I can still order the Kallø stock cubes, only the chicken version is unavailable.

Looks like losing weight will be unusually easy come the great, sovereign new year ... Will be really easy to give up consuming things one can't get for love or money.

Just looked at the reserved orders that have been generated for the 2nd and the 9th - there seems to be an awful lot of tinned and ambient products, the only fresh products seem to be the "always" ones like milk, bread etc

Anyone else found this? Wondering if its deliberate in anticipation of shortages (as I've also noticed there are a lot of offers on tinned goods at the moment) or if its just some weird coincidence that I've only noticed because I'm anxious about shortages.

Flagsfiend · 13/12/2020 11:37

When I ordered this week's shop it told me that the cut off for changes was earlier than normal, implied it was Christmas related. Although I haven't had a delivery for a few weeks as I couldn't get a slot during lockdown 2 and then Morrisons gave me a discount if I shopped in store so I did. Only booked this week as thought I'd be busy at school the week before Christmas so didn't want to need to go to the supermarket too, turns out to have been a very good move as I've now got covid so couldn't go to the supermarket anyway.

Also someone asked about delivery cost, I always go for the late night free slots and up until now they have always come early, sometimes by 3 hours...

bluebell34567 · 13/12/2020 11:50

Flagsfiend i hope you get well soon.Sad

impostersyndrome · 13/12/2020 11:54

Well, I’ve cancelled my pass, and this week’s shop in case they were going to charge me for the delivery. With no slots available for the rest of the month I’d rather give my money to Waitrose, who give free delivery over 40 spend. Prices are really no different (I get my fruit and veg locally).

Madcats · 13/12/2020 12:00

Pork stock cubes? I've never encountered those (and googling I encountered an MSE forum message from June saying that they are being discontinued). I guess I will never get to try them.

Flagsfiend I've not seen the free late night slots since about May (I think my Ocado orders come from Avonmouth).

I've just been tidying up my Waitrose Xmas order. I don't have any "Entertaining" stuff on it because the only entertaining our family are doing this year will be keeping the cats amused enough to leave the tree alone. I can edit my 23rd slot up until noon on the 22nd.

Chaotic45 · 13/12/2020 12:04

After wrestling with Ocado and getting fed op of so much being out of stock I placed a clock and collect order with Waitrose for today.

17 items, mostly Christmas and party type food. 7 items were out of stock. 9 substituted. So one item that I ordered was in the shop.

I handed the whole lot back.

Back to the drawing board!!

Madcats · 13/12/2020 12:11

Chaotic, that sounds horrendous (albeit a 1st world problem). I wonder if they tried to "pick" the order before the shelves were stacked?

I suppose nobody is going to office/friends' parties this year so are treating themselves at home?

StanfordPines · 13/12/2020 12:25

I don’t like the sound of that click and collect order with so much missing.
I’ve got a Dec 24th c&c from Waitrose. I hope it fairs better. I wouldn’t have normally gone for a date that is cutting it so fine but they popped up a couple of days ago. They’d better not sub too much stuff as most of the stuff is vegan and that makes it much harder to sub.

Chaotic45 · 13/12/2020 12:31

@Madcats the person who I spoke to at the click and collect point said they pick most of the items from the store itself and that those items had sold out.

He said they get deliveries periodically and that they hadn't had one of party food for a while so things were out of stock.

It is quite a small Waitrose and I'm not sure if that is relevant.

I'm not clear how their stock control works but it is worrying and I'm not sure I would want to rely on themTBH.

Absolutely a third world problem but frustrating none the less.

I got the Pork stock cubes in Waitrose - maybe I should have bought more boxes. Still available via Knorr online, Tesco and Morrisons as well, so not sure whats going on with them
MotherofPiggies · 13/12/2020 12:42

I defected from Ocado in the Summer. I now have a Morrison’s midweek pass for £3.00 which I use for deliveries to both my own home and my dad’s address. I book the odd Waitrose delivery (which has always been great) and every few weeks I book an Ocado delivery. I’ve found a 10.30pm slot which is free.

I don’t think Ocado stocks half the products I used to regularly order from them, and even the niche products are dwindling fast.

bluebell34567 · 13/12/2020 12:45

Chaotic45 isnt there another larger waitrose around you?

Chaotic45 · 13/12/2020 13:25

@MotherofPiggies it's a 45 minute drive so not worth it for me.

Chaotic45 · 13/12/2020 13:37

@ElectricEels I had the same queue, followed by only being shown 3 days worth of calendar? Frustrating.

Furball · 13/12/2020 13:40

@PoulePouletteEternellement

That's the Boris-bounce, BadKitten.

Like I said on the previous thread - Waitrose supplied Ocado with all their shop, not just own brand like M & S, so to lose Waitrose Ocado have lost a lot of standard shopping brands along with that too.

But I thought they specifically said they would still stock lots of other brands?

It is really unsatisfactory all round.

I thought Ocado said that M&S would be able to supply a replacement for every Waitrose product it was losing. - which sounded re-assuring at the time but didn't take in to account the non Waitrose stuff that Waitrose also must have supplied.

Also the replacements M&S actually provides are not up to the same standard as Waitrose in the things I used to buy.

StanfordPines · 13/12/2020 17:04

Are you sure that Waitrose used to supply everything? There are a lot of lines I can get on Ocado that Waitrose don’t stock.

Birthdayhat · 13/12/2020 17:08

Just realised the cut off for editing changed to 2pm today when it was 11:30pm last week ffs. Luckily had done most of it...

BuntysTwinkle · 13/12/2020 18:34

I suppose the looming Brexit means things are getting chaotic again, especially with sites like the DM screaming about empty shelves before they have even happened. I can't fault the supermarkets for focusing on things like tins and loo roll.

And in fairness Ocado got my family through this year well, the worst we had to endure was a 7 day wait between shops instead of the usual 5-6.

Quarantino · 14/12/2020 00:09

@StanfordPines

Waitrose didn't supply everything, Waitrose products were just a big proportion of Ocado's offering (as well as Ocado brand and lots of other brands). But, other brands that Waitrose sell are no longer (necessarily) being sold on Ocado - e.g. Korres toiletries, which I can get in my Waitrose store and used to get on Ocado, but can't now.

I feel like I've been fairly forgiving with the 'new' Ocado - and tbf the appalling amounts of subs have improved recently - but there is sod-all in stock at the moment, all the time. None of the fruit teabags I wanted, no marzipan, no croissant Jus-Roll, loads of basic stuff just not there and I haven't even really bothered with Christmas stuff as it was all out of stock and never came back in.
