Anyone had a positive test without a temperature and cough?

I’m worried I might have some of the symptoms but I definitely do not have a temperature and not really much of a cough if at all

I’d normally assume a cold but this close to Christmas and meant to be meeting family finally I’m a little nervous to say the least

But I don’t have the symptoms listed to get a test

Same here in reverse

DH and kids fine so far but I am dreading if he gets ill before I feel better. Kids are not tiny but can't be relied on to look after themselves entirely.

Plus pressure of having to still organise Christmas from my sick bed.

Well thank fuck people are testing despite not having one of the ‘three main symptoms’ @Dowhatyoudowell

Would you rather the 6 people mentioned before you posted, all of whom didn’t have the ‘three main symptoms’ and the countless people after didn’t test then? That therefore weren’t aware they had it and went spreading it about!? What is your solution to that?

At least if you have a loss or change of taste or smell you probably think ‘it’s Corona’ and stay in...if you have one of the multiple other symptoms but dismiss them rather than get tested then the numbers will go through the roof...(sort of exactly like what is happening right now because of the absolute shitshow BoJo and his clowns have made of this year..)

Positive result here.
Symptoms were more like allergy reaction
Diarrhoea and over emotional.
She was hot but no temperature according to thermometer.
No cough so far.

Tested because she felt rough and 5 other cases in her class

I've had a migraine and a tight chest. I've coughed about 5 times in 3 days but I'm going to get tested

@Chaotic45 Do they have the doors open to improve ventilation? Do the doors go to outside, or a shopping mall?

The virus spreads like cigarette smoke, so no amount of masks and distancing will do much without good ventilation as well - otherwise those infected breathe the virus out and it eventually fills the air. Decent aircon is better than the kind that just recirculates old air, but realistically it can't possibly replace all the air in the shop - you need a breeze. It also matters where it's placed - if, say, it's behind the till, and the person infected is also behind the till, it's just blowing their virus particles out towards everyone else.

I wonder how many people who shopped there caught it too!

Chaotic45 · 18/12/2020 09:44

@whatswithtodaytoday no windows or doors are open. I don't want to be too outing but it's a shop which is at significant risk of armed robbery and for safety and insurance it's not possible to have windows and doors open. Merchandise is behind bullet proof glass, major security etc etc.

I'm hindsight this is maybe the issue. Its a shame that those in charge couldn't mitigate this although TBF I'm not sure how they could get round this.

I wish some of this information was more common knowledge. I know we are encouraged to have good ventilation, but I don't think that the effects of poor or zero ventilation are really understood sufficiently.

Lots of shops don't lend themselves to good ventilation. Windows tend to be used for display rather than being openable for example.

It's really very worrying.

I tested positive with a tiny cough and scratchy throat. I didnt get temperature or loss of smell and taste until 5 days in. I never developed what I would describe as a continuous or persistent cough.

ButterflyBitch · 18/12/2020 09:58

My son who had a sore throat and a headache and my daughter who had no symptoms. My husband tested positive just before his cough started and neither of us had a temp at all. Just lie and get a test.
I firmly believe that more testing needs to be done on more symptoms.

wakemeupwhenitssunny · 18/12/2020 12:13

3 in my household tested positive without the 3 main covid symptoms 1 no symptoms, other 2 aches and headaches - one of them really suffering now on day 13. there's many symptoms it appears, the temp only came on day 10 for my OH.

Just found this thread and it’s convinced me to get a test

In tier 2 but my actual very local area has a rate of over 500 p 100,000. We’re SE .

DD is secondary and last weekend had a bad headache and snotty .

I had slight (I mean slight ) cough at same time/
I’ve been nowhere since last Friday
Today have a very sinus type headache which is helped with paracetamol. That’s my main thing. Doing load sneezes and slightly scratchy throat

Think it must be a cold but reading all above think it’s worth a test. I don’t trust boris to give good advice so making my own mind up about this !

MistletoeandGin · 18/12/2020 22:17

That’s crazy. Tier 3 here and my local area has a rate of 82 per 100,000.

tootyfruitypickle · 18/12/2020 22:20

Well it will spread out of my locality into surrounding towns soon enough and we’re surrounded by tier 3 so I think we’ll be tier 3 soon enough!

Bogardicia · 18/12/2020 22:32

@Onedropbeat did you get a test?

11MrsLuther · 18/12/2020 23:08

Yes my 20 year old son. Main symptom was a really sore throat and a few days if feeling virussy and rough. But mainly the throat.

Billi77 · 18/12/2020 23:10

Yes. I had a very light cold. Itchy eyes and tickle throat for 2-3 days. Got a test via work and did not expect a positive result. My partner tested positive too with cold symptoms. And it was our second corona infection. We’d both probably had it in March, confirmed by 2 positive antibody tests as swab testing wasn’t available. That time I had a flu and no cough, DP had bad cough for weeks and no smell or taste.

Heartofglass12345 · 18/12/2020 23:23

I think the cold symptoms are a coincidence, it is cold season after all. My friends mum has a test weekly for work in a care home and she tested positive

tootyfruitypickle · 19/12/2020 07:07

@Heartofglass12345 that’s an interesting idea. So these could all actually be asymptomatic cases that happen to also have a cold .

tootyfruitypickle · 19/12/2020 07:11

Just read the govt panicking about new strain. As in how infectious it is. Definitely getting a test. I feel so ropey I can hardly be bothered but might give it a go for tomorrow because I’m due to see family next week.
