@JayAlfredPrufrock well you’re fucked

RedToothBrush · 21/12/2020 00:00

@OhDear2200

Lying in bed panicking. We’ve got LOADS of alcohol in, but little fresh veg. Having to resist the urge of getting out of my bed to go buy veg at midnight.

Some one slap me.

slap

Im in bed.

My fridge has a pack of hallomi, 2 pints of milk, 3 and 1/2 tubs of margarine, 1 and a half packs of butter, a bottle of ketchup, some home made cherry brandy, mince oie gin and fig brandy, brewers yeast, 6 eggs, half a jar of out of date jalepenos, a manky old cabbage, a bowl of pizza dough and 1 bottle of home brew in it at the moment.

It is a very sorry sight (my freezer is full at least) but im not going to the supermarket tonight. No way.

VulvaPerson · 21/12/2020 00:01

Thanks for the offer. We have wine already..and..rum. Priorities Blush

Might have to go to my mums for xmas afterall now. Apparently she got 300 quid worth of shopping for xmas weekend Hmm Which will surely mainly go to waste so might actually go and help her not waste food. Thats my excuse, and am sticking to it..

OhDear2200 · 21/12/2020 00:02

@RedToothBrush thank you!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 21/12/2020 00:02

as a fellow Scot I'm going to suggest it is also our Salmon?

Not only that, 70 percent of it is our gin!

My only positives atm are the fact that I have 8 bottles of (Scottish) gin in the larder (and parsnips) and dh has an EU citizenship as well as a UK one. I'm actually glad that Christmas has been cancelled because multiple days of being polite to my brexit voting mum and inlaws (yep EU citizen mil voted too) would be impossible right about now

I hope there are no trucks full of live animals sitting on the side of the M20

snowballer me too Sad

Do they get some kind of priority treatment, does anybody know?

timeforanewstart · 21/12/2020 00:05

For those saying eu countries do have control over borders this is only a temp measure bought in during unusual circumstances
But like others have said Im sure i have read other eu countries have had this strain , so if thats the case then its very dodgy just cutting us off

Fuckingcrustybread · 21/12/2020 00:07

@DrizzleandDamp

*Bold fail there. Lack of paperwork doesn't mean that vegetables cannot be grown. Obviously you have no fucking clue about how a business works. For a no comment, you really said a lot of bollocks*

I work in food chains for a commercial organisation. Lack of paperwork means we simply can’t export and import without country of origin labelling, health certificates, border controls and many many other things.

We can’t grow anything many things without seeds, fertilisers, chemicals, pots and poly tunnels, and equipment. Mostly all imported.

But keep on believing.

I will , just like you'll keep on believing that on 31st December the U K is fucked.
DecemberDiana · 21/12/2020 00:08

Will Boris propose taking back Calais ?

timeforanewstart · 21/12/2020 00:09

Also this is not the same situation as brexit so people stop comparing.
For all we know this strain could if come from elsewhere as I don't think its exclusive to uk from buts I have read
Guess we will know more soon bit italy , germany etc all have quite rising cases as did france a few weeks ago

Heathcliff27 · 21/12/2020 00:10

@Sillysop92

Thank god there’s a couple of cases of Cliquot in the cellar 😂🍾
Would it be terrible of me to maybe panic buy a case or two tomorrow
ElephantWhaleRabbit · 21/12/2020 00:11

It’s all OK because when no deal hits we’ll have plenty of fish to go round.

DrizzleandDamp · 21/12/2020 00:11

@drizzleanddamp Anything for our ffrindiau Cymru

Diolch!!

PandemicPavolova · 21/12/2020 00:11

Taking back calais 😂😂

This thread has really cheered me up just when for the first time since some days in march, I felt panicked.

It would certainly be something for us all to focus on and take our minds of the crisis.

Covidnomore · 21/12/2020 00:12

Because of Covid things are not where they should be!
Even if it's only 48 hours, its going to have a massive impact on the supply chain. And then if its no deal, or any deal, we have issues due to all the extra paperwork.

We are going to have issues. How big these will be I don't know.

Its not just the actual food. Its the packaging etc that is needed to get it in a state to sell to us.

DecemberDiana · 21/12/2020 00:12

We need a group project.

Littlewhitedove2 · 21/12/2020 00:12

Do not panic buy fresh produce!! You will not eat it all or need it all and end up throwing it out whilst depriving some other family of anything at all.

PandemicPavolova · 21/12/2020 00:12

Elephant, that would be no bad thing, at all.

We should be eating more fish as a nation, our displays and supply's are pitiful compared to other countries. Its also so expensive, it should be cheap and plentiful.

DrizzleandDamp · 21/12/2020 00:13

Iwill , just like you'll keep on believing that on 31st December the U K is fucked.

And where exactly have I said this? You said farmers were prepared. Other than the progressives I beg to differ, and they are hamstrung by practicalities.

It’s going to be an incredibly difficult volatile year, the market will balance itself ever really it always does, we are adaptable creatures.

Butterymuffin · 21/12/2020 00:15

@Mamamia456

It's only France that have said that for 48 hours. We will still have freight coming from other countries so no need to worry.
By what route? And on what, hoverboard?
TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 21/12/2020 00:15

@ListeningQuietly

The UK voted repeatedly to be a Sovereign Island Nation free of the shackles of Europe

52% of the population should be delighted
that COVID has brought it forwards by ten days

Yes, all that uber cheap lobster will make all the difference. Sad
timeforanewstart · 21/12/2020 00:16

Numbers are going up in European countries as well in last few weeks
Incl france a few weeks ago and now we have high cases in se including kent ???
I will be surprised if this isn't in europe already due to all travelling etc
