To ask if you're not getting the vaccine...

Soitis83 · 06/01/2021 21:33

Then why? Just curious as to why some people will not get it

OP posts:
Aberforthsgoat · 06/01/2021 23:55

Don’t think I can currently due to having to carry an epi pen. Hoping the Oxford vaccine will be different though and allergy sufferers will be allowed it

Trumplosttheelection · 06/01/2021 23:56

Oooh homeopathy! Perfect, thanks. I've spent this week working out how to get enough cpap machines on the wards without exhausting the fecking oxygen but I'll bin that effort tomorrow and just go for essence of fuchsia in a golden capsule.

FFS.

SheeshazAZ09 · 07/01/2021 00:03

Gwendoline We both use homeopathy and it’s helped with lots of health problems including allergies. I’m a science writer. You will find that many doctors and scientists use it—we are not all closed minded Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2021 00:05

@SheeshazAZ09

I should add that homeopaths are doing virtual appointments so no in person visit needed.
The less of an appointment you have with a homeopath, the stronger it's effect, presumably?😂
Streamside · 07/01/2021 00:07

I've a relative in a nursing home and the management hoped to have 100% take up of the vaccine. Many of the younger staff members refused to take it and a large number of the residents were on blood thinning drugs so couldn't have it. It's brought home the reality of how difficult it is to have a high vaccination level in what is effectively a small community of about 150 people.

Nicknamegoeshere · 07/01/2021 00:09

I'm breastfeeding my 7 month-old so won't be having the Pfizer one.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 07/01/2021 00:10

Same as @godiamabitch. I'm sure they have tested it as much as they would with any vaccine but testing on 30000 and rolling it out to millions is a different thing.
One of the early swine flu vaccines caused some people/children to develop narcolepsy.
Of course, it was rectified and the number wasn't significant in scientific terms but I'm still surprised it's not even considered a valid reason for people to be reluctant.

I don't think people are stupid for wanting to get vaccinated asap, just as I don't think people are stupid for not wanting to.

Windyone · 07/01/2021 00:12

@SheeshazAZ09 can you specify which homeopathy treatments you used please and how they cleared up your COVID? Are you going to announce this to the world? Will you become very rich or do you propose that this treatment should be made available freely worldwide?

Windyone · 07/01/2021 00:14

Also @SheeshazAZ09 can you point us in the direction of some of your “science” writing?

Fiddlersgreen · 07/01/2021 00:14

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt

I can’t wait to get it but someone said they couldn’t because they are allergic to penicillin which I also am so now worried I can’t have it. I’m allergic to other medications/tablets as well. Though I’m not on the currently priority lists so it doesn’t matter for the moment
I’m allergic to penicillin and I had my vaccine on Tuesday. I don’t have any other allergies though
SheeshazAZ09 · 07/01/2021 00:23

Windyone I’ve already mentioned that homeopathy is individualised treatment and it’s different from patient to patient. You can go to medical doctors who are homeopaths or lay homeopaths. (Many homeopathic vets too—farmers use it for animals.)

why would I or anyone shout about homeopathy from rooftops when whenever it’s mentioned, eg on mumsnet, a load of angry ppl pile on with abuse, sniggers etc even though they have no experience or knowledge of it? And no one makes much money out of it , the remedies are not patented and most homeopaths have second jobs as it’s not lucrative.

I know half a dozen people who used homeopathy successfully to treat their COVID symptoms; all got better quickly.

So the sniggerers can carry on sniggering and we will carry on feeling grateful that we have a way of staying healthy and out of the overstretched hospitals. Wink

Because I'm pregnant.

Windyone · 07/01/2021 00:27

@SheeshazAZ09 what sort of science writer are you. Can you link to some of your articles? Obviously homeopathy isn’t science.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/01/2021 00:29

Won't have as grey area around fertility and pregnancy and I aren't finished having a family

mrssunshinexxx · 07/01/2021 00:30

@Osirus
Exactly, crazy people think once they've had it they are immune my FIL just had twice pretty much back to back gets tested weekly through work. No symptoms first time, quite unwell second .,, let's see what happens next time

Is this like when the hipster in Starbucks says he's writing a screenplay?
Sinful8 · 07/01/2021 03:22

@SheeshazAZ09

I won’t be having it (history of allergies) and partner who is a research scientist in the medical field won’t either as he says it’s experimental and not proven safe.

Neither of us is scared of COVID—I’ve had it and homeopathic treatment got rid of it quickly and without complications.

We are also taking supplements proven to be beneficial in preventing and managing COVID, namely vitamins d and c and zinc. Why the govt has ignored the evidence that these help keep ppl healthy is beyond me but maybe they are only interested in “solutions” that make profits for the pharma industry. Hope I am wrong there.

The government already fortifies stabples with vitamins and minerals, companies also do so voluntarily.

If you eat cereals or pretty much anything made with flour youre getting your government supliment

(Iirc for iron its something insane like 30% of an average persons i take comes from fortified cereals)

Mally2020 · 07/01/2021 03:27

I'm happy to have the oxford one just not certain other ones, I am a vaccinator also. I have multiple allergies which contributes but also the variety in testing that certain companies did...or rather did not

Pmpmpmpm · 07/01/2021 03:32

Can't wait to have it!

Bythemillpond · 07/01/2021 03:38

I react badly to vaccines.

1forAll74 · 07/01/2021 04:03

My son emailed me earlier and ask me if I was having the vaccine, I AM 78. but I am hanging fire at the moment. I am not considered vulnerable, don't have any health issues at all. I have not been to a doctors for about 30 years now. I dare say that I will get some hassle from my Son, as he thinks I am just an old biddy who lives alone, and should have all the jabs going !

Raindancer411 · 07/01/2021 04:03

@SheeshazAZ09 Out of interest, can you point me towards why your other half has decided not to, as am gaging trouble finding info to make an informed decision

Dereg · 07/01/2021 04:15

I had it in Match, & I'm still suffering Resp problems & still being treated by G.P & the hospital.

I wiĺl have it, the sooner the better.

silentpool · 07/01/2021 04:40

I will wait and see if there are negative effects before going ahead.
