It’s back under a new name “clap for heroes.”

OP posts:
BuntysTwinkle · 07/01/2021 17:35

Fuck that bullshit. Yours sincerely, a carer.

Eaumyword · 07/01/2021 17:51

I find it curious that she speaks of 'we'. She was happy first time round to take sole ownership and credit for the event.
Anyway, with 1,162 tragic daily deaths, maybe let's focus on trying to reduce that whilst being quietly grateful for the efforts of everyone supporting that goal.

@XenoBitch

Hell no. Would rather press my arse to my front window for all to see.
Howling at this!!!
MummaBear4321 · 07/01/2021 19:07

I swear to God above if the 11 year old s**t down the road gets up on his wall again and instists on blasting that bloody vuvuzela and wakes my 2 year old and 8 week old, I will stand outside his window at 1am and bang the biggest pot I own as loud as I can. See how happy he is with being woken up.

faerin · 07/01/2021 19:13

No.

Erictheavocado · 07/01/2021 19:48

No, I won't be clapping. This has nothing to do with my feelings about the people we are clapping for. It's because I cannot stand the hypocrisy of people like my neighbours who think that standing and clapping once a week somehow negates the fact that they have ignored pretty much every lockdown rule since last March. I will show my respect by doing as I have all along - avoiding all unnecessary contact with h others outside our household and hopefully staying out of hospital.

Biffbaff · 07/01/2021 19:56

I feel sorry for the woman, but she's been rather naive bless her. Someone's always out to send death threats on twitter, comes with the territory. Hope 2021 picks up for her👏👏👏

ilikebooksandplants · 07/01/2021 20:09

No one here was put clapping like seals, thank goodness. They were very enthusiastic last time but Annemarie Plas needs to give it up now. She’s had her 15 mins.

Does anyone actually believe she’s had death threats and the like? She’s deleted her Twitter post saying we should bring it back - however I read through pretty much all the responses yesterday because I was curious. I did not see one death threat but I also did not see a single positive response (i read through about 2000ish+ responses - when I looked I think there was 2700 responses). I reckon she was just embarrassed that everyone thinks it’s a crap idea.

firstimemamma · 07/01/2021 20:12

Thankfully didn't hear a single clap here. Literally just settled our toddler and the disruption would've buggered up his dad's evening and he's on an ambulance shift early in the morning. No more clapping!

Jrobhatch29 · 07/01/2021 20:14

Nobody in my street did it tonight. But they all did in the little cul de sac which leads off our street. They also decorated all their lamp posts at xmas and did competitive outdoor xmas decorations. They're fun...Hmm

Theunamedcat · 07/01/2021 20:14

Its below bastard freezing here set to be minus 8 tomorrow what good will it do me getting ill from standing on the doorstep clapping (and I will get ill im sodding prone to it)

Peppafrig · 07/01/2021 20:15

Not a single person out here. It is minus 2 outside to be fair maybe that played a part .

bungleZippy12 · 07/01/2021 20:15

A few of my neighbours were doing it. Very loudly too as if it might bring out others!

felicitywishdoll · 07/01/2021 20:20

Not a single person on my road either

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 07/01/2021 20:21

No clap here - relieved that the penicillin is still working. Wink

nuitdesetoiles · 07/01/2021 20:22

No, and none of your street food either thankfully it's been recognised for the nonsense that it is. All that applies to covid, not enough staff, no available beds, "overwhelm" and people being cared for miles from home has been the case for mental health for years hence the prolific rise of private mental health facilities, the likes of which are funded by NHS and social care cash. No headlines or hand wringing or talk of angels there though.... Usually total decimation by the press and public about how shit mental health care is...

Eaumyword · 07/01/2021 20:22

No claps in our village, although DH said whilst on his walk, one bloke was outside his house with a pan, then stomped back in when nobody else was doing it!
Awful if she has had death threats, but I also looked through the Twitter comments and agree she is probably mortified at the almost unanimous OMG no messages. She's been shown up to have really misread the mood of the nation and that must be embarrassing. I think she thought she'd be the nation's darling and it didn't go the right way this time, so saving face needed to be done.

nuitdesetoiles · 07/01/2021 20:22

Should say street DID not food! Food would have been far better!!

DuzzyFuck · 07/01/2021 20:23

Just realised that it's 20 past 8 and didn't hear a single clap round here.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 07/01/2021 20:25

I didn't hear anything. If it wasn't for mumsnet i probably wouldn't even know about it

BlueBaubles12 · 07/01/2021 20:45

Nothing here. Doesn’t help that it’s totally freezing. Also, it’s bollocks.

ImBoredAgain · 07/01/2021 20:55

No, it’s patronising and very cold

LawnFever · 07/01/2021 23:39

Didn’t hear anything at all here, hopefully it’ll be forgotten about by next week

sanityisamyth · 08/01/2021 03:18

Someone set off a firework here at 8pm. Not only are there the obvious issues with frightening animals/PTSD sufferers/waking up children etc, what if it had gone wrong and they needed medical attention from paramedics/nurses/doctors? They’d really appreciate having to go out and treat someone in a pandemic (having to get close enough to treat their injuries) and using up resources and beds when it was completely avoidable, all in the name of “Thank you NHS”. Is it me?!

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 08/01/2021 05:06

no no no no no no no no no no no no NO

I think that covers it Grin
