Clap for Carers

Was it tonight? Nobody clapped on my street (and last time everyone was out and really into it). I did hear a couple of fireworks in the distance at around 8pm. It was tonight... right?

OP posts:
CoronaIsWatching · 07/01/2021 20:15

Yes it was, I didn't hear anything either, thank God. I can only hear a druggie walking up and down the street shouting nonsense

felicitywishdoll · 07/01/2021 20:17

Nothing here either. Pretty much every house was during the spring/summer. I don’t think it’s going to be a thing again.

CressidaTheHeathen · 07/01/2021 20:17

Nobody here was taking part in that nonsense either, thank god!

BrokenCircle · 07/01/2021 20:18

Nothing here too, not that I was listening out for it.

Sheleg · 07/01/2021 20:18

No clapping here. Because we aren't moronic seals.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 07/01/2021 20:19

No. It’s winter and it’s dark and we live on the third floor, I’m not opening the windows to clap out of when it takes bleeding ages to heat the flat as it, fuck that.

HermioneWeasley · 07/01/2021 20:19

Silence here. We’re both key workers so recognised ourselves by sitting on the sofa in the warm

bananaramadramas · 07/01/2021 20:19

Some clapping here but ended pretty quickly and not as many as the first lockdown.

1Morewineplease · 07/01/2021 20:19

Silence here.

Nicknacky · 07/01/2021 20:20

None of the neighbours who did it last time were out tonight.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 07/01/2021 20:20

Nothing here . I paused the podcast I’m listening to to listen ..nope nothing .. I don’t think it’s publicised .. I didn’t know about it until reading about it on here today 🤷🏼‍♀️

felicitywishdoll · 07/01/2021 20:22

It’s been publicised (have seen on twitter, local Facebook groups and news websites about it) I just don’t think anyone wants to. Was fine in the summer but had it’s time and place.

Annamaywong25 · 07/01/2021 20:22

Nothing here. Think it's a given that everyone appreciates the carers now. Plus it's freezing and standing at the door for 5/10 mins clapping is likely to result in catching pneumonia. Shock

Redglitter · 07/01/2021 20:23

I've seen no support whatsoever for it this time (thank goodness) There wasn't a sound round here.

SillyOldMummy · 07/01/2021 20:23

It is sub-zero and pitch dark. Nothing here, not surprisingly

JorisBonson · 07/01/2021 20:25

Nothing on our street but someone across the back set off fireworks any my cats gone AWOL 🙄

JellieG · 07/01/2021 20:25

I'm considered a frontline worker and clapped once with my neighbours in the beginning before very quickly getting tired of the whole "heroes" thing. I'm not sure how others feel about it.

Lucy40ishere · 07/01/2021 20:26

Nothing here. There was a real backlash about it on Twitter so the organiser has now distanced herself from it. The idea to revive it wasn’t well received unsurprisingly.

AndcalloffChristmas · 07/01/2021 20:27

No way!

I think the person who started it made a mistake by saying “let’s bring it back”. It had it’s moment but this is no longer it.

EloraaDanan · 07/01/2021 20:27

Good. Maybe people are actually listening to the voices that matter for a change.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 07/01/2021 20:27

No clapping in our street at all.

Thought it was ridiculous last time.

Talk about drawing attention away from the crux of the issue.

wizzbangfizz · 07/01/2021 20:28

Silence here and before it was honking, pan banging and every house was out.

starrynight19 · 07/01/2021 20:29

Nothing here , it’s been done already people don’t want it.

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 07/01/2021 20:30

Quiet. Unlike NYE which was rowdy.

BlueGreenDreams · 07/01/2021 20:30

Silence, thankfully.

Even summers whooping spoony pan banger over the road kept schtum.

Good job too as I had a solid urge to shove that wooden spoon right up her arse last time she did it.

She did whooping and screeching Happy New Year for twenty minutes after midnight on New Years Eve though but thankfully that's only once a year.
