Bad news for anyone who was hoping to get away next year :(

Good stuff Zilla.
There’s probably a job for you at the BBC.

giantangryrooster · 10/12/2020 17:16

The only reason we are smuggling Yorkshire puddings in to the uk is to make you eat our surveillance equipment didn't you know? (No need to be paranoid about the vaccine we've already got this sorted).

So please have your pud and eat it Wink.

(Pannetone is not on my wish list ever).

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 17:17

@borntobequiet, that hot bed of Captain Hindsight moaning minnie-ing? When was the last thing you heard from the BBC that stood up to scrutiny?

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 17:18

seem, I asked 'When was the last thing you heard from the BBC that stood up to scrutiny?' and no one could reply. No one.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 17:20

@giantangryrooster, regarding the vaccine, the sovereign UK is happy to share the credit with Pfizer and Belgium though don't forget which country was first to approve it. First. Surely everyone would agree that's more impressive than just developing and testing the vaccine in the first place. sunny uplands.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 17:24

And I've seen Canada are following the UK's lead in approving the vaccine. Soon many nations will follow the UK's lead and approve it. The UK, a leader in the field of vaccine (approval).

All I hear on the Beeb is N Farage and people not holding Brexiters to account! And fish. Or not fish. Whichever.

giantangryrooster · 10/12/2020 17:25

Surely everyone would agree that's more impressive than just developing and testing the vaccine in the first place.

Well I for one am in awe of you (and jealous, but also greatful to you for trying it out for us).

pinkbalconyrailing · 10/12/2020 17:28

fish? what's the bloody deal with fish.
fish fingers are nice but kippers full of bones

dontcallmelen · 10/12/2020 18:07
@Zilla1 Grin I salute you! Grin
This, absolutely splendid work by Zilla1 I salute you⭐️⭐️

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 18:20

@pinkbalconyrailing, possibly the first (of many) tangible demonstration of our fabulous sovereignty. Something concrete for everyone to stand arm in arm around. That and blue/black passports. Control of our borders might be really, really important but perhaps less tangible than fish and trawlers and fish and fisherman (fisher people?, bah humbug PC leftie nonsense) and fish. Good optics for the TV. If Captain Hindsights want to pick fault with queues of lorries and tariffs on food, we can all look at happy trawler men, that is unless they struggle to sell the fish?

And no one pick fault with that poor Cabinet Minister put on the spot on the radio this morning. It was unfair to ask by how much he expected food prices to rise after the Tesco Chief Executive estimated 5%. He understandably said he didn't recognise that figure. He might have missed school when the number 5 was taught.

cansomebodyputthetreeupplease · 10/12/2020 18:24

@GroundAlmonds @lurker101
I clicked on the europa link - I may be being stupid, but does an EU passport count as a residence card? My DH holds a passport for another EU country but has never lived there.

MayDayHelp · 10/12/2020 18:26

@Zilla1 no need to apologise. There’s nothing worse than a shy brexiteer who can’t think of a single good reason as to why we’re leaving the EU so it’s refreshing for you to come along with dozens of them. All jolly good reasons too, it must be said, it would be hard for anyone to argue with them.

@borntobequiet, I must admit I've not heard Farage for quite a while, since he announced he was starting a new/another political party. Perhaps he's been busy working out all the policies to ensure they're consistent and logical. He'd presumably want to avoid those unfair accusations in the past that he never bothered reading his parties' manifesto again.

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2020 18:48

Nige is busy with Texit

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 10/12/2020 19:04

Hasn't Lawrence Fox cornered the market for mad new political parties? Perhaps Farage had to go abroad to find a new market.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 19:08

@cansomebodyputthetreeupplease,

I saw from the europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/residence/residence-rights/index_en.htm#eu-citizen

"As an EU citizen, you have the right to move to any EU country to live, work, study, look for a job or retire.

You can stay in another EU country for up to 3 months without registering there but you may need to report your presence. The only requirement is to hold a valid national identity card or passport. If you want to stay longer than 3 months, you may need to register your residence.

In many EU countries, you need to carry an identity card or passport with you at all times. In these countries, you could be fined or temporarily detained if you leave your identity documents at home - but you cannot be forced to return to your home country for this reason alone.

Check if you have to carry an ID or passport at all times in your host country:"

so if your DP has a EU passport from being a citizen of that country (unless there is some means by which they can have a passport and not be a citizen - IDK)

ArrowsOfMistletoe · 10/12/2020 19:10

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

He'd better not be unpatriotically swanning around any virtual (and foreign) Christmas markets in the dastardly EU! (Farage, not Fox)
Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 19:10

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay, there's no place for populist politics in our inclusive Brexit Britain.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 19:16

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay, unless Laurence Fox has been unfairly traduced and isn't spouting populist nonsense?

Miljea · 10/12/2020 19:48

We need to get past this idea that The Med is so hopelessly wedded to the British holiday-maker.

Several destinations are using the Covid opportunity to press the reset button on British louts pissing and vomiting in their Old Towns after a skinful.

10 years of holidaying in Spain originally revealed British ahoy; but most recently, Northern European ahoy. We are not as critical to their evolving holiday industry as our exceptionalism would have you believe.

ilikebooksandplants · 10/12/2020 19:54

@Welcometonowhere

If this is being done out of spite, then quite honestly how petty and ridiculous. I voted to remain and would still prefer to remain, but I am surprised people have concluded we are the ones at fault here.

Either it’s because of safety, in which case fair enough, or spite, which isn’t.

It’s not spite. It’s sensible. Why would the EU, which exists to protect its members, give a shit about those who want to leave?

It was absolutely insane to think they were going to give us a good deal, and anyone who thought they would is an utter fucking clown.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 20:01

I've heard Blackpool will be using the Covid opportunity to press the reset button on Parisienne louts trashing Blackpool's Old Town after a skinful. They're hoping that will get replaced with patriotic, sophisticated Brits sipping cocktails outside in a revival of the cafe (I need to remember to use some Anglo Saxon word to replace cafe) culture.

Welcometonowhere · 10/12/2020 20:19

So they are doing it because they can, ilikebooks? Yes?

@zilla1 you are the best
