Then why? Just curious as to why some people will not get it

OP posts:
Ginfordinner · 07/01/2021 08:01

And still the misinformation persists.
Thank you for posting @Indoctro.

Can I suggest that everyone reads this post before posting.

HappyNewYear2021 · 07/01/2021 08:08

The vast majority of people I personally know cannot wait. Some that are too young for the initial roll out want it too.

Then there are some oddballs on social media with their - poison/chip inside/zombie rubbish - they have done their YouTube 'research' and are not sheeple - do people actually listen to these (unless equally dumb) or just laugh at them. Many seem to have found similar idiots researchers who buy into the crap but I imagine many just roll eyes at them.

I perfectly understand the ones that are just worried and don't spread rubbish around though

HappyNewYear2021 · 07/01/2021 08:09

BRILLIANT

@ErrolTheDragon
The less of an appointment you have with a homeopath, the stronger it's effect, presumably?

sofato5miles · 07/01/2021 08:15

I don't live in the UK. Our vaccone programme os beingbrolled out with 8% of the pop having recieved it thus far. I have had my first dose of Sinopharm, the chinese vaccine.

My onservation is this, public opinion is changing from vocal SM posts of mistrust last month to now a deluge of enquiries of the nearest vaccine centres. As more people posted their personal experiences and the govt media campaign explaining why and including a call to action around civic responsibility, personal barriers for many have reduced significantly.

thecognoscenti · 07/01/2021 08:16

All the people who say that they're not having it because they're in a low risk group: are you not concerned about passing it to others? If there was even a tiny reduction in the chance of transmitting it I would have the jab, because it's not all about me! FFS. I can't wait to have it.

rosie1959 · 07/01/2021 08:17

Indoctro informative post
Now I can’t wait for my turn for people that say it has been rushed read the scientific information my guess is that they know more about it than you do
No matter what the Government has or hasn’t done this is totally irrelevant to the vaccination program

vdbfamily · 07/01/2021 08:18

For those of you worried tree allergies, I am severely allergic to Penecillin to the point of nearly dying. Our hospital was leading in the Oxford roll out this week and I had a chat about whether I could have the vaccine. I could, and did, on Monday and was absolutely fine. I had to stay under observation afterwards for 30 minutes rather than the normal 10 but other than a sorry arm have had no reaction at all. My colleague who had it at same time has been off work since with headache and aches!

AlternativePerspective · 07/01/2021 08:24

Still want to know what branch of "science" sheeshaz works in, I'm willing to bet it's not anything the rest of us class as science. let’s hope not. Grin

I take it all the anti vaxx “I don’t mind if other people have it but I won’t,” are the same people who have caused the UK to lose its measles free status over the past year?

Whether you want to admit it or not, if you feel you don’t want a vaccine based on hysteria read on facebook, then you are now a fully fledged antivaxxer.

Thank fuck facebook wasn’t around when the smallpox vaccine was doing the rounds. Or the TB one... those illnesses died out purely because they just did.... oh, wait, I believe vaccination played a part, and we didn’t have a platform for antivaxx lunes to spout their crap.

Angeliana · 07/01/2021 08:24

@PolarExpressislate

I am ECV and not having it because it's not been through rigorous testing, and as a single mum I do not trust this government with my well being or putting my best interests first. Why vaccinate elderly I n nursing homes above critical care workers who are vitally needed to keep the country running?

Why vaccinate when 99% of people are fine from it?

This is not about Covid, I'm not sure what's going on but it's not right,

Er, but it has been through rigorous testing...
PurpleFlower1983 · 07/01/2021 08:27

I’m pregnant and was originally told I couldn’t have it but if my doctor says it’s ok I will as I work in a fairly high risk of transmission environment.

Aberforthsgoat · 07/01/2021 08:27

@vdbfamily that’s fantastic news. Do you carry an epi pen for your allergy? This makes
Me hopeful I’ll be able to have it when it gets round to me (under 40, low risk group so will be a while)

BigSparrows · 07/01/2021 08:33

With Masks and Space you help protect others, with a vaccine you protect yourself. Yes I'll be having it as soon as I can (I work in a school).

Ginfordinner · 07/01/2021 08:39

Or they are too young to remember seeing children wearing leg irons as a result of polio and too young to have had measles (which affected my hearing and eyesight).

@haggistramp, @PolarExpressislate @Loveheartsweet please read Indoctro's post.

Funkypolar · 07/01/2021 08:43

Pregnant and then breastfeeding.

