Have sent their own kids into school this week under key worker provision.

I haven't but may have to in a few weeks. But at the minute with cases so high? Nope.

CarrieBlue · 06/01/2021 17:04

Not sent mine, it’s far to dangerous and I’m not inflicting more risk on their teachers.

ILoveAnOwl · 06/01/2021 17:05

None that I know of across the three schools I work in.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 06/01/2021 17:05

Probably not many. They know how risky it is (unlike a lot of parents)

babyguffingtonstrikesagain · 06/01/2021 17:06

Not me .

@shitsngiggles1

Have sent their own kids into school this week under key worker provision.
Id imagine it's dependent on their individual circs. Two FT teacher parents who both need to be on site or delivering lessons remotely for full days all week will need some sort of provision. Where else would their kids go?
Appuskidu · 06/01/2021 17:07

No, I haven’t.

Sjjr23 · 06/01/2021 17:07

How many key worker places are being taken by the kids of nursery staff.....who have to work to look after 'non key worker' children? Who need the 'socialisation'? Don't we all!!!!

Wejustdontknow · 06/01/2021 17:08

Genuine question but why would it matter? Very teacher I have had contact with is working from home, if that means they can’t provide adequate care to their own children they may have to take up a key worker place. My ds’s teacher cried today when all the children joined the zoom meeting, she wants nothing more than to have them back in school and learning like they should be but also wants both children, families and staff to be safe. Teachers are not the enemy in this

Teeninabeanie · 06/01/2021 17:08

Nope! Not me. We were offered a place for Dd as she struggled so much last time but I wouldn’t put an extra child in when we can manage with dh taking unpaid leave.

Whattodo121 · 06/01/2021 17:10

I have to. DH and I both keyworkers, I’m a HoY so have to be in and out of my school at short notice doing pastoral stuff and all my lessons during this lockdown have to be live streamed. DH full time shift worker with emergency services in a specialist role, currently on call at all times not actually officially on shift due to staff absences because of COVID. I’ll look to keeping DS off when I can from next week, but he’s in for the rest of this week whilst everything at my school gets sorted.

Elizabeth110100 · 06/01/2021 17:10

I've had to. I'm a single parent and don't have any choice. If much rather not and I hate that I have to do it.

UniversallyUnchallenged · 06/01/2021 17:12

No

MsJaneAusten · 06/01/2021 17:12

Me. Why? What’s the problem with a key worker using a place for the children of key workers?

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/01/2021 17:14

I haven't. Have had a stressful day of juggling my son's online work, sorting out all of my own teaching stuff and looking after my toddler.

After bedtime I then get the pleasure of marking/responding to all of today's work and making sure tomorrow is ready to go.

AaronPurr · 06/01/2021 17:15

Across 2 schools I know only one who has sent their child in.

Armi · 06/01/2021 17:17

I haven’t, even though teaching live lessons all day means I am struggling to help my own SEN child with her school work. Transmission rates are too high. We will continue to try to make it work.

Xiaoxiong · 06/01/2021 17:18

DH is a teacher and we qualify for places apparently but haven't taken them up as I can juggle work and homeschooling, as can he when he isn't actually live teaching or on zoom calls. The fewer kids in school, the lower risk to the teachers who do have to go in, and hopefully the sooner we can all go back. And I REALLY want to be back in Feb, not April!

Another factor is, the better the provision for all kids if the teachers aren't trying to do 50/50 distance and face to face. I can see from DH's teaching through last term that 50/50 gives the worst of both worlds and shortchanges everyone. 90/10 is manageable, even 80/20. But 50/50 is a nightmare.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/01/2021 17:18

Teachers are key workers, they can send their kids in to school.

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 06/01/2021 17:19

Wouldn't dream of sending ds in. He's 15 so having to fend for himself all day as I'm at school still.

marly11 · 06/01/2021 17:20

Nope. I don't want to expose them or the teachers teaching them to any risk.

No, mine is old enough to be left at home by herself.

Nix32 · 06/01/2021 17:23

I have to. Two key worker parents. I'm a teacher, working in school. No other choice.

noblegiraffe · 06/01/2021 17:24

Have teachers not noticed the shitty posts from wind-up merchants suggesting that if teachers don’t think that schools are safe (section 44), and making life difficult for parents then they shouldn’t be taking up keyworker places?
