Title says it all I suppose.

I still know no one who has had the virus.

Am I in a minority? Anyone else not know anyone that's had it?

I truley believe it's real. I just don't know anyone that's had it!

Oh and teachers and children in Dd's school

movingonup20 · 31/12/2020 18:00

I had it in March, unfortunately since then I know 3 people who have died of it - though all over 80/serious underlying health conditions and 2 were life limited from those conditions (in other words if it hadn't been Covid they still weren't long for the world

tappitytaptap · 31/12/2020 18:01

A couple of colleagues, my DS’s teacher, one case at nursery, a couple of my friends (one is a teacher). All fine now, none hospitalised.

fatisnotafeeling · 31/12/2020 18:02

I also don't know anyone who's had it.

I have 4 children, 1 at uni and she doesn't know anyone that's has had it
2 in primary and their school have had no cases
1 in nursery also no cases.

My mum works with the vulnerable and she doesn't know anyone, my sister is a social worker for child protection and she doesn't know anyone.

I don't expect it to last but seems very random.

Heartlantern2 · 31/12/2020 18:03

I think people don’t say now through some kind of fear.

The neighbour over the back told me his son currently has it, whilst I didn’t react as didn’t want to seem rude for some strange reason it made me feel totally uncomfortable!! I can’t tell you why but it did. Like that was something private and something he shouldn’t have told me. Almost like he was telling me something private between himsef and his wife, uncomfortable in that way- absolutely god knows why but it made me feel like if I was to get it I’d keep it a secret.

I know I’m strange!! But wondering if others feel the same?

movingonup20 · 31/12/2020 18:04

Oh and my dd must have caught it because she has very specific post covid symptoms, we are awaiting an antibody test results

StarcourtMall · 31/12/2020 18:05

I know loads of people who’ve had it! 4 at work (at different times - not caught from each other) and their kids/husbands/wives, my BIL, at least a dozen kids at my DDs school, my best friend from uni, and my Dads ex boss died from it. Most of the survivors were mild - 3 were quite serious and one has long COVID.

BumbleBeegu · 31/12/2020 18:06

8 children in my Year 2 class have had it (and countless members of their families!!) 12 colleagues, 3 family members and 2 close friends. I'm counting myself exceedingly fortunate to be honest to so far not to have caught it...late 50s and CEV! Shitting myself about going back to teaching on Monday! My class bubble ('bubble' haha!! what a joke!! They make that sound such a nice, safe, fluffy word don't they??) has popped 3 times already...it's not going to get better any time soon with infection rates rising rapidly 😢

housemdwaswrong · 31/12/2020 18:10

I know 11, with 2 deaths resulting from it. Of the 11, 6 were teachers, 3 medical staff and 2 retired. 1 that died had underlying conditions, the other not.

Regularsizedrudy · 31/12/2020 18:20

That must be nice. I wish I lived rurally right now. I know loads of people who’ve had it and feel scared every time I leave the house.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 31/12/2020 18:23

You need to work in a school, or hospital, or care home, or supermarket. The people who are keeping lives going are the people who are getting it. Funnily enough, if you stay at home or stay outdoors, you're alright.

Marchitectmummy · 31/12/2020 18:44

You are quite fortunate to still not know anyone. In the first few months we only knew 2 people but now we know many people who have had it, some in our children's schools, neighbours, friends, colleagues I don't think there are any of the groups we move in who are without illness. We feel very last man standing here. Not all of those we know have made it back to health yet. Its saddening.

yomommasmomma · 31/12/2020 18:48

Lucky you

Suzi888 · 31/12/2020 18:51

My cousin, my relatives (with underlying health conditions who are elderly) and a work colleague. None had symptoms.

SleepingStandingUp · 31/12/2020 18:53

Friends BIL had it before Xmas, in hospital. Then her Mom, in hospital and still there and now her. At home but with a vulnerable DP and DD plus another couple of kids. She feels awful but thankfully coping at home. I wish o didn't know any one

shamus2020 · 31/12/2020 19:08

My ex's cousin died this morning from covid, she was 30 years old Sad

Skipsurvey · 31/12/2020 19:09

i know 2, not my age group, one is a teacher, one is a uni student.

Skipsurvey · 31/12/2020 19:10

so sorry @shamus2020

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 31/12/2020 19:10

DS1 had it and all his friends (Uni)
My aunt died of it in October
Friends DS and friendship group also at Uni
5 colleagues over Christmas including the person who I sit next to (socially distanced)
DS 2 has been sent home from school twice now to self isolate due to outbreaks at school.

sleepwouldbenice · 31/12/2020 19:18

Despite the ignorance and pettiness of the above.... I work from home but still know about 40 to 50 people (through work, school, family, about half caused from not social distancing, not through work...) with 4 deaths, with and without underlying health conditions

But I suspect many more on their way as our rates are shooting up

My sincere condolences to those impacted intensely by this

VinylCafe · 31/12/2020 19:28

I live in Canada. Heard my nephew had a mild case (he lives in a province that is hard hit with cases). I was very Shock to see on Facebook that he still went to pubs and parties while sick - no wonder they are hard hit if young adults act like that.

Scarlettpixie · 31/12/2020 19:28

I know 4 households who had it over Christmas alone.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 31/12/2020 19:32

You should never tempt fate op!

Emmelina · 31/12/2020 19:32

I stopped counting at 20! Colleagues, extracurricular teachers, my sister followed by brother in law and niece, an elderly neighbour passed in May...

DawnAnn · 31/12/2020 19:37

I only know one person who has tested positive for Covid.
