Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

So sorry for your difficult time with DS, PickaChew. Hopefully it will get better soon. My DGCs' school has been brilliant during the Pandemic.

SomeaddedSugar, you might find that you get the vaccine earlier - I reckon that we're about two weeks at least before we anticipated.

My arm is still sore, but a small price to pay. Good news about the Oxford Vaccine overnight.

Florelei · 03/02/2021 09:32

Morning - I’m off to the Centre for Life today with my DM. I’m quite nervous actually. It’s ages since I’ve been into Newcastle!

Have a good day everyone.

gingercat02 · 03/02/2021 13:09

Hope it all went smoothly @Florelei. Mum was very impressed with the C4L vacc centre

Florelei · 03/02/2021 15:08

Thanks @gingercat02 - we are just back. My DM got the AZ jab. We were very impressed by the whole set up at the centre for life.

Thanks to @NUFC69 and @gingeristhenewblack43 for sharing your/your family experiences and helping put my mind at rest.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 03/02/2021 19:13

So pleased @Florelei that your DM has had her first dose. Great news!

I've had a shitter of a day. Pulled off my drive this morn and my car sounded like a souped up boy racer car. I thought the exhaust had a hole in it but was on my way to support a CEV client get her vaccine. Got half way up my street and my car was chugging along so pulled over. Looked under my car and my exhaust was hanging off at the front.

Rang a colleague who shot down to support my client, and all sorted there 🙌🏻

Rang the RAC who turned up 3 hours later, obvs not priority as I was basically a home start. RAC guy took one look under my car and said 'your catalytic converter has been stolen, you need to phone the police'.

Apparently it's rife, particularly on Japanese cars like Toyota and Honda, but also Mitsubishi.

I'm done with 2021 already. Last month DD fell over at school and fractured her right front tooth and snapped her left one. Yes they are both 2nd teeth.

I know compared to others my woes are small but 😭

Florelei · 04/02/2021 08:44

It’s such a relief @gingeristhenewblack43!

I’m sorry to hear about your car. That’s terrible that someone has stolen from your car.

I hope your DD can get some proper treatment from the dentist. What a nightmare.

Fingers crossed 🤞 for a better rest of 2021 for you.

Someaddedsugar · 04/02/2021 18:24

Hope you're ok @gingeristhenewblack43 Thanks. And hope your DD is ok!

It feels like the rain just isn't stopping at the moment! I'm actually looking forward to the cold so that the rain stops Grin

I've had a busy start to the week and can't believe it's nearly Friday! Looking for a treat for the weekend and I think I'm going to attempt to recreate the Graze and Gorge breakfast platter with bits from Lidl and Sainsburys.

Just in case this is of interest, North Tyneside has delivered 30,000 Covid vaccines as of today and the hospitals have vaccinated almost all of their staff. I think as a region we should be really proud of our vaccination levels

gingeristhenewblack43 · 04/02/2021 20:51

Thank you @Florelei and@Someaddedsugar. My car is back home and I'm almost £400 down. DD's teeth are going to be a long term investment, but she's been an absolute trooper.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 04/02/2021 20:54

@gingercat02 brilliant news for North Tyneside! 🙌🏻

Almost 10.5 million 1st doses administered across the UK. Our NHS and many volunteers are nailing this ❤️

clareykb · 04/02/2021 22:24

33,000 in Gateshead my Dad is a vacinator and he's on the press release of picture...he has sent it to everyone even though he's in scrubs and a mask and to can't really tell it's him 😂

MrsEWeatherwax · 05/02/2021 12:44

Co Durham figures still going down, but we are back up to average, other places are obviously falling faster than us.
Can I just moan about the weather, snow, rain and now bloody fog.
It’s such good news about everyone getting the vaccine.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 05/02/2021 13:02

I was just chatting to my manager on the phone and he told me to stop moaning about the weather as it's keeping everyone at home. Although we just have rain, persistently pissing down rain. Since Tuesday morn. ☔️☔️☔️

PickAChew · 05/02/2021 13:20

And more rain and more rain and then several days of snow. I was out, yesterday, and got so cold waiting for dh to pick me up that it just completely sapped my energy for the rest of the day. The rain didn't stop markses from being busy and it's not a lot of joy for people whose homes have been flooded or who can't afford to heat their houses well so I think we're quite entitled to a good moan.

