What is the dosage that would be approved for Oxford?

Is it the 1 1/2?

NeurotreeWenceslas · 27/12/2020 09:36

Ok thanks fireflies. I'm yet to have a proper chat with her so I'm sure she can tell me more. She's helped set up coordinate the vaccine in her area.

Firefliess · 27/12/2020 09:37

@wakeup - I don't know, but the rumours seem to be that we should be finding out today or tomorrow on approval for the Oxford vaccine

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:41

@Firefliess it was from this thread. Re the person who asked re Oxford they can’t use the half dose as they’d need to do a new trial as the data doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. I’m personally v jittery about Oxford. It’s messy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/12/2020 09:42

I'd be interested in a link too Oaktree.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 09:45

The announcement will have detail on doses. If MRHA approve it it’s good enough, no point in thinking they don’t have top standards.

I don’t think I’ve seen the 3% thing on here, a link would be good

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:46

You need to click on Nikita’s post I linked takes you to table. I’ve not researched back but she’s a pretty credible account I think. I’m worried Oxford isn’t the best for duration etc. Also it’s unlikely to be possible to use in a year if required due to immunity to adenovirus. So what are we left with them. Boosting population with a different vaccine. Has this been trialled? No. See where I’m going with concerns?

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:49

@MarshaBradyo is it good enough though? It’s definitely inferior to others approved in efficacy. Look up Transverse Myelitis and the adverse events which have been swept over. We’re looking at using an inferior vaccine with more adverse effects which have been swept under carpet. There are a lot of experts concerned about this not my opinion I’ve magically come up with.

oneglassandpuzzled · 27/12/2020 09:49

Nikita seems to be linked to an investment fund investing in biotech companies?

oneglassandpuzzled · 27/12/2020 09:50

So is she/they an impartial source?

Wakeupin2022 · 27/12/2020 09:51

www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4777

This is why I asked about dosage.

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:52

@Wakeupin2022 yes totally agree but do most people realise this? I don’t think they do I think they think it’s all over once vaccinated. Just my impression.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 09:54

The MRHA is good enough for me yes. If they approve it then it’s great.

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:54

@oneglassandpuzzled lots of experts are commenting who have links. There’s lots saying same thing who aren’t connected eg

mobile.twitter.com/hildabast

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 09:55

Also efficacy has been raised? We don’t have concrete details yet but going by news this morning.

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 09:55

@MarshaBradyo oh dear well ignorance is bliss. What they approve under pressure in a crisis might be good for overall numbers but not best for the individual taking the vaccine.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 09:57

Oh god that positivity again haven’t missed it Grin

We’re in a huge hole and this is a way out.

Anyway I’m not up for that kind of talk and have moved on so will leave you to it. Have a nice day.

Wakeupin2022 · 27/12/2020 09:57

Oak what is the reduction in the asymptomatic transmission for Pfizer vaccine.

All I know is we need to get a mass vaccination done ASAP.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 09:59

If people don’t want Oxford to go ahead then they prefer this mess. Crazy

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 10:00

It amazes me how some people just want a magic bullet and refuse to consider the detail. Bizarre. Nobody can burst the illusion. Same people who were on here in the summer saying local restrictions would work etc etc. Some are delusional or can’t cope with reality. I’d rather be informed.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 10:01

Yes we all know Oak

Opt out then. Do lockdown forever.

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 10:02

@MarshaBradyo the whole point is you are refusing to consider the detail. Oxford isn’t a magic bullet. It’s not going to magically end this situation. Surely recent variants have shown people that?!! We have no data on the duration of any vaccines as yet for one forgetting any other details.

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 10:04

@MarshaBradyo nobody wants lockdowns but we as yet don’t have enough detail on any of the vaccines or duration of natural immunity to even attempt to guess how this will play out. I’d wager a guess it’ll be a combination of vaccines and other approaches.

MarshaBradyo · 27/12/2020 10:04

Oak of course it’s not an end. But right now we need a way out of this terrible situation and this is it. If MRHA approve it then it’s good to go.

It then buys us time to keep improving

Oaktree55 · 27/12/2020 10:05

@Wakeupin2022 I don’t think it was measured as the Oxford Trial was the only one to regularly test. I’m sure they’re testing now though.
