Is your Tier 4 school open today?

Had a text on Friday from the head saying she is monitoring the news and will update us if anything changes. No word since then so I'm presuming school is open today. How many other Tier 4 schools are open? I'm sending DS in as I need to work outside the home but if a lockdown is announced one day at school seems a bit ridiculous.

And yes - completely avoidable last minute chaos south of the border.

T4 North. Primary open. Within 5 minutes DGD sent home as parent complained she was coughing. DgD has had an occasional cough since October. Several negative tests (last negative results came Saturday). Several doctor appointments and shes had a nebulizer and ashma ruled out. Doctors final diagnosis a habitual cough. She might as well stay off and be home schooled as this cough isnt going anywhere and is routinely sent home.

Mrsfussypants1 · 04/01/2021 10:02

Have to add we are all relieved as its made the decision to stay home easier. DGd has not socialized during hols and hasnt been to shops or visited other family but we cant say the same about the other families/teachers at school.

Tier 4 here, cases rising, hospital full. I have atrial fibrillation. We've been extra careful this whole time, didn't see any family at Christmas etc, didn't do eat out to help out. Primary school open as normal. I called this morning to say they wouldn't be coming in because I would feel safer keeping them off and doing the home learning with them (it's all already set up). I was told I was risking being fined and they couldn't tell me whether I would or wouldn't be and would only be told afterwards if I was being fined. I can't afford to pay so against every instinct I have sent them in.

T4 in SE and headteacher emailed yesterday to say they’ve decided to do remote learning (except KW and vulnerable children) for the first 2 weeks - much as my DC is very disappointed not to see his friends I think it’s the right move as ours cases numbers have been rapidly increasing the last few weeks

digthroughtheditches · 04/01/2021 10:12

T4 NW and all windows and doors open. Cold kiddlets.

GameSetMatch · 04/01/2021 10:16

Yes tier 4 and our school is open as usual, not sure how safe it will be but when my husband did the school run this morning he said he only counted 16 children so.....

TessTackle · 04/01/2021 10:20

Hammersmith & Fulham borough, London.

Ours has an inset day today, then closed to everyone bar the vulnerable and children of key workers foe the foreseeable future according to the head’s email.

T4 in NE. Two classes in my kids primary are closed because of "unprecedented staffing issues" but the rest of the school is open. I have one in school and one at home.

realunicorn · 04/01/2021 10:23

Tier 4 , NE - both of my kids primary schools are closed for at least the next two weeks.

One let us know around 4pm and the other around 7.30ish.

No idea about other local schools as not on social media.

Yr6 child brought a pack home a month or so ago with work books and blank workbooks, stationary and a list of passwords and usernames for a host of online resources - we've been provided a weekly timetable and the day will be spent on a google classroom meet with mics on mute ( unless they need help or having a class discussion) so kids have access to their teacher and the teacher can work with the kids.

Yr 3 child supplied with nothing and a post on dojo this morning says they will provide a link for some worksheets for all year groups 'at some point'

One school has a lower ofsted grading - I feel it's obvious which one ( and I have a feeling that the actions of that school will be the most common action in schools this week unfortunately )

Ceara · 04/01/2021 10:26

@mayonegg that's appalling. You shouldn't have to decide between risking fines, and playing Russian roulette with the virus.

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 04/01/2021 10:42

Tier 4 here, with rates around the 400 mark. School and nursery both open as normal.

WinstonmissesXmas · 04/01/2021 10:44

Tier 4, rate is 500, school open but not sending ours in.

WhoLettheCatOut · 04/01/2021 10:45

T3, around 224 per 100k. School closed hopefully reopening tomorrow. No home school today as they are doing more covid prep.

Notonthestairs · 04/01/2021 10:49

Tier 4. 595 per 100k. School open tomorrow. No idea what to do but need to make my mind up soon.

FrancesV83 · 04/01/2021 10:51

My sons school is open tomorrow even though our cases are over 600 per 100k, not sure whether to send him or not to be honest. I’m in Kent.

TheClitterati · 04/01/2021 11:03

Primary open, Y8 working from
Home - school open for exam years only.

Zakidoodles23 · 04/01/2021 12:19

Primary is now closed all week as not enough teachers to open. KW and vulnerable children in from tomorrow. (West Sussex)

wendz86 · 04/01/2021 12:28

Planned inset today but will be open tomorrow. Rate of 851/100000 where we live.

PandemicPalava · 04/01/2021 13:30

Phew, we're closed. Can stop stressing now.
