Test and trace app has just pinged....

and I have to isolate for 13 days . However, I have been to the supermarket once in the last 7days and didn’t take my phone, I have been for 2 walks and didn’t take my phone. I haven’t been in anyone’s company for 15 minutes or more.
Does anyone know the time frame between someone that I may have been in contact with testing positive and the app pinging?
I have wracked my brains and can only think it was a British Gas engineer who came round before Christmas.
Could it be my next door neighbour, who I haven’t seen but could have been ‘near’ albeit divided by an adjoining wall ?

Oh ok , what a muddle!

10 days is also the maximum to-self isolate and it is often much less. 10 days from when you had the contact

14 days would mean you are going to have contact in 4 days. Psyschic app

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:33

Ooh spooky Grin

I will isolate, it’s no big deal for me, but if I delete and reinstall the app will if still say I’ve got to isolate or will the data be lost?
I’m not trying to wriggle out of it in case anyone thinks I am.

It should still store the data. There's been a couple of threads with the same issue

BGRKE · 09/01/2021 23:42

15 minutes is plenty of time to catch covid

welcometo2021 · 09/01/2021 23:43

Totally unreliable. Both me and DH received notification to isolate because our next door neighbour (terraced house) has tested positive. Test and trace were useless and we hadn't even been out at all as our DD had already been self isolating from nursery for a week due to a close contact.

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:48

Now what ? 🙄

Test and trace app has just pinged....

@Purplethrow

Does it work through walls ?
I've heard it does (although who knows what to believe anymore!). As a result I turned mine off as my (terraced) next door neighbours have had three successive positive cases since a couple of weeks before Christmas and I'd just come out of isolation following a close contact at work having it (so that notification wasn't a surprise).
VashtaNerada · 09/01/2021 23:51

I turned mine off because it claimed I’d had contact on a day when I didn’t leave the house or receive any deliveries. It’s completely unreliable.

Purplethrow · 09/01/2021 23:55

I would still like to have the app , even if it is unreliable but now it won’t let me!

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 23:57

Shut down and restart your phone?

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:03

Restarted phone but it’s still showing the same message

Our neighbours got pinged by the app through the wall when DH and I had COVID although we had literally never been face to face.
I felt a bit shit when I found out but apparently both are wfh and not terribly disadvantaged by it.

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 00:06

Have you checked for other apps?
How up to date is your handset?

1stMrsF · 10/01/2021 00:08

I'm baffled as to why you'd want to use the app but then don't take your phone anywhere?

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 10/01/2021 00:11

I have switched it off now
I've had confirmed Covid recently anyway and I'm at work with Covid positive patients all day but we are told to switch the app off at work cos of the magic plastic pinnys.
I think it is all just a bit pointless me having it on and I do feel bad for my neighbours.
Track and trace would not let them off it either apparently.

frustrationcentral · 10/01/2021 00:11

8th seems quick for having contact with someone, that person getting a test and results?! I hope my results are that quick (had a test yesterday!)

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 00:12

That notification doesn't look like the pictures that I've seen for the nhs app. Do you have a different one installed?

thinonice · 10/01/2021 00:13

Are people still using this app? The app is utter rubbish. Just delete.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 10/01/2021 00:13

As soon as DH entered his positive into the phone (1 day after his test) my neighbours got a ping literally straight away we worked out. Must have been in range through the wall at the time!

Separateatone · 10/01/2021 00:15

I had that message, I was running an alternative app and the message disappeared when I deleted it

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:19

What app was that @Separateatone

Either do as you are instructed and be a decent human being. Or don't

Do you really need a public forum to validate your life choices?

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 00:21

Have you looked at your apps to see if there's another one there
