Test and trace app has just pinged....

and I have to isolate for 13 days . However, I have been to the supermarket once in the last 7days and didn’t take my phone, I have been for 2 walks and didn’t take my phone. I haven’t been in anyone’s company for 15 minutes or more.
Does anyone know the time frame between someone that I may have been in contact with testing positive and the app pinging?
I have wracked my brains and can only think it was a British Gas engineer who came round before Christmas.
Could it be my next door neighbour, who I haven’t seen but could have been ‘near’ albeit divided by an adjoining wall ?

Oh that’s rubbish. I thought the maximum was 10 days now.
DH got pinged 6 days, in ‘about this app’ it told him he’d been exposed on 23rd. Like you, he hadn’t been anywhere for long enough. It’s a mystery!

He was fine, hope you stay well too

frustrationcentral · 09/01/2021 22:55

13 days seems weird?!

CutsOffCorners · 09/01/2021 22:57

13 days? Must be a glitch. It's 10 day isolation from contact now!

frustrationcentral · 09/01/2021 22:57

The app doesn't go off until the person with the positive test puts the code into the app. In our case it was a couple of days after receiving the results! Luckily DS hadnt been out so anyone who got a notification already knew they needed to self isolate...

BananaPop2020 · 09/01/2021 22:59

The app isn’t very good, my husband and I both had Covid and it gave us totally different dates for all of the official NHS emails and calls we received.

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 23:00

Delete and reinstall the app. Maximum isolation period is now 10 days not 14 so I don't think your app has updated properly

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 23:01

Also there's a bit in the app that tells you when contact was

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:05

@dementedpixie is there ? I looked but couldn’t see anything like that

Cyclewidow46 · 09/01/2021 23:06

Click on 'about this app' and then 'manage my data' and it will tell you your 'encounter date'

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:06

Weird !

Test and trace app has just pinged....

Friend got pinged and told to isolate due to a contact in a specific date- she hadn't left the house on that date!

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 23:11

Is that the nhs app? Go into the app itself and do what @Cyclewidow46 says

Plus other threads have said the app hasn't updated until they deleted and reinstalled it

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:17

Encounter date was the 8th , but I’m sure I haven’t taken my phone anywhere with me.

OP posts:
Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:18

Does it work through walls ?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 23:19

That was yesterday
Were you out anywhere?
Whats the point having the app if you don't take the phone with you and are then wanting to ignore it when it tells you to isolate?

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:22

Who said anything about ignoring it ?

OP posts:
JerichosPenisInADeadChickHat · 09/01/2021 23:25

Did you go anywhere yesterday?

Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme · 09/01/2021 23:25

I got pinged a few days ago - possibly my dash into Asda. Since then I have found out that you need to have been within 1m of someone for 1 minute or with in 2 m of someone for 15 who later entered a positive result . Apparently. Hmm

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:26

I went into my front garden yesterday but didn’t come anywhere near 2 metres of anyone .

OP posts:
Hwory · 09/01/2021 23:26

Yeah you can get pinged through the walls. Which is why I don't use it since mine and my neighbors beds are about 4 inches apart.

I've heard you can call and get 'let out' as it were by track & trace if you haven't been out on the trace date.

Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme · 09/01/2021 23:26

Hope that helps X u get caught so you have to isolate but you can't get a test unless u show symptoms ...and even if you did do a test and were negative you still have to isolate. :(

Mydoghasbettereyebrowsthanme · 09/01/2021 23:27

I am sorry op it does suck.

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:28

I am baffled, it can only be a neighbour, I’ll check with them tomorrow.

OP posts:
Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:29

I’m furloughed anyway and really only go out food shopping or for a walk.

OP posts:
MutantNinjaCovid · 09/01/2021 23:29

You dont have to isolate
You only have to isolate if contacted by track and trace as a named contact.

Just be cautious.
