Don't understand the once a day rule. Never have. A little afternoon walk keeps me sane.

Moan moan moan.

So go for an afternoon walk then.
That is within the rules.

AliceAbsolum · 04/01/2021 22:20

How is it not a rule?!

Not if I've already been for a morning walk.

I don't care about breaking guidance but don't want police to turn up trying to inform it... don't think my neighbours would grass me up, but...

You could walk to the garden centre & back, OP.

tinkerbell2021 · 04/01/2021 22:22

It's clear this time and actually says that it must be exercise you leave the house for and not recreation (picnics etc).

UrAWizHarry · 04/01/2021 22:23

Just go out twice if that helps you. If you avoid contact with other people it makes fuck all difference.

It's another example of these rules having been given zero intelligent thought.

Here..

Splodgetastic · 04/01/2021 22:24

DF said to take a shopping bag and pretend I was trying to find essential carrots. He has had trouble finding any the past few days (no, I hadn’t heard of this shortage either).

FairyFairy · 04/01/2021 22:24

I'll be going out twice. Once for a run to keep me sane and once to get my children outside for a walk with the dog.

I dropped the running last time because I stuck to the once a day rule and prioritised my kids getting out; it was at the expense of my mental health though, so this time I have no qualms about doing both. If curtain twitchers wish to report me they are welcome to crack on.

dawnc27 · 04/01/2021 22:27

it does say you can leave for animal welfare reasons for those saying about dog walking and horses

AnImposter · 04/01/2021 22:28

@Akrotiri1

Well I have 3 young dogs that need walking twice a day, and 2 horses that also need exercise due to being stabled - so that's me banged up then!?
No there's some clause I read, can't remember word for word but, something about maintaining health of animals. Basically said you can walk your dog and it's not your one episode of exercise. Think it'd cover the horses too.
CrocodilesCry · 04/01/2021 22:28

What's so hard to understand?

Stay at home. Sod the garden centres being open - you don't need to go. We're trying to stop the spread of a virus, it's not about curbing our freedoms or stopping you from buying pansies.

Imagine everyone with Covid-19 is covered in shit and if you go near them, their shit will splash on you.

I'd rather not get other people's shit on me so I'll mainly be staying at home.

Pinborough · 04/01/2021 22:28

@Theredjellybean

I get rage about garden centres so badly. Last lockdown my dsd had her weekly psychology sessions moved to online, despite the daft she could have sat in ventilated room wearing a mask two metres from the therapist. One session the therapist was late for and apologised saying shehad been to the garden centre and choosing her new plants took longer than she thought. My dsd had already said she was seriously struggling with online therapy... So yes I feel entitled to rage about garden centres
Wtf. I'd be so pissed off if my therapist told me that!
AliceAbsolum · 04/01/2021 22:29

'To avoid illness' yeah, mental illness. 🙄

Cross post - this is what I was trying to say
Splodgetastic · 04/01/2021 22:30

I might now get a large dog requiring multiple walks...

AnImposter · 04/01/2021 22:31

@Splodgetastic

Good luck. They'll be 10 grand before this lockdown is over Grin
Bookworming · 04/01/2021 22:32

Have your second walk to the garden centre?

1Morewineplease · 04/01/2021 22:32

@notanothertakeaway

Jeez, the pandemic escalates, govt brings in ever tighter restrictions, and people on this thread are already encouraging OP to break the rules and take extra walks! No wonder the virus continues to spread. FFS
That's what I was thinking.

I haven't seen my 82 year old mum for months.
But as long as folk think that it's ok to bubble up with other families, ( plural!!!) all of whom work in different places and have children in different schools, then that's ok.

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 04/01/2021 22:33

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-people-with-animals#dog-walking Dog walkers can walk their dogs more than once a day.

PattyPan · 04/01/2021 22:33

Going out multiple times a day to care for animals has been allowed the entire time, including during lockdown 1. Our allotment had a notice on the gate saying that if we had to come multiple times a day to tend to livestock (we are allowed to keep chickens, rabbits or bees there) then we should take a picture of them to show to the police in case we got stopped.

chubley · 04/01/2021 22:36

Now thinking how to borrow a dog for the 2nd walk Grin

Wheresmykimchi · 04/01/2021 22:37

Doesn't it say as many walks as you want

Fingfoxes · 04/01/2021 22:37

My neighbours walk their dog about 6-7 times a day so at least 3 times each person - short local walks. They did this all through the first lockdown and felt no need to make excuses because the dog needed walking.
People without dogs shouldn't need excuses either.
You shouldn't need to get a dog for exercise. Exercise should be available to everyone, not just dog walkers.
These 'rules' are totally ridiculous and I hope no-one tries to enforce one exercise a day for a human but unlimited exercise for a dog. Now we are below dogs.

Jangle33 · 04/01/2021 22:38

How the hell can it be ok to shut schools but keep everything else except kids team sports and golf clubs exactly the same?

I’m outraged? Why aren’t they doing everything to keep schools open? Instead you can click and collect and get takeaway coffees just like before? What is wrong with the leadership in this country?
