Do you think we will see worse numbers than April?

I remember early April, deaths from Covid peaked to nearly 1k a day for a couple weeks. Is it going to get as bad again do you think? There wasn't much testing then but I wonder how many cases they had before the peak...:-(

I dont think RIshi is an idiot I think he is quietly making a (slightly threatening) point which is that we just dont have the means to go on with this much longer. We cant keep propping up lockdown after lockdown after lockdown. March is probably it - if we havent got vaccines working then or enough immunity then who knows.

But the truth is that death figures are not what is driving this - it is hospital rates

Which is why the vaccination priorities are closely aligned to who is most vulnerable and likely not just tomdie but also to require (possibly lengthy) hospitalisation.

Once we have done the first 6 (at least, or 8) priorities, the world could look very different.

@TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair
We don't agree, but:

  1. I see where you are coming from
  2. i really appreciate the normal tone :)

It's a case of let's agree to disagree.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 27/12/2020 21:28

Smile It's ok, the world would be very boring if we all thought the same way! And none of us really knows what is about to happen, in reality.

TheSunIsStillShining · 27/12/2020 21:46

Has anyone seen any sort of projection regarding how many vaccines they can do a week once the Oxford one has started?

PrincessNutNuts · 27/12/2020 22:51

@TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair

I am worried that the government are over promising again on the vaccines. And gambling on the supplies of the vaccines arriving at the right times to at least give the appearance of fulfilling their promises

No, we know full well we have many millions of doses of the Oxford vaccine lined up. It's been sorted for months.

I haven't been able to find info on the Astra Zeneca delivery schedule.

Maybe not worse in daily numbers. I think it will go on a lot longer passing the death toll recorded during the worst of it.

hettyhooverdoover · 30/12/2020 17:03

So we the new numbers announced today - 981 it seems our numbers have reached the April peak
:-( I wonder if its a backlog from Xmas? Wishful thinking?

FourTeaFallOut · 30/12/2020 17:05

No, not just wishful thinking. There is absolutely a backlog in the registering of deaths over Christmas and a big rise was to be expected.

Yes, let's hope things level out again.

It will be some backlog some reality, looking at Northern Ireland a tiny part of Britain on the Island of Ireland their daily death rates are very high, the virus is spreading like wildfire their hospital are at full capacity, ambulance services are queuing outside.
The infection rate is rising everywhere.
I'd say judging by Germany the high death numbers yesterday, it is now or not far behind worse than April.
if Germany are losing so many we've no hope

hettyhooverdoover · 06/01/2021 16:59

I wrote this post the end of December and looking at todags figures of 1k deaths i have the answer to my question. It is as bad as April and chances are it will get worse. :-(
