HappyFlamingo · 11/01/2021 19:16

The rates per 100K for every council in England is updated on the homepage of www.covidmessenger.com with today's latest govt data release.

It's a quick way to compare your council and neighbouring councils versus the rest of England.

Frankly, I think there is reason for cautious optimism. If you look at Kent (the county that first had high prevalence of the new variant) there are signs that things are beginning to turn in recent days. I published a detailed post about this here:
www.covidmessenger.com/latest-analysis/

It's important for the rest of the country as it gives an indication as to how the new variant responds to various social restriction measures. As I explain in the post - Kent had the equivalent of a full lockdown over the holidays.

It's a relief that cases do appear to have topped out and are starting to fall.

It’s going down! Still double the national average and far far too high but it’s the first bit of positive news in quite a while (SE London)

Pastanred · 12/01/2021 18:02

christmasinjune

Yes they're high tho they were about 800 when we were only area in tier 3 and they reduced to 90 with the testing - mad that the testing isn't working now tho as testing of asymptomatics is still available daily and not bringing rate down - data shows 60% under 40 which makes sense as everyone i know is at work

littleowl1 · 12/01/2021 18:04

The rates per 100K for every council in England are updated on the www.covidmessenger.com homepage for anyone who wants to check.

You can also click the county column to sort by county so you can quickly see the rates in all the councils in your area easily.

ConfusedcomMum · 12/01/2021 18:12

Our local rate is falling though, wonder if we've passed our local peak?

MrsMiaWallis · 12/01/2021 18:13

Still rising but at a slightly slower rate.

I’ve heard about 10 people in the past two days, 2 taken to hospital.
