Rules getting stricter?

According to Boris...he says over the next few weeks.
How much stricter can they get?! Except for school closures I mean.

OP posts:

Yes. All our fast food places were shut in March. No collection, no delivery. The only things open were places like Dimonoes, Pizza Hut etc which had their own delivery service, not via Uber Eats etc.

In November they were collection/takeaway only, no seating open.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 03/01/2021 12:09

Schools will close because the unions are calling on primary staff to refuse to go into school but to work remotely until they can be assured of a safe working environment. The government will not be able to keep schools open if many staff are refusing to go in and citing section 44 as the NEU have asked their members to do today.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 03/01/2021 12:11

Least there hasn't been the suggestion of army dropping food..rations..no one to go outside at all blahh...unless that poster is no more..

Wannabewriter · 03/01/2021 12:12

NS is certainly hinting at tougher restrictions and expecting announcement tomorrow. Fun fun fun.

Jourdain11 · 03/01/2021 12:20

@Pinkflipflop85

The takeaways closed in the first part of lockdown. That's why there were crazy queues at mcdonalds and Costa etc when they reopened.
They didn't have to though, they just did. Presumably because they didn't have good safety measures in place and they were not sure there would be enough demand to justify opening.
Broxigirl · 03/01/2021 12:26

Sturgeon has recalled the Scottish Parliament tomorrow. In my opinion it’s to delay schools reopening (already scheduled for home learning until Jan 18th). They’ve been pussy footing about for too long with half-hearted lockdowns/tiers. Time to get tough on the rule breakers and go for a proper lockdown once and for all.

TalkToMePleasee · 03/01/2021 12:29

This is getting ridiculous now. I'm tier 4 and have been since before Xmas. How much tighter can they make it. Life is shit. This isn't living. Honestly can't see the point any more

movingonup20 · 03/01/2021 12:30

@Honeydukesmum that was their choice, where I lived before independent and local chains of takeaways did not shut and restaurants switched to takeaway. Where I live now there are far fewer takeaways but the pub delivered throughout lockdown 1 & 2!

TalkToMePleasee · 03/01/2021 12:31

We need to hear when things are going to improve etc, not that things will get worse

SpnBaby1967 · 03/01/2021 12:34

Whatever Boris does Wee Nippy and Wales Wankford will try to one up them.

I'm really excited to see how they'll beat Boris if he goes for welding people in their homes and army rations? Maybe shooting the covid dirty disease vector children into outer space?

movingonup20 · 03/01/2021 12:34

@JustVisiting9

Where we are most takeaways do not deliver, no Deliveroo or uber eats here. MPs will be aware of this so saying delivery only is discrimination against those in smaller towns and also single people who don't meet the minimum order for delivery. Takeaway is fine as long as it's click and collect/telephone orders rather than long queues

Lemonpiano · 03/01/2021 12:43

I don't want lockdown, I want transmission and infection rates to be reduced so they can get the vaccine to the vulnerable groups and cancer patients can receive treatment again instead of being condemned to premature/avoidable deaths.

If that's quite ok.

CovidCanDoOne · 03/01/2021 12:54

@TalkToMePleasee I’m with you - Tier 4 since before Christmas. I live on my own, I’m going out of my mind.
Just cracked open a beer because what the fuck else is there to do ?
I’m sick of TV , went to Boots the other day just to get a change from Tesco ( i know not essential but actually feel like I’m on the precipice of completely losing my shit)

HarrietteNightingale · 03/01/2021 12:58

The takeaways closed in the first part of lockdown. That's why there were crazy queues at mcdonalds and Costa etc when they reopened.

Some takeaways did, some didn't. It was up to the individual businesses and whether they felt they could be considered "Covid-safe".

I remember getting a pizza from Papa John (I think) quite early in the lockdown and doing this ridiculous dance with the packaging so it didn't touch anything, letting it cool down and then heating it through in the oven again.

Redbrickwall · 03/01/2021 13:01

@Randominternetbitch

People need to be bolted in their houses, make it illegal to look out of the window or smile or have any positive thoughts or hope. Food needs to heavily rationed and consist only of homemade unleavened bread and water, flour delivered weekly by the army. Every single shop needs shut as they’re non essential. Army patrols needed on every street with orders to shoot to kill anyone who leaves their house for ANY reason. This will be the only way to bring the virus under control.

Or something like that according to the baying media and lockdown lovers. Nothing else will make them shut up and get a life I reckon Hmm

Never was a truer word said. Sick of it all
MrsBlondie · 03/01/2021 13:04

What else can they take away from us.
Sad

I was just about to say everyone will have to sacrifice their first born. Personally if dm chooses too, I'll gladly be gone, life is not worth living
Bitbusyattheminute · 03/01/2021 13:28

Wales are already tighter than tier 4, I think.
Exercise from front door
Non essential shops closed, non essential items cordoned off (although not quite sure what criteria home and bargain are using for that)
No mixing in or outdoors

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/01/2021 13:40

It's not to do with minimal risk from getting / eating takeaway; closing takeaways means less people going to work in hot and crowded kitchen environments where social distancing is impossible.

It also means more businesses to close. My local Indian restaurant survived the first lockdown thanks to takeaways (I'm proud to say I did my bit!) and I'd hate to see them go under now.

Splodgetastic · 03/01/2021 13:47

On the takeaways it took a while for kitchens to be made Covid secure, some places decided not to risk it at first and some local authorities were slow to okay it if it was something like an ice-cream van. There was also some confusion about whether change of use permission was required where takeaway was not previously done. So, it was allowed in the first lockdown, but there were some bureaucratic and other obstacles.

Moonandstars25 · 03/01/2021 13:49

Lots of possibilities still. All pretty crap abs I’m dreading it (been in tier 4 since before Xmas)
Perhaps a nationwide lockdown instead of tiers
Schools closed
Garden centres closed
Hardware stores back to click and collect only (which B and Q did in the 1st lockdown thought they didn’t have to)
At the moment it is work from home unless you can’t so building sites etc are still open, tradesmen can still come and do work in your home even in tier 4- that could be stopped- only essential work outside the home.
No meeting anyone else outside support bubbles for exercise
Zoos etc are still open- these could close
Play parks closed
Nursery for key workers only

Splodgetastic · 03/01/2021 13:51

Maybe getting rid of meeting up with one person outside would help as lots of people round here (tier four) are clearly interpreting that as one other household. But of course the police aren’t really policing this.

Splodgetastic · 03/01/2021 13:52

Changing support bubbles is also allowed now, so maybe they will clamp down on that.

Those kind of people won't be stopped by banning meeting anyone. The rules are clear, they are not interpreting it wrongly, they are ignoring it.

Meeting people outside is exceptionally low risk!
