Why do people keep saying that others are prolonging this?

Raiseny · 20/12/2020 00:25

It’s driving me mad! It’s a virus! Socialising isn’t prolonging it or setting us back, it’s making it risky for the nhs to manage. Of course that’s something we need to consider but wake up! There’s other illnesses, mental health being key here, that matter.

The virus isn’t going away. Tiers or no tiers. It’s a virus! It mutates, as all Coronaviruses do. I’m so sick of the virtue signalling like meeting a friend for a coffee has caused the virus to stay around longer. It hasn’t.

Stop making people feel bad for needing their friends and family enough to risk transmission. Am I really on my own with this?!

OP posts:
Hawkins001 · 20/12/2020 01:56

There is an app plague Inc, that if the virus has no people to infect it stops the spread and is containable, how then op, does it not ?

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 01:57

Ive got nothing against children in particular.
Ive got one of my own.
Im losing a fortune because I usually earn tips and furlough doesnt include tips.

PhilCornwall1 · 20/12/2020 01:57

But what’s the lesser of two evils? People suffering or people dying?

I'd say people dying.

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 01:59

This week last year I earned £200 in tips.
Not a fortune to most people here but a lot to me.

LittleSpyintheSky · 20/12/2020 01:59

Perhaps you would like to come and take my place on CPAP OP?

You think if you catch it you will be okay, don’t you? So that’s alright then.

Show a little common humanity before you lose yourself

Turtleshelly · 20/12/2020 02:01

The more the virus spreads, the more it spreads and mutates. Those avoiding restrictions make the virus spread further and mutate and lead to stricter restrictions. It’s so ironic and frustrating that the rest of us have to face stricter restrictions because some wanted none. It’s not politely here to stay in a nice “oh well” way, it’s here to survive and mutate and infect us all and live. But we have a vaccine. So let’s try not screwing it up by letting it get so bad the vaccine doesn’t work.

'I used it as another, more provocative word for kids. .brat used to mean spoilt, obnoxious, precocious.'???

'and your brats are in school'

All children going to school are brats? Should families have refused to send their kids to school?

Children don't get a choice in this stuff. It's down to government and their parents.

'I hope most children are not those things but I think I would be disappointed.'

You think most children in the entire country are awful?

I think you are directing your anger at the wrong group. Children don't have much agency. Direct it at the parents or the government. The grown ups.

I mean. They're just children. I know we're not a child friendly country but your posts really focus unusually strongly on children.

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 02:03

Anyone on furlough that usually relies on tips or commissions, or earns more than 2.5k a month is losing money.
I'd rather be at work earning my fortune that sitting at home on 60% pay.

Turtleshelly · 20/12/2020 02:04

And the economy and other healthcare are affected whatever we do. No lockdown? Hospitals overrun. Healthcare affected, and economy affected by all the sick as in 1918-19.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:06

Your fortune?

60%?

You know loads of people have lost their jobs full stop?

You know loads of families are in or are heading for poverty?

I don't get it. Are you being deliberately provocative? Or are you just very self centred?

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:10

DH has worked through the whole thing. He's not in healthcare or anything.

We have kids. Little bastards, sorry. We have two little bastards who are personally ruining bluebell's life.

Would it be better if the virus killed children? I'm thinking yes? Then the little brats would be gone and the grown ups could work and get their fortunes.

DH has had 4 colleagues die of covid. 4. He's not an NHS person or anything.

But yeah erm...

What exactly do you want instead bluebell?

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 02:12

Ive nothing against children in particular.
In think most people are self serving at the very least.
Some aren't. Most are.
Children are the same, some are lovely.
Most are spoilt or obnoxious and need a lot of correcting that they dont get.
It was one word.
Hardly relavent to the original post.
Im happy that kids are in school.
Im not happy with people using that as an excuse to do what they like because we're mixing with 30 families anyway.

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 02:19

Little bastards, sorry. We have two little bastards who are personally ruining bluebell's life.

