My mum. My cousin. My mum's cousin and his partner. 3 of my work colleagues.

No one needed hospital treatment. Everyone recovered fine apart from one who has long Covid - she is obese so that may be a factor. Then there was my grandfather's brother in law, he died from it - he was elderly with COPD.

I am in a tier 3 area.

2
1 was the SIL of my friend. Only had a mild sore throat and headache.
Other one was DHs cousin. Recovering ok.

Ylvamoon · 20/12/2020 21:22

2 work colleagues. All had mild symptoms (- one is classed as vulnerable).

I know significantly more people with varying stages of cancer than those that have had Covid

frumpety · 20/12/2020 21:26

Up until about 4 weeks ago, including patients I work with in the community, 10 in total since March. Now, not including those 10, 27 people who I know have tested positive, a few needed hospital treatment, all have fortunately recovered.

Runnerduck34 · 20/12/2020 21:26

Crikey, so many people know of lots of cases, i live in kent zone 4 so very high infection rate but still only know of 2 people who have tested positive, my work colleague and my friends sister, both currently have it but are at home and doing ok. Me and dc had symptoms in march/ april but no testing available then so cant be sure if we had it .

I know 28 people who have tested positive in the last 3 weeks. I'm in Kent

grapefruitish · 20/12/2020 21:27

5 dead, 30+ recovered or currently ill.

frumpety · 20/12/2020 21:28

Only one of those 27 was a patient.

itsgettingweird · 20/12/2020 21:29

Officially I know 2 who tested positive.

Unofficially I know 5 who has it - including me - back in March.

I then know of 3 people who have died/ had severe illness through a colleague as family members if theirs.

itsgettingweird · 20/12/2020 21:30

Oh actually know if another who tested positive - my ds neurologist

CatherineCawood · 20/12/2020 21:30

Not sure how to define that word 'know'.

People who had lab-confirmed covid & would know my name:
0 in UK & 2 outside UK.

I hear anecdotes about other people I have met who had covid. One is a young man with Long Covid. Others were less affected afaik.

QueenOfCatan · 20/12/2020 21:33

Technically none that I know. But we suspect DH and I had it back in March and my sister (who saw us just before we got ill) also got ill. All three of us very rarely get ill but we were all floored by whatever we had and it was just before Lockdown.

Bumsnet2021 · 20/12/2020 21:33

I tested positive after a routine test prior to a hospital appointment.

Dh also had it. We wouldn't have known if I hadn't been due a hospital admission and sure as he'll didn't go around telling everyone we knew.

So, don't assume people you know who have "had it" will have told yiu and don't assume people who have "had it" even know them selves.

Estimate for UK a few weeks ago were that at that point 1% of people in the UK were infected - at that particular time.

So if you know 100 people, chances are one of them "had it" on any particular day at the start of December, and loads others have had it during the year.

Those figures will be higher now.

So, of the people posting on this thread so far its almost guaranteed some have it NOW - never mind have had it prior to now.

ragged mine are all people who I would stop and talk to in the street, know the name of their dogs, children go to school with mine, that sort of level of 'know'. We have had a bit of a localised super spreader outbreak though, not sure it is the same across the wider local area.

joystir59 · 20/12/2020 21:35

4, all tested positive, 1 is a nurse, 1 lives with the nurse and the other two are paramedics. All recovered well although 1 had residual breathing problems.

PaperMonster · 20/12/2020 21:37

I’ve lost count. Three have died though.
