I’m just so fed up. It feels like Groundhog Day now. Worried about business, worried about ds’s schooling. Doing dry January too - thinking about scraping that tbh. How’s everyone else doing?

Hell has officially frozen over because I want to share a Gin bottle with @Xenia. I accept there's no other choice now than the path we're on, and I don't blame anyone. I wouldn't fight the anti-Lockdown crew if they had prevailed, though.

Unsure33 · 04/01/2021 20:41

@Hello2021bye2020

They have been talking about the possibility of tougher measures for weeks .,

I can’t see why it’s a surprise.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 20:42

@borntohula

I'm fucking sick of this never ending bullshit. I don't give a fuck that it could be worse right now.
I hear you It’s so shit
blueangel19 · 04/01/2021 20:42

*Stop it! It isn't down to schools or any other single issue.

It's a fucking virus.

It's global

It is not a UK thing.

Grab your grips. We're going to need them!!!!*

Exactly! So sick of people who do not get this is a global pandemic and take the opportunity to bash the government.

Inastatus · 04/01/2021 20:43

I’ve just sobbed my heart out! Year 11 DD, no school, no exams. Year 9 DS aiming for a grade 9 in gaming! Fuck sodding dry January!!

AgnesNaismith · 04/01/2021 20:43

@Unsure33 because Bozza said YESTERDAY schools would stay open.....a sentence he repeated again THIS MORNING.

GF.

echt · 04/01/2021 20:43

A heartfelt handhold from Melbourne. It must beyond disheartening to go through all this again.

Thanks 🦘🐨

custardbear · 04/01/2021 20:44

I'm doing dry January 4th ... after that it's fair game in my house and the drinks trolley

Unsure33 · 04/01/2021 20:44

@herecomesthsun

Exactly

It affects everyone of us in some way .

It’s definitely bad , but having lost family members to this virus . I don’t want to lose anyone else .

Thorinfling · 04/01/2021 20:44

@mbosnz

Mate, I have a GCSE'er, an A Leveller, and I'm in a killing mood right now.
Totally hear you. It's so shit for them.
Babyroobs · 04/01/2021 20:44

@WilsonMilson

My DH is sinking into despair about his business, I’m trying to hold it together and remain positive for him. DS has GCSE’s to worry about. Fucking hell when will it ever end?!
Didn't Boris just hint GCSE exams will be cancelled ?
Frequentflier · 04/01/2021 20:45

I am feeling immensely stupid. I moved from India to the UK 4 months ago. India was doing terribly at that time and the UK seemed on the path to normality. Man, was I an idiot. I thought I would be expanding DS's horizons and giving him opportunities, and all he has seen is the inside of his room.

southeastdweller · 04/01/2021 20:45

I don’t give a flying fuck anymore - the restrictions, the infection rates, the death numbers. Yeah flame me if you want but that’s how I feel. Fuck this shit I’d my mantra.

TheBottleIsFullofHappiness · 04/01/2021 20:45

DDs been out of school since 4th December due to an operation.

I have no garden, she's an only child, and I have no family members with similarly aged DC. My only hope is that ExH keeps up his contact with her as his sister has a DC a year older. ExH didn't keep up contact last time and it hit poor DD so hard.

I am dreading this...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/01/2021 20:45

It's not Boris

It isn't the dickheads flouting the rules.

This would have happened whatever precautions were taken. We were told so last March. It's a virus doing what a virus does.

What has NOT happened is a total overwhelming of the NHS. What has happened is a slowing down if the rate of infection. What has happened is some societal changes that have helped slow down infection rates.

Many countries with variations on a lockdown theme are experiencing the same changes.

The GOOD NEWS is that vaccines are already being rolled out. There is something proactive that can now be done.

We just have to take a deep breath and convince ourselves that this really is the beginning of the end. Because it is...

ancientgran · 04/01/2021 20:46

Well I've given in to the allure of a box of chocolates. I swore I was going to lay off them but I decided in an emergency you just have to do what you have to do.

Unsure33 · 04/01/2021 20:46

@AgnesNaismith

He also said he could not rule out closure .

He also said several times he would keep them open as long as possible because he did not want schools to close because they are safe for students . But it was not off the cards

Personally I think his hand has been forced on this one by the unions .

Lovely1a2b3c · 04/01/2021 20:47

@PumpkinSpicedLatte

I can’t cope . PPD, DD is 4 months old (nearly 5), husband is a nurse and has just tested positive , I rely on my support bubble for mental health help but now can’t see them until we are no longer isolating . I’m finding everything hard . My close family moved away just before all this happened so they’ve seen my DD twice . I’ve been off work since Feb last year due to shielding snd then DD was born august, I feel like I’ve been off forever . Due to go back April but feel like I’ve been robbed of my mat leave. Suffered post partum complications. Just so isolated and fed up!
I hope things get better. That sounds really really hard.

Or maybe it's the fact that NHS is 21 days away from being overwhelmed.

Stop blaming the unions. It's so ignorant.

Bapsy · 04/01/2021 20:48

Hate boris

wanderings · 04/01/2021 20:48

What is Boris supposed to bloody do???
He could start by having some fucking INTEGRITY, such as sacking Cummings, stop playing the clown every time he appears, stop making promises he knows he can't keep ("I hope to reopen schools after half term - that practically guarantees it won't happen), stop misleading and gaslighting the public by manipulating figures, stop making policy decisions by leaking things to the press. He has basically lost the public's respect. If he really cared about the "greater good" that he and his merry men keep banging on about, he'd have recognised that he's lost the public's respect, and resign - but oh no, like many prime ministers, he thinks he's God.

nevereverplease · 04/01/2021 20:48

@southeastdweller I agree with you! This is the biggest load of SHIT.

Wrong on all levels, wrong to make it illegal for me to earn a living and get education for my kids.

CarlottaValdez · 04/01/2021 20:48

We just have to take a deep breath and convince ourselves that this really is the beginning of the end. Because it is...

I don’t know how you can be sure of that. I feel like it’ll never end and I wish I wasn’t here.

Unsure33 · 04/01/2021 20:48

@CuriousaboutSamphire

Exactly but I think you are bashing your head against a brick wall.

Boris looks exhausted but he is hated on here and what is happening in the rest of the world is conveniently ignored .

Sobeyondthehills · 04/01/2021 20:49

Exactly! So sick of people who do not get this is a global pandemic and take the opportunity to bash the government

I blame the government for the exact shitstorm we are in, we are back to where we started again and all decisions are last minute, why the fuck did Johnson go on the TV yesterday and declare all schools are safe, keep repeating this and not listen to anyone in education saying they were not, sending in thousands of kids today, rather than just go, lets take the fucking day off for kids.

I am back to just being really angry with everything, DP lost his job at the start of the second lockdown, has just got a new one and now we won't know whether he still had it till tomorrow