Sorry about your car, ginger. Absolute buggers.

Ds2 managed to break his glasses, last night. Thankfully he had a spare pair and it didn't take too much of a battle to get him to wear them. DH took them into specs avers, earlier, and they said that frame has been discontinued so they might not be able to replace it. That also gives us the fun of getting him to accept a new style, next time 😑

Someaddedsugar · 06/02/2021 07:43

It didn't stop Sainsbury's being busy either @PickAChew. I got there at about 4pm and struggled to spot a space straight away! First time that's happened since Christmas!

Someaddedsugar · 06/02/2021 07:44

I also hope they manage to find a pair of frames for DS - hopefully a store will still have a pair in stock!

PickAChew · 06/02/2021 13:23

Yeah, they're ringing around for some. There's a couple of similar designs on the website. He's actually due a test, soon, but the logistics of that might be tricky. Ds1 is due his test, as well but doesn't feel safe. He's not been in a shop since last June, before masks became mandatory.

NUFC69 · 06/02/2021 15:29

@PickAChew , I hope you can get the specs sorted out soon. I am on yearly tests (cataracts), I was due last July at Boots in Eldon Square, but haven't been yet. I am not using the Metro or buses at the moment - once I am at least partly covered by the vaccine I must make an appointment.

The snow has just started to fall, almost exactly on time.

PickAChew · 06/02/2021 16:23

It's still rain, here. We had a lull, this morning so Ds2 actually got a walk and I aired the house a bit, as it's beginning to feel clammy, even with the heating on. I only went to the (very) local shops and back because it was pickling down again, by the time I got out.

gingercat02 · 07/02/2021 11:06

We have finally had a tiny bit of snow at the coast. Sky looks threatening so DS is hoping for more 🌨☃️❄

MrsEWeatherwax · 07/02/2021 15:26

gingercat02, I really hope it snows lots for you. I’m very generous. It’s snowing here but not heavy, but it’s so dull. Wish I could see the sun.

gingercat02 · 10/02/2021 09:57

@MrsEWeatherwax thanks, it took a while but we have proper snow this morning ☃️❄🌨

PickAChew · 10/02/2021 13:18

I might take Ds2 out for a, wee plodge in it, later.

The woodpigeon currently sat on our fence looks less than impressed, mind.

And we're crossing fingers that our knackered concrete garage roof doesn't completely crumble, under the weight. The guy who is supposed to be fixing it is having a problem sourcing materials, particularly roof felt, at the moment.

MrsEWeatherwax · 10/02/2021 15:20

Pleased you are happy with the snow, hope you enjoy. Bet there is enough for a big ⛄️.
Hope the roof survives PickAChew.
There is so much snow here, I hate it. Been to Durham today, what a depressing visit.
I wish I could hibernate till spring.
Co Durham figures still coming down.

Someaddedsugar · 10/02/2021 20:00

I'm not a fan of the snow but took DS for a long walk at lunchtime to blow the cobwebs away and I really enjoyed it, especially with the sun shining! We then went for another walk this evening with DP and DDog and the sun fading definitely makes a difference - it was freezing! I'm not looking forward to getting off our estate in the car tomorrow.

The bus station renovation in Durham appears to be starting - there are lots of hoarding boards going up everywhere. I'm a bit confused about where the buses are going to go - I can imagine that being a bit chaotic!

Pleased that Co Durham figures are falling @MrsEWeatherwax - I spotted online that the exit plan is to be announced w/c 22 February - feels like there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Hope everyone's ok and as well as they can be (including your roof @PickAChew!).
