Work sent a lady home yesterday with cough,breathing trouble, temp but she isback intoday?!?

Rang in today and said a paramedic tested her and said shes fine possibly a chrat infection so is back in fir her night shift. Manager says this if fine - has seenno test results but its fine and that because they sent her home not self isolation it fine.
Im on shift with her and worried we work in a tin box with no ventilation

This cant be right, i cant refuse to work with her apparently
Do ambulance crew test people?

Sounds like bullshit. I wouldn't want to work with her. Even if she has genuinely had a negative test isn't the advice that you isolate anyway if you have symptoms?
You are fine to come out of isolation with a negative test.

At the end of my recent negative test was this:

You only need to self-isolate if:

you get symptoms of coronavirus (you’ll need to book a new test at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test )
you’re going into hospital (self-isolate until the date you go in)
someone you live with tests positive
you’ve been traced as a contact of someone who tested positive
You can return to work if you’ve not had a high temperature for 48 hours and feel well. Contact your employer first.

For a care home resident, follow the care homes guidance.

If you've had a temperature in the last 48 hours, you stay off work.

All those cases just because the first colleague “had” to go into work (either financially or due to employer pressure).

I think this shows that you can have crap management within any company - the Area Manager seemed very on the ball and decisive and aware of the risks etc and sorted out as quickly as they could so qdos to them. The original poor management did indeed not ony put staff at risk but also exposed the co to potentially unlimited fines via HSE if it was all not sorted properly. I would really like to see HSE grab this by the horns as I think many cases are coming through due to "forced" work situations where the risks are too high and focus is on staying open and getting cash in rather than ensuring safety of both staff and Joe/Jo

Jesus. I'm glad it had a good outcome, but what a mess.

Ironically, I've just rocketed an employee for not reporting symptoms, not testing and trying to come into work.

I am also sick of this "trooper" culture, soldiering on into work with symptoms. Nobody wants your sodding cold, p!$$ off back home until you get better!!! Grrrr

I do realise that this is a serious problem now with covid, but a cold?
When I get a cold I still have to go into work. I can imagine I would have a disciplinary for not going in, my Bradford score would be affected, and i catch about 4 cold a year. So there would be no room at all for any other sickness.
Also what would I pay the bills with? Sick pay now is about £95 a week. It used to be about £85. It's not enough for a mouse to live on and I'm an adult.
And of course the wonderful rule of nothing for the first few days.

Until sick pay is adequate then I wont be taking time off for a cold.
