I’m just so fed up. It feels like Groundhog Day now. Worried about business, worried about ds’s schooling. Doing dry January too - thinking about scraping that tbh. How’s everyone else doing?

OP posts:

Cummings ? Really .

How boring and also out of order to attack a man with a special needs child.

But that just about sums up some posters on here .

Not blaming the thousands of people ( lemmings) that broke the rules and used that as an excuse .[/quote]

No but he is a human being and in a particularly difficult job and the virus and mutation is not his fault .

I have lost relatives , I have relatives sick . My daughter will lose her business.

My CEV daughter is struggling with two children at home and trying to work well with no support from family .

It’s shit .

But there also has been furlough
Millions invest in the vaccine
Loans for businesses

And I am not going to sit here and blame one human being for the situation . But you carry on

That’s the democracy we have .

I personally am taking a break from mumsnet for a while because I am sick of the vile personal comments

I thought it would be a constructive and intelligent site for bringing women’s ideas together for good and to achieve things .

But in fact a lot of posters are actually condescending judgemental bullies and I actually feel sad for your children .

@Pinkpercy

The tears are flowing and I don’t really know why! I don’t have kids
I think every now and then it hits just what a serious situation we are in Thanks
nevereverplease · 04/01/2021 21:00

@Pootle40 that would never go down well in this country. Vaccinate the young working people and leave the vulnerable???

DecemberSun · 04/01/2021 21:00

Let's hope they use this time to make school buildings safer for when they go back.

HappyDays10101 · 04/01/2021 21:00

I think that if your first thought is that this is an excuse to sack off dry January, then you’re probably the person who has the most to gain from completing dry January.

MercyBooth · 04/01/2021 21:01

@Unsure33 Cummings lives in LONDON He could have found childcare.

But you seem to think protecting the NHS is only for the "lower orders"

MrsJBaptiste · 04/01/2021 21:01

@Bathroom12345

We all need to do our bit. No endless bubbles and stretching the rules. Masks for EVERYONE over the age of 12, no exceptions. No going to the shops en masse or couple shopping. Stay in the car if you really cannot do it on your own or don’t trust your partner to do it.

Shops need to actually reinforce this.

God yes, I agree completely 👍

The amount of 'bubbles' recently. FFS, lets just all try and deal with this.

nevereverplease · 04/01/2021 21:01

@Unsure33 very very well said.

Best post I've seen, horrible site at times isn't it.

I too may take a break.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 04/01/2021 21:01

@Thedarksideofthemoon30

I feel like I’m at breaking point. My Dc just constantly bicker and argue. I can’t do it again.
I hear you. My sons spent months fighting and screaming last year. I had a nervous breakdown and had to take a month off work. It's a fucking misery.
Nat6999 · 04/01/2021 21:02

Absolutely gutted for ds, a term in to his A levels, loving spending time with his friends, studying hard. He was so good during the first lockdown, never moaned even though his GCSE exams were cancelled, didn't complain about not seeing his friends, was in charge of getting what bits of shopping we needed between online shops. He can go in to school as he is a young carer but that won't replace having full lessons. I feel so sorry for all children & young people having their lives messed up by this pandemic.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 04/01/2021 21:02

No flipping dentists for another three months, I lost two teeth in the last lockdown because I had untreated abcesses and had to have dental implants to replace them, I can't loose any more, I can't afford to.

loulouljh · 04/01/2021 21:03

Gutted for my kids...how they have been failed.

MercyBooth · 04/01/2021 21:03

Im in a support bubble because im a carer.

Now what if all unpaid carers picked a date and on that date phoned SS en masse and said they wernt going to do it any more.

Careful now!!

sammyjoanne · 04/01/2021 21:03

@WobbleTime

I’m having a Gin and tonic.
Jan and Tonic month :)

@HumphreyCobblers

I am gutted. Have a seven year old with SN and lockdown is terrible for him, absolutely awful. He needs the variation of school or of going out and about - he has little language and no sense of narrative so cannot watch tv, read books, play imaginary games, draw/paint or access online learning in any meaningful way. At least in the last one he could play outside most of the day.

I could absolutely cry. He regressed so much last time.

@HumphreyCobblers Children with SN come under the umbrella of "vulnerable" so can attend school, if their parents wish. Special schools are mostly remaining open too, for this reason.
herethereandeverywhere · 04/01/2021 21:06

My kids are so lonely. Desperate for proper time with friends. Time over screens makes them so aggressive and insular. It's all they've had since school closed. Now this. For at least another 6 weeks. Last time it was almost 6 months until schools went back.

Younger one howling at not seeing school friends or playing sport. She's acting like a wounded animal. She's sobbed/shouted for half an hour so far.

I'm so done with all of this.

AlwaysLatte · 04/01/2021 21:06

I'm relieved. My dad has so many health issues including copd that I was terrified when my children went back to school. And they preferred working from home too. But I feel for people who are finding it tough.
We'll get through it!

tinselearedcow · 04/01/2021 21:08

Shehasadiamondinthesky I think dentists will be open still as they are essential healthcare. I am in Wales and we have been in lockdown for two weeks but dentists are still open.

Shannith · 04/01/2021 21:09

@CuriousaboutSamphire

It's not Boris

It isn't the dickheads flouting the rules.

This would have happened whatever precautions were taken. We were told so last March. It's a virus doing what a virus does.

What has NOT happened is a total overwhelming of the NHS. What has happened is a slowing down if the rate of infection. What has happened is some societal changes that have helped slow down infection rates.

Many countries with variations on a lockdown theme are experiencing the same changes.

The GOOD NEWS is that vaccines are already being rolled out. There is something proactive that can now be done.

We just have to take a deep breath and convince ourselves that this really is the beginning of the end. Because it is...

-this 100%

It is shit and yes Boris is beyond satire anymore but take him and his moronic flapping about out of the equation and you have:

A virus - all of which have higher infection rates during winter
A virus which has mutated - as they all do
A virus that has not run its course unchecked, our behaviours have contained it so it's bad, bad, bad but not doomsday.

Then also

Vaccines that are being rolled out

One of the biggest issues the world has faced is politicians of all counties and sides claiming they have it control of this and that we will be out of it soon - in the face of all scientific evidence.

Heed one thing Boris said "with a fair wind" far chance and the time lag between vaccine and immunity.

I'm afraid mid Feb is still Boris being wildly optimistic. It'll likely be longer so I'm going to set my expectations to about May the. I won't be disappointed.

Hopefully.

Thanks to everyone

Bathroom12345 · 04/01/2021 21:10

I really didn’t want the schools to close. However it is the right thing but now that this has happened we need to look at ourselves, are we doing everything we can to avoid spreading it. Or are some going to start the yes but the rules don’t apply to me because xxxxxx (insert random selfish reason).

Some on MN are on some sort of lefty march. The comments they have made about our politicians are disgraceful. Calling someone a cxxt shouldn’t be allowed. They mouth off and won’t listen to any other view point.

Shame on them.
