55ie · 15/01/2021 21:58

Can you imagine how enjoyable these small things will be?!

louisejxxx · 15/01/2021 22:11

I’m just looking forward to being able to play a game of hockey and actually go in the bar afterwards for a drink! Realistically though, if we’re working back through the tiers that won’t be until September (because the hockey season ends in March/April)

feelingverylazytoday · 15/01/2021 22:21

@chri55ie

Yes. This might sound silly, but I'm looking forward to using cash again instead of my card. I like to withdraw cash at the beginning of the week and use that for my shopping.
Florelei · 15/01/2021 22:21

Does this mean I need to lose my lockdown weight?! I might need that summer body after all!
