and I have to isolate for 13 days . However, I have been to the supermarket once in the last 7days and didn’t take my phone, I have been for 2 walks and didn’t take my phone. I haven’t been in anyone’s company for 15 minutes or more.
Does anyone know the time frame between someone that I may have been in contact with testing positive and the app pinging?
I have wracked my brains and can only think it was a British Gas engineer who came round before Christmas.
Could it be my next door neighbour, who I haven’t seen but could have been ‘near’ albeit divided by an adjoining wall ?

@1stMrsF , I didn’t have my phone with me on my walks because the chances of me meeting anyone were slim to none, I didn’t realise I had left it at home when I went to the supermarket , I normally always have it on me (apart from the walks).

I turned off the bluetooth thing on the app, I just used it to check in at work when I was there. As a pub manager.....no longer an issue.... not least because they got rid of me when furlough ended Angry

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:27

@dementedpixie the only other covid app I have is the Zoe one

@hayleysmiles

Either do as you are instructed and be a decent human being. Or don't

Do you really need a public forum to validate your life choices?

Thats isnt how it works

They have not been asked. The app is like a warning system to alert you to the possibility

You are asked when contacted by track and trace in person. I am sure if the OP is contacted then they will isolate but at the moment she is under no requirement to do so.

FenellaVelour · 10/01/2021 00:30

If it works through walls it probably isn’t much use for me, since my house adjoins a busy general store!

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:31

@hayleysmiles
Please look at my post where I said I am going to isolate. Thank you

Whats the point having the app if you don't take the phone with you

This.

lljkk · 10/01/2021 00:35

My take is that the instruction is gone now. It removed itself.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:38

No it’s still there

I don’t get that it says 13 days. The max is now 10. And you haven’t been anywhwere. The app is advisory it is not legally enforceable at all.
I would personally ignore. Bet it’s your neighbour. The app can go through walls but covid can’t.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:40

@MintyMabel I do normally have my phone with me . It didn’t matter that I didn’t have it for the walks as the chances of seeing anyone was extremely slim. It’s the first time I’ve not taken it shopping with me.

My friend and I came very close to hugging on the 19th, we caught ourselves before we did, he tested positive on the 22nd, near hug aside we weren't that close and we were outdoors with him and his partner for about two minutes whilst we dropped something off. He sang like a canary, I am still waiting for a notification.

IMO, it is a bag of shite.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 00:58

It does seem to be very hit and miss. Hope your friend is ok.

Being within 1m of someone who is covid positive, for any length of time, requires isolation. Could have been the neighbour through the wall which seems a little unnecessary

TillyTildaToo · 10/01/2021 01:14

Phone 119, the new T&T number and dispute the contact or date.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 01:15

I’m going to ask my neighbours tomorrow.

TillyTildaToo · 10/01/2021 01:15

13 days is obviously wrong too. Phone them up, have the App details to hand

FinallyFluid · 10/01/2021 01:15

He is fine thank God, just a really bad cold feeling for him, flattened but no real panic.

I am delighted I swerved it, because I am CEV and I have been nowhere of any note for months.

We went to get the Christmas tree, we went early and then went to a huge sprawling country pub, they have a snug with a fabulous fire, only the locals really know about, when we went in there one of the barmen who knows us well and has seen me through two different cancers in five years (both different primaries) knew I was CEV put a notice on the door that said Private Party so we had it for an hour and a half to ourselves. Grin To catch it on the back of that trip out would have been gutting.

That is the biggest trip out I have had since July. Sadand that was only a trip to a restaurant for fill your gob to save a job.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 01:17

I’ve managed to download the app again and it has lost the data 🙄

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/01/2021 01:17

@1stMrsF

I'm baffled as to why you'd want to use the app but then don't take your phone anywhere?
Haven't RTFT but this.
Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 01:19

You had a lucky escape @FinallyFluid , glad your friend is ok too .

OP posts:
Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 01:20

I have explained about having/not having my phone with me.

OP posts:
humhumit · 10/01/2021 06:25

It's a good idea to take your phone on walks incase you fall or encounter an emergency. Mine-- even counts my steps luckily not my biscuit consumption--

MerciSeat · 10/01/2021 07:48

I live in a block of six flats. My ground floor neighbour tested positive and the rest of the block - and a couple in the next door block - were pinged. This despite having absolutely no contact with downstairs man whatsoever. There have been posts on here from people who've been pinged through walls. It's ridiculous and I uninstalled it.

Bettydot · 10/01/2021 08:19

Definitely worth checking with your neighbours. Our phones pinged when our neighbour tested positive. We’d been isolating prior to this which is the only reason we checked. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
