Rules getting stricter?

Granolaslice · 03/01/2021 11:06

According to Boris...he says over the next few weeks.
How much stricter can they get?! Except for school closures I mean.

OP posts:
crossstitchingnana · 03/01/2021 11:36

Mandatory mask wearing outside? No going out, at all like there was in Spain/Italy? Shutting schools is a given.

Bluntness100 · 03/01/2021 11:36

Why do peoooe do this? He never said that at all. I sat and watched it

He was pushed by Andrew marr on whether restrictions could possibly get tighter, and eventually he said if it got worse they may have to, he couldn’t rule it out. Marr pushed him heavily. Even asked him what type, Ie curfews etc, and Boris wouldn’t be pushed.

Every single person knows if this gets worse, which he said he isn’t expecting by they need to monitor it closely. that restrictions will need to be tightened.

He did not say that restrictions would definitely get tighter over the next few weeks. In fact he even said by spring he things we will be through the worst.

So either you didn’t watch it, or you didn’t understand it. Or you’ve just read some scaremongering media snippet snd not actually bothered to look at what was said.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 03/01/2021 11:36

Most takeaways didnt close last time so don't think they would this time. I cant see schools staying open this whole time that be another u turn. Everywhere Tier 4?

MargeryMcLatchie · 03/01/2021 11:37

@Honeydukesmum

I also agree minimal risk from it
It's not to do with minimal risk from getting / eating takeaway; closing takeaways means less people going to work in hot and crowded kitchen environments where social distancing is impossible.
Beefcurtains79 · 03/01/2021 11:38

People need to be bolted in their houses, make it illegal to look out of the window or smile or have any positive thoughts or hope. Food needs to heavily rationed and consist only of homemade unleavened bread and water, flour delivered weekly by the army. Every single shop needs shut as they’re non essential. Army patrols needed on every street with orders to shoot to kill anyone who leaves their house for ANY reason. This will be the only way to bring the virus under control.

Or something like that according to the baying media and lockdown lovers. Nothing else will make them shut up and get a life I reckon
🤣🤣🤣

I know right? I’ve got popcorn
Sockwomble · 03/01/2021 11:43

It won't be more than the March lockdown and hopefully without the no park bench and sitting on the grass ridiculousness.

CountessFrog · 03/01/2021 11:46

So many people frothing at the mouth loving it

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/01/2021 11:46

Conscription into the Covid Marshalls. All those between 14 and 35 not already involved in 'key work'.
Ration packs delivered to each household, consisting of oats and pasta, and 1toilet roll per person per week
Compulsory Joe Wickes every morning
Nightly clapping.

finkking · 03/01/2021 11:47

I think some will get annoyed that others exist or they can hear them breathing through the walls.
Didn't one poster say she had to keep running into her house when neighbours went into their garden. 🤣

Thewiseoneincognito · 03/01/2021 11:47

Prison sentence for persistent rule breakers? I’m for that.

End this ridiculous click and collect being open, shopping centres are still bustling with people.

Perhaps we start welding people into their homes? It’s seemingly worked for China?

I know right? It wouldn’t be so bad if he actually said what the op is pretending he said, he didn’t. Which makes it a million times worse.

It’s like some sort of fantasy.

Mintjulia · 03/01/2021 11:48

Leaving schools aside for a moment, the only things I think they could add are;

  • moving more areas to Tier 4
  • No travel outside immediate area - 5 miles except for work.
  • Limiting number of people in shops which would be logical given that the new strain is more infectious
  • closing garden centres & moving diy stores to click & collect only
  • enforcing masks/ lone adult shopping in supermarkets
  • Closing car parks at beauty spots so people have to exercise in their home area.
  • Universities to move online for the spring term.
  • a nighttime curfew - 10-6? but surely too draconian!
RoganJosh · 03/01/2021 11:48

In Scotland takeaways were closed till May.

You appear also to be leaving aside is he said no such thing as the op is saying he did,
Honeydukesmum · 03/01/2021 11:56

Can I just add I’m 20 weeks pregnant and 2 toddlers. Partner works outside of home. I don’t ‘froth’ over restrictions - in fact I dread any more curbs. The op asked what else could be changed and I think will primarily will be schools rightly or wrongly ( currently debating if 3 year should have her first ever day next week ( erring not due to staff risk, and pregnancy) ) but there were things closed before that could be closed again by the govt , whether they need to or not .

Honeydukesmum · 03/01/2021 11:57

But I agree with PP he may not have said about it anyway.

lovinglavidaloca · 03/01/2021 11:58

I’m almost certain we had takeaway the whole way through lockdown. Are PPs meaning you couldn’t collect them? Because that’s not the same as them being closed.

People could go out in France/Italy for essential shopping/exercise/essential work. Spain was stricter- I think children were not allowed outside at all for months?

Anyway, none of that really worked long term, as both Italy and Spain have had or are having second waves too.

Frazzled2207 · 03/01/2021 12:03

first thing would be tier 4 everywhere. Other obvious thing (which they may or may not do) is close schools.
Beyond that is hard ,though they could say only allowed out for an hours exercise a day (this was thought to be a rule in march but wasn't actually - just something that Michael Gove said), no more meeting one person, close playgrounds.
When he was last on announcing tier 4 I don't think he conveyed the seriousness of it all tbh. Tier 4 is called STAY AT HOME. So everyone should do exactly that unless you really need to go out.
all jobs should be WFM unless they really can't be - not sure that message is being followed because I know plenty of people that can wfh but their bosses aren't letting them. Bonkers.

Either of the last two should be enough to trigger a full-on revolution Grin

yes, although I think it was delivery only wasn't it? I certainly don't remember queueing up for stuff last time, anywhere. The only place I went was the supermarket and that only because I couldn't get delivery slots.

And the adulation of authorial states like China. Hey, they may be guilty of numerous human rights abuses, rounding up undesirables and sending them to enforced Labour camps but they could get together on NewYears Eve Hmm