JudyGemstone · 07/01/2021 08:59

I'm an HCP so probably will have it, have already filled the form out actually.

However, I'm pretty sure i have natural immunity to covid. Mostly because my partner had it back in April and we continued sharing a bed, meals, having sex etc and I didn't get it. Didn't have antibodies when texted either.

As I said, I probably will just get it - but I'm not sure I would if I didn't work front line NhS

Godimabitch · 07/01/2021 09:05

@Doublefaced

‘It's not my job to inject something into my body to protect others. If we're going to start forcing medical procedures then how about forced sterilisation for parents of two or more children to prevent further overpopulation which is wrecking our planet.’

Good old anti vaxxers adding the wackadoodle every time Grin

And as for a ‘science writer’, I can’t wait to read your publications Grin

Wackadoodle that China actually implemented for years, secretly sterilising women during other procedures and aborting babies against their mothers will Hmm

I'm not saying we should do it at all, I'm showing how barbaric the idea of forcing medical procedures on an individual for the benefit of others is.

I'm also not an antivaxxer, I've had all my vaccines, had extras for travelling, no issue with vaccines at all. No issue with western medicine, love science, have a degree in biology. The way they've created the vaccine is perfect, no issue at all with the science. But shit happens, science isn't always 100% predictable, we cant know everything, yes the chances of anything being wrong with it are slim, but unexpected things happen in science as standard. It wouldn't be the first time scientists or doctors made a mistake. And it's perfectly natural in science to retest things on a larger scale before coming to a solid conclusion, that's all I'm doing.

If you want the vaccine, go for it, I dont care what you do with your body, so dont care what I do with mine.

I'm also not a "science writer" whatever the fuck that is.

bravotango · 07/01/2021 09:14

I dont like my dna being played with.
Nope

plus its a new type of vaccine inserting man made dna into your body.
Nope, not new technology

'anti vaxxers' are being mocked for their stupidity
hahahaha

WilsonMilson · 07/01/2021 09:15

Antibody dependent enhancement (ADE) is my main, but not only, concern.

It is rapidly becoming socially unacceptable to express any level of dissent about a covid vaccine, that worries me too.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 07/01/2021 09:26

Indoctro

Great post, thanks for sharing all that.

Cam2020 · 07/01/2021 09:37

I'm on the fence. I'm not really happy with the fact it's been 'rushed' and long term effects are completely unknown, however I do acknowledge that a vaccine has been prioritised, where others might be on a back burner for years or awaiting funding and that some of the research was already done for SARS.

I'm done with babies, so the unknown effect on fertility doesn't bother me, but I don't know how I'd feel if I didn't already have a child. I also acknowledge that there's probably nothing sinister that would affect fertility, it's just that it's an unknown at this stage.

I miss my life though, I can't live like this forever and if the only way things can ever get back to any semblance of 'normality' is proof of vaccination, most likely do it.

FWIW, I have spoken to health care professionals who are also (off the record) concerned. One pointed out there is a waiver in the small print stating the vaccine was made under emergency circumstances and the pharma company can't be sued in the event of any long terms effects. I haven't verified that for myself.

Whatisthisfuckery · 07/01/2021 09:39

I will be declining if offered. My reasons are my business and I owe nobody any justification whatsoever.

vdbfamily · 07/01/2021 09:40

I do not have an EpiPen as the allergy is Penecillin which I can easily avoid. I am also allergic to things like dust feathers and pollen but not in quite such a dramatic way as penecillin!

Iwonder08 · 07/01/2021 09:40

Not anti vax at all, but I want to wait until more people had it. Not that I am eligible now anyway. I don't like the fact they don't report any side effects at all, it can't be right. I also don't like the fact the have decided to stretch the time between the first dose and second dose without a decent research. The whole process feels very rushed

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 07/01/2021 09:42

@Indoctro
Do you have a link to that original post please? It’s really well done.

Nanny0gg · 07/01/2021 09:50

@DeeCeeCherry

I want to wait until (hopefully) I can gauge that it's safe. If it was a cure-all the rich/elite would have their hands on it 1st, we would not be a priority. I feel as if we're guinea pigs.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, just came to my own conclusions. My Mum told me she was wary of Thalidomide in the early 1960s (when I was born) even when it was being touted as safe and people who thought it wasn't were scaremongers.

To have a particular vaccination or not is a private decision I don't see why people are being asked about it or as I've seen elsewhere on MN, harangued about it.

Thalidomide wasn't a vaccine.

How about polio? Meningitis? Measles etc?