Did I say that?
Ive no idea if your children are bastards or not.
Its not children ruining my life.
I used one word.
Brats. Hardly on a par with bastards in any universe.
Brats. Its one word.
I dont think it takes away from my post or has any relevance to the op.

Yes I know some people are in poverty.
Im a single parent I know all about poverty thanks very much.
I'll be losing my job too if people keep spreading this thing around.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:19

You're the one who focused on brats.

I don't get it. Get angry with the parents. Little kids or even older ones aren't deciding the tiers or whether to see granny.

'Most are spoilt or obnoxious and need a lot of correcting that they dont get.'

You don't like children. I mean. Obviously.

All these deaths and stuff are not the fault of what. Children aged 0-16.

I get that you want to be angry with a group but children seems like a shit one to pick.

The UK is not a child friendly country though.

Tell you what. DH is in a job which has been hit as badly or worse than NHS workers. He's been out and about all the way through. Dd2 has asthma. Maybe you'll get lucky eh and he'll take one of the brats out of the game.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:24

Tell you what! Do you live in London? Or near?

DH is also at risk and so are many of his colleagues. He personally knows 4 people who have died. TFL pay pretty well due to the unions and there must be opportunities from the suddenly vacated roles. That might be something you could look into? Keep an eye on their website. Also bus drivers, quite a lot dead in London.

So maybe accept your 60%, and look into that in the meantime?

It won't be the fortune you were after though.

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 02:27

Its one word.
Ive nothing against children in particular.
Extrapolating brats to bastards is really poor form and says more about you than it does about me. I didnt say let alone even imply that.
Good for your dh.
Obviously i dont hope children will die what a ridiculous and callous aspersion on the back of one word..
Brats.
I can think of much worse.
If your dh has powers to take people out on the back of posts on mn can you ask him to take out all the nonces and rapists that cross his path??

Blubellsarebells · 20/12/2020 02:37

Im nowhere near London.
Ive looked for other jobs but weirdly enough theres not much about right now, especially as a single parent with childcare constraints for my little brat and a job that could call me back at any time.
£200 is hardly a fortune to most people on here. But it is to me and its money I wont and cant earn because of restrictions.
So yes I am.pissed off.
Not with kids but with ignorant twats that will not follow the rules including people in my own family.
Im just sick of the whole bloody thing

myhobbyisouting · 20/12/2020 02:38

🤨😆 what is going on here?

@Blubellsarebells "extrapolating" Christ. I bet you're a barrel of laughs

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:39

In your more recent post you said

'Most are spoilt or obnoxious and need a lot of correcting that they dont get.'

There are 12 million children in the UK. If most are little fuckers, sorry. Brats. That's a lot.

What percentage do you mean when you say most. Are spoilt or obnoxious.?

'If your dh has powers to take people out on the back of posts on mn can you ask him to take out all the nonces and rapists that cross his path??'

I don't understand this comment at all. What do you mean? He's not killing people? You think he's killed his colleagues?

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:40

He's a TFL employee not a hit man.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:41

Why do you think he is mixing with child rapists?

I'm a bit confused.

I mean his job is very very male dominated but.. erm what?

"Maybe you'll get lucky eh and he'll take one of the brats out of the game."
What does this mean??

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:56

I don't understand your approach/ responses.

Why are you so angry? And at children?

He can't take people out of the game generally. He's been out working all the way through. He has risk factors. He's working in a role that has seen a high death rate. He personally knows 4 colleagues that have died. DD has asthma. Has been hospitalised in the past.

I don't get this thing where he can kill paedophiles. I mean what are you even on about?

I'm sorry your job is looking iffy and you're on furlough.

I don't think that children are to blame. However bratty they are.

You seem very angry but I think you're directing it at the wrong people tbh.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:58

I mean that he's in a role that has seen a high death rate, he's been working all through, and DD has risk factors so if he brought it home it might not be great.

Apologies if I was unclear and you thought he was 007 or something.
