I hope we can keep schools open, which will mean much tougher restrictions everywhere else and for everyone else.
I hope also that the DofE will loom seriously at the system used in other European countries, where students rotate - a group in on one week, then a second group in the next week, turn & turn about, with work to keep them going in the week at home.
And a government announcement which explains clearly, and absolutely that:
in order to keep schools & colleges & nurseries open, everybody must be otherwise pretty much locked down.
In the last lockdown (autumn) too many people completely misunderstood the principles. They said (and I read it in here on MN as well) "Oh well, my DC are mixing with all sorts at school, so it doesn't matter if we mix households at home."
It's precisely because your DC mix at school, that outside of school, everyone needs to remain restricted to their own household.
But our government is just driven by popularity, and that wouldn't go down well. Instead we hospitals across the south at capacity, and in the north heading that way.
