I can see why it might be popular, but won’t it just kill a lot of the people we love the most?

I am really struggling, we made decision not to visit my elderly parent, 80’s, we are 300 miles away.

Some days I am fine with it, others I am so upset. Have only seen once in summer when rules were relaxed and we kept our distance.
Made even worse as this year as 1 child studying abroad and can not come home, we’ve never been apart for Christmas before.

So I feel we are making all these sacrifices to mitigate risk and keep people safe but we will all still face tougher rules again in new year. I feel guilty for us not visiting esp when others are doing what they want.

Christmas is normally a very expensive time, but one thing is clear as scientists are pointing out, we are all going to pay a high price for this Christmas.

Of course there are exceptions and nobody should be on their own but some of the hysteria over the possibility of not having your normal multi person, multi family festive Christmas is just bonkers.

As has been pointed out it’s just going to make the roll out of the vaccination programme more difficult with an increase in cases and deaths. I could understand it more if no vaccine was in sight, but it is and there is hope for next year without this super spreader Christmas.

@RedToothBrush

Wouldn't it be nice if they changed their minds in order to prevent thousands of British people dying. Rather than a desire to do what's popular., Hmm

It's been about 3000 a week (under the 28 day cut off) for ages now. And thanks to Boris's Five Days Of Christmas January will be worse.

It would be nice if this government did a lot of things...

Yes and I have been against all CV19 legislation since March although I follow it.
