I’m on CPAP. Everyone is doing their best to keep me alive but I feel traumatised. Family and friends are still asleep. Is anyone there to talk to me?

Morning @LittleSpyintheSky I’m glad you got some sleep and you’ve had some improvements. Willing you on and thinking of you. Keep running towards that finishing line!

sashh · 21/12/2020 07:08

OP

I'll be sending positive thoughts when I light my solstice candles later today.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/12/2020 07:43

Morning little spy. Another one here thinking of you and sending you thoughts, prayers and virtual oxygen.
I'm a similar age to you and the best gig I went to was Take That at Wembley ( circus tour) . I was gibbering like a teenager! My first gig was Lindisfarne ( still love them) and next year I'm booked to see Pete Tong at a local outdoor ( in a field) venue. Hoping it happens.
And I'm hoping you get to do a similar thing too.

Zobozal · 21/12/2020 09:02

Good morning! Thinking of you op and sending a big hug. So many people here willing you to get better.
My fave concert was Bruce Springsteen at Wembley.
There’s a great play on BBC Sounds called Where This Service Will.... it’s about 2 people who meet on a train and it’s light, warm and funny. Can highly recommend Flowers

Plussizejumpsuit · 21/12/2020 09:07

I've been thinking of you op. I'd be beside myself. How poorly are you feeling? I feel like the whole worry about covid and the machine is one thing. Then the awful feeling of being on it. Then the actual covid symptoms so a lot to contend with.

If you have capacity could you play games on your phone. I have anxiety and they help me so much. Suduko and 2 dots are faves right now. Sending love xx

Plussizejumpsuit · 21/12/2020 09:13

Ooh talking about gigs so you hopefully have something to take your mind off things... I regularly get the urge to watch Queen's Live aid performance. I honestly think it's one of the best performances ever. Have you seen bohemian rhapsody the film? I think they really capture that gig so well.

I ws sbotn in 1985 2 days before live aid and my mum has told me she wash up watching it on TV while trying to learn how to feed me and settle me etc as I'm her first. So it sort of feels special too as she remembered watching. It's also an amazing performance.

Im not big on being around lots of people but will go to a gig occasionally normally it's someone great as it has to be to get me there! I saw Dizzy Rascal last year I think he was amazing. One of my best gigs was public enemy a few years ago. Chuck D was over 50 and so buff and physically fit! He performed so well.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/12/2020 13:57

Littlespy I hope you're asleep!

LittleSpyintheSky · 21/12/2020 18:33

Good evening mumsnetters. Sorry I have been so quiet. Lots of good things happening with me.

Lots of sleep 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Had physio and have been trying to move my arms about much more.

Wanted to tell you how covid causes the damage. Consultant said this to me and I’ll tell it that way - but he said same to everyone.

The body reacts the covid by flooding the lungs, to protect them . So my lungs are wet and need to be dried out. That is down to the drugs.

Meanwhile, I need to stay using my lungs properly. CPAP forces them to work, whether I do anything or not. Apparently the top f my lungs are working very well, but the bottom bits need to join in.

Off CPAP, it’s down to me to use them, and I have been doing that. The more that works, the faster I’m off CPAP altogether. I’m not on it now and my 02 is 97 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

That's such good news! We breathe so instinctively, so it can be a bit of a shock when you actually have to think about it. It's ok to get tired, too. One step at a time.

AstridAv · 21/12/2020 20:09

Ah I am so pleased to read your update OP. Well done you🌷

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 21/12/2020 20:46

Wishing you a speedy recovery op!

LittleSpyintheSky · 21/12/2020 21:12

Thank you for all your messages. When I’m on my feet more, I’ll go back through the thread and pick up on some of your suggestions for books, series podcasts etc.

There is something else I want to tell you about my stay. Wherever I’ve been in the hospital, I’ve been very cleaver to someone with debenture. They always make do much noise and do many repeated phrases over and over again. I have another one next to me now. It makes Hell much much worse. They only know one volume setting - bloody loud. I never realised recoveryceoulf mean trying to handle so much of othervoropke’s issues. God it’s hard.

Actually some of it is hilarious and I be dining out on some of the stories for years. New lady keeps asking them to wake her up and ring 999.

OP posts:
LittleSpyintheSky · 21/12/2020 21:15

Obviously near to someone with dementia , not debenture 😂

OP, you are one hell of a strong lady!
An inspiration to us all.
Reading your update has brightened a very dull day.
Well done you!
