Then why? Just curious as to why some people will not get it

@mummy2oli

I’m not refusing as such.. just waiting. I am cautious as it’s an unknown vaccine, not been tested enough and nobody knows long term side effects. I’m not sure if I have finished having children yet.
Good job not everyone has your attitude.
Givemeabreak88 · 07/01/2021 18:16

What I don’t get is the aggression towards anyone who doesn’t want to get the vaccine, do people think that will make someone want it more, if they be nasty to them?

Thefeep · 07/01/2021 18:20

Because I dint get any vaccines.

BooFuckingHoo2 · 07/01/2021 18:28

You really can’t understand why people are angry that some selfish people are not willing to play their part in trying to eradicate this virus which has taken SO much from so many people in this country?

hitsvilleuk · 07/01/2021 18:30

Having it is viewed in the hospitals as an IQ test
More education/explanation clearly required
Some people on here have no idea of the destruction caused/will be caused to both short and longterm health by this virus.
'I am fit' does not save you
And as a final note - the Homeopathic Hospital (NHS) had to change its name in 2010 to the Hospital for Integrated Medicine as even they agree homeopathy doesn't work. Thats not to say all alternative medical treatments are useless - they now focus on the ones that work

Givemeabreak88 · 07/01/2021 18:35

Everyone is selfish in one way or another, being angry at people won’t make them want it if anything it makes me more certain I don’t!

CoffeeandCroissant · 07/01/2021 18:37

There is no evidence the [COVID-19] vaccine affects fertility,” says newly released information from the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and NIAC.

Are you sure you’re old enough to be using the internet?

Givemeabreak88 · 07/01/2021 19:04

🙄 enjoy your vaccine.

CrunchyCarrot · 07/01/2021 20:02

The Pfizer vaccine - I would refuse it, because I'm worried re allergic reactions, I have a very over-reactive immune system and autoimmunity. On balance, I think it's safer to decline.

Oxford vaccine - I'm still weighing up what I think and the wider question of autoimmunity and vaccines (I've never had a vaccine whilst being autoimmune). It might be a (costly) mistake to decline, but right now am not sure which way I'll go. Doubt I'll be invited for another 2-3 months, anyway.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2021 20:10

I know there are lots of different autoimmune conditions, CrunchyCarrot - but my DH has some, and there's never been any issue whatever with vaccines.

WankPuffins · 07/01/2021 20:16

Allergic to penicillin. Bad reaction as a child.

Plus, I've got a a private GP, I'm not registered with an NHS one (long story), so I'd have to wait until it was available privately anyway, as I assume it's only available if you are registered with a GP and no way to get it otherwise via nhs number?

MajesticWhine · 07/01/2021 20:21

I've had my first shot today and feel privileged and fortunate. But it's not about me or about individual risk. It's about protecting others and thinking of the whole population.

Big lol 😂 at homeopaths - can you get them into the covid wards to cure everyone please?

tilder · 07/01/2021 20:27

@NothingICanDo

There is some evidence to suggest that it does reduce transmission Some evidence...suggests, isn't enough for me. I understand it is for others though and respect others choices. This is why it's a choice and not mandatory.
This is the way they gather evidence on transmission.

Firstly, evidence of safety and efficacy to the person vaccinated. Tick.

Then evidence on ability to still transmit the virus to others.

Expectation is, as normal, the vaccine will prevent or reduce the ability to transmit the virus.

They can't prove it yet. But are getting evidence to support the expectation (of no or reduced transmission). The more evidence, the more certain.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 07/01/2021 20:34

@Pinetreesfall

No won't be having the vaccine. Low risk group. Didn't have the flu vaccine either despite getting an 'invite'. As I said to my colleague - If you want it, fine but it's my choice not to have it. Don't ask me why not continually!
You might be a low risk group but you can still give it to others. I just don't get this way of thinking as though its just about you the individual.

@SheeshazAZ09

Re homeopathy, there are many different remedies and the one that is right for you is chosen by the homeopath based on your particular symptoms and how you feel. I do not recommend self prescribing and buying over the counter remedies, you need to consult a professional homeopath who’s registered with one of the professional bodies. This disease is not one to play “guess the remedy” with, which you could end up doing if you try to self prescribe.
Well you wouldn't want to risk taking the wrong kind of sugar water would you? FFS Hmm
gooseygooseywanderingfree · 07/01/2021 23:26

@SheeshazAZ09

Gwendoline We both use homeopathy and it’s helped with lots of health problems including allergies. I’m a science writer. You will find that many doctors and scientists use it—we are not all closed minded Smile
The kind of science writer with an ability to read and understand scientific paper on the effectiveness of homeopathy?
gooseygooseywanderingfree · 07/01/2021 23:31

@PolarExpressislate

I am ECV and not having it because it's not been through rigorous testing, and as a single mum I do not trust this government with my well being or putting my best interests first. Why vaccinate elderly I n nursing homes above critical care workers who are vitally needed to keep the country running?

Why vaccinate when 99% of people are fine from it?

This is not about Covid, I'm not sure what's going on but it's not right,

This again? Because the elderly have the highest chance of becoming critically unwell and contributing to overwhelming the NHS. And NHS staff / carers are being offered it alongside the over 80's. So what's "not right" there?
Againstmachine · 07/01/2021 23:36

It's amazing how many people when anyone questions the virus call people names or try to guilt trip them, it's better to educate than insult, all insults do is make you feel better.

Above should be vacine not virus.

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 08/01/2021 00:38

@WilsonMilson

Antibody dependent enhancement (ADE) is my main, but not only, concern.

It is rapidly becoming socially unacceptable to express any level of dissent about a covid vaccine, that worries me too.

Here you go, this should reassure you re: ADE. What have you been reading?

www.the-scientist.com/news-opinion/covid-19-vaccine-researchers-mindful-of-immune-enhancement-67576

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 08/01/2021 00:44

@TheDayAfter

Cheeserton that’s nonsense. The manufacturers themselves say it hasn’t been adequately tested and that long term risks are unknown, hence why they required indemnity from responsibility should any severe health implications arises in a few years due to the vaccine. So how can you say they have done all the testing when they themselves say they haven’t?
Where have the manufacturers said that it hasn't been adequately tested?! And the long term effects for any vaccine aren't known when they first come out. This one isn't unique in that. It's also the case that due to the nature of vaccines, the change of any issue coming to light months / years after administration is very small indeed.

"We will be mean to you of you don't act like us"

Is literally the foundation of our society.

MadameBlobby · 08/01/2021 01:18

I’ve said I would get it from the get go. No doubt in my mind at all. I had a few friends who a couple of months ago said they wouldn’t have it but have now changed their minds and can’t wait.
