Do you think tier five will happen

Or just just being said as scare tactic? What else could they really stop people doing?

OP posts:
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/12/2020 14:14

I agree about enforcement. For example, travel where not permitted, you should appear in the magistrates court (to allow you the basics of justice and tell if there really was a genuine reason) and then points on your driving licence if guilty. Police roadblocks at certain places, or even the military.

You’re living in cloud cuckoo land. Do you have any idea of the work that goes into a court case, or the current backlog of cases? Where do you think they’re going to get the extra police, magistrates and court space that would be needed?

shinynewapple2020 · 29/12/2020 14:21

And where do you start and end with this? Fair enough if it's people driving from London to Cornwall but how does police stopping people from driving 5 miles to walk their dog in a field help anybody ???

Courts are currently throwing out minor misdemeanour charges at the moment because of the backlog in our judicial system thanks to us deciding to stop managing all other aspects of our society due to Covid - so you haven't got a hope of this delightful road blocked dystopian Stasi like society you're clearly so keen on.

And anyway, study after study shows that lockdowns don't work and yet still that appears to be all so many on here, and our inept politicians, seem to want. I am currently being forced, against my will and without any sound reasoning, to live in the very definition of insanity.

Ah yes, all those available court slots they’ve got available.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/12/2020 15:21

I worked in the court service 20 odd years ago and the slots were full then. That was before court buildings were mothballed here so I dread to think what it’s like now but never mind, I’m sure they can throw out those pesky cases to make way for the all important Covid cases

You would of course be in the public gallery rubbing yourself with excitement of it all.

Interestingly, I live in a town with no police station. No police presence at all. A family member once reported a burglary and assault, and it took 48 hours for a policeman to come out. In the summer, someone in the village had a small child’s birthday party in the garden. Fully within the restrictions at the time, they even had the children in their own ‘zone’ to maintain distance. Someone reported it and the police were there within the hour (and left again as they were within restrictions). Turns out they can find resource when it’s really important Hmm, like an outdoor, socially distanced birthday party of 3 children.
AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 29/12/2020 16:51

Other countries did this this the first time round and still cases exploded when rules relaxed? So what difference would it actually make

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 29/12/2020 16:52

The latest figures for postive tests are out

coronavirus.data.gov.uk

and it's over 50k

  • a 22.7% rise when the total number of tests is up 0.5%

Hospital admissions up 16.8% with 2322 admitted, and a further 414 people have died (down 4%)

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 29/12/2020 16:53

Unless, of course, they intend to keep everyone at T5 until the end of year when maybe most are vaccinated

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 29/12/2020 16:57

@HerrWanksock probably the most sensible post I have seen on here for a while, honestly people seem to be incapable of looking at the bigger picture due to covid tunnel vision.

Don’t know how some will cope when the next pandemic comes along and it could be a proper killer that affects all ages equally, but sorry we nothing we can do cause we jizzed all the money on covid

LegoAndLolDolls · 29/12/2020 16:57

@InTheLongGrass

Tier 5 - schools shut, one exercise trip a day, and not to leave local area - defined as same first half of pistcode.
I hope not as there are no food shops within four miles of me.

Only doable if I put the kids into care as I wouldnt be able to feed them. What suits you, might be extremely dangerous for others who dont live in your exact same set up.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 29/12/2020 17:00

@LegoAndLolDolls yep, some posters forget there are some of us who live rurally. Like you my nearest supermarket is 5 miles away

MollyMinniesMum · 29/12/2020 17:30

I think tier 56437 will happen sadly

Pinkerbells · 29/12/2020 17:32

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

In tier 5 they will confiscate everyone's car keys and we will have to wear a full diving suit and air tanks to the supermarket.
Closely followed by tier 6 where we will be banned from opening a window or door more than once a day, and time limited (naturally)
DHdweller · 29/12/2020 17:37

Yes but not tomorrow

Whycantibeapuppy · 29/12/2020 17:42

@Sobeyondthehills

I think they are going to put it in place for New Year, Restrictions on when you can leave your house and curfew
They’ve cancelled new year here in Portugal with a stay at home restriction from 11pm New Year’s Eve. Depressing but so necessary. People here generally follow the rules and there are arrests if a Covid positive enters a public area. The government are quite good and tighten restrictions every time there an increase. The thought of still being in the U.K. right now terrifies me.
moonbeam3 · 29/12/2020 17:45

Yes I think they will be a tier 5 always thought there was another tier not sure what the restrictions would be

sima74 · 29/12/2020 17:47

Nope, I don’t know anyone that would stick to this only one outing a day nonsense, I certainly will not.

eeyore228 · 29/12/2020 17:50

Right now there are cafes opening because they offer takeaway. Click and collect is available. There are no restrictions on outdoor exercise. In short they could force these outlets to close and literally keep everyone on the same regime as March. There are way more people out than we want to acknowledge. They can close all the schools again too.

fordk · 29/12/2020 17:52

we should go into tier 5 due to the small number of people not following the rules and we should enforce a 7pm cerfew except for people who need to go to work and if people are in the street after 7pm without a very good reason fine them £200 every time they are caught may then we can get to grip with covid-19 also make it law that every one who is outside of their home os car must wear a face mask come on britain lets all get a grip to over come this virus

purplebunny2012 · 29/12/2020 17:57

@Pastanred

they wont lockdown! so dramatic.

Treatment is better.
The vaccine is round the corner.
Tiers/regional best given numbers now are still massively lower than April

I'm under 50. I'll be lucky to get the vaccine before the end of the summer
Pastanred · 29/12/2020 17:58

My too purple and I don’t expect t or even feel I need it

There’s a reason why we are so far down the list

yphtutor · 29/12/2020 18:01

Therein lies the problem seems a lot of people can’t control themselves and behave in a responsible manner which is why it’s spreading like wildfire. How many of you broke the rules over Christmas? We didn’t and my whole household have Covid. Wide age range, did not go out or mix with others have shopping delivered. I hope those of you who did break the rules of the tier system aren’t unfortunate enough to get it. Sadly I think everyone will because of the selfishness of others

islockdownoveryet · 29/12/2020 18:01

I don't understand what a 7pm curfew will do ? I frequently go for a run after work it's usually after 7pm , so me staying home not getting any exercise will stop me catching or passing Covid on . Hmm Sorry but a curfew is a ridiculous idea , why are people so against going outside for exercise. Going to non essential shops ok / close schools ok but you can't keep shops open and schools but impose a curfew.
