Derbyshire - starting to show a small increase towards the end so I'm wondering what it'll look like once they finally update the data.

Here are the current admission trends for influenza. Part of the reason there are not too many excess deaths ( yet - we all know deaths follow several weeks behind a rise in cases) is because there is virtually no flu this year as COVID measures and reduced travel meaning it hasn’t spread around the world.

Also most people with COVID in hospital won’t die but they still need care and beds and the very sick ones are often in an ITU or high dependency bed for a long time.

South Wales near the coast here, all schools closed from the 11th Dec and our cases started to drop at the same time. The middle drop is from the welsh 2 week firebreak. 696 cases per 100,000 from 14th-20th Dec.

Mine’s pretty impressive at the moment but as PP said the actual figures are lagging behind, so given that and the new variant I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t about to take off again.

Thank you for starting this thread. I was contemplating doing the same a couple of days ago! The trend is shocking here. I am a CV TA and absolutely terrified at the prospect of retuning to the classroom with numbers like this

I dont know how they decide tier 3 and 4 or what the numbers need to be. But that's fast.

@RememberSelfCompassion not quite tripled but it is quite scary! We are a prime London second home area though...

@rememberselfcompassion I'm almost certain we will be tier 4 imminently. Southampton is our nearest major hospital and they are already rammed with patients from Kent and the South East. We will struggle hospital wise very quickly

Ours has dipped very slightly but still at 800+ per 100,000.
