Will you take the vaccine and why?
Just curious to different opinions on this really!

Yes of offered although I'm 34 so I doubt it will be anytime soon.

I find it odd that so many are refusing particularly vulnerable people. Very strange to me, when you look at what people put in their mouths, smoke drink etc on a regular basis and don't give a shit but now all of a sudden they're so concerned what they put in their body. It's just daft.

Dramacoats · 02/12/2020 08:43

Yes but I imagine it will be a while before I’m offered it as I’m not old nor vulnerable. My parents are very excited, they’ve been basically housebound since March.

Doddlebug2000 · 02/12/2020 08:43

Is it scared of the new and unknown maybe?

Florelei · 02/12/2020 08:44

Absolutely. I need to get life back to normal without worrying about infecting my elderly mother.

I have faith in scientists who ah e worked so hard and am so grateful to the volunteers who put themselves forward for the trials.

lurker101 · 02/12/2020 08:44

Yes, when it eventually gets down to me, as I’m very low priority. I trust our systems for developing and approving vaccines and medicines.

cathyandclare · 02/12/2020 08:45

Yes. I think it's the only way out if this.

I'm balancing the potential risk of the vaccine against the risk of covid and the risks of continuing lockdown. I'm healthy and early 50s so not really worried about Covid, but I want a way out of this pandemic, so I'll take a vaccine approved by the MHRA.

middleager · 02/12/2020 08:46

Absolutely. My child caught Covid at school so I take this seriously.
I'm late 40s, BMI 30, so although I'm in category 11 I think (the last) I'm still at an age where serious health issues begin, so be pleased to get this as I've been reading that women of my age and weight seem to be susceptible to long Covid.

Mrgrinch · 02/12/2020 08:46

I won't, but I haven't had any vaccinations at all. I'm confused as to why someone who has had all their vaccines would single out this one in particular as not being safe though.

nancy75 · 02/12/2020 08:46

Yes, I want life to go back to normal as quickly as possible.
I might not think much of our govt but I trust the scientists

Hugosmugo · 02/12/2020 08:47

Yes, can't wait to get back to normal. I'm late 20s though so won't be for a while. But if I was offered it right now I would take it..

Thank you scientists.

I really hope the anti vaxxers don't heavily weigh down the percentage needed. It is annoying how they are happy for other people to take it and take an 'I'm alright jack ' approach. We need to get this under control.

VettiyaIruken · 02/12/2020 08:49

Absolutely. I'm on the clinically extremely vulnerable list so I think I'll get it maybe early next year?

I want my family to not have to be scared to go out in case they bring it back home! It's really hard on them. At least if I'm immunised they'll feel it's a little safer and they can have some normality.

unchienandalusia · 02/12/2020 08:49

Hell yes. Although I'm way down on the list. My older relatives will be high prIority including DM and her DP. This is the best news and the beginning of the road back to normal.

Reallybadidea · 02/12/2020 08:51

Yes I will. I work with some of the sickest covid patients in the country and have seen the effects on them and their families. I also work with vulnerable, non-covid patients. Whilst my personal risk from covid is low, I feel that I have a responsibility to protect others by protecting myself.

I've some knowledge of medical regulations in the UK and feel that the process for authorisation is robust enough that the vaccine is as safe any new vaccine coming onto the market.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/12/2020 08:52

Yes but as a healthy 30 year old I will be bottom of the list. I can't see it being available to me for at least 6 months.

junglepie · 02/12/2020 09:01

absolutely. Im frontline NHS so likely to be high up priority. Mostly so glad my dad will get it fairly soon, he is 87 with a lung coniditon.

DrDreReturns · 02/12/2020 09:04

Yes. I put my faith in science.

LagneyandCasey · 02/12/2020 09:05

Yes very happy to get it. I'm not high risk but anything to stop the spread and help get life back to normal. I have adults dc who are treading water right now and I want them to have job security and a LIFE!

FourTeaFallOut · 02/12/2020 09:06

Yes.

So that my kids can have an uninterrupted education. So that we can run our business without navigating around restrictions. So that my child can see, actually see, their pediatrician. So my friend's dad can get cancer treatment in good time. So I can hug my family. So I can travel to NZ and see our family there. Because I'd rather take my leap of faith with the scientists who produced this vaccine than with the virus itself. Because I know what it's like to like with scarring on the lungs and I'd rather not endure any more.

Aragog · 02/12/2020 09:07

Of course. I'll get it as soon as I am offered it.

I'm 47 but clinically vulnerable so I do hope I'm on the list somewhere. I also teach so in close contact with a lot of people daily.

I caught Covid at school and was really quite poorly, having only just returned after being absent Dd or 7 weeks.

No one can say if I have immunity or not and I really would rather not catch it again.

Everyone I know in real life wants the vaccine, either for themselves or to protect their loved ones.

Only couple I know of who don't are distant family I 'see' in my Facebook. But they are also of the don't follow the rules, don't fancy wearing masks, had their mates round when one had Covid despite her being a care assistant, posts dodgy links to conspiracy type webpages, etc. so tbh it doesn't surprise me. They'll be the first to whinge if it having a vaccine means they can't do something though. One is really highly vulnerable too which makes it even more daft IMO.

QueenPaws · 02/12/2020 09:08

CEV and yes. If I can have it (will speak to my consultant at my January appointment)

Oodlesofnoodles20 · 02/12/2020 09:09

Yes, I’m waaayyy down the line though.

Treaclepie19 · 02/12/2020 09:11

Yep! Won't be offered it for ages though.
I'm 30 and my risk factors are very mild asthma and bmi of 31 (losing weight but its slow with a newborn).

Queenofthemadouse · 02/12/2020 09:12

No. Not just yet. I'm way down the list too however there hasn't been enough research on the longer term effects for me. Hopefully there aren't any. Or very minor if there are. I'm not anti vax at all. But I do believe in looking at the full picture. If I were 80 then I would have it. The likelihood of a serious long term effect would be minimal at that age. But I'm mid 30s.

AFlatTyre · 02/12/2020 09:13

Yes, HCP. Hopefully next week. I have every faith in the system.

GameSetMatch · 02/12/2020 09:14

Yes, I’ll take the vaccine ASAP! As soon as they call me I’ll be first in the queue. I want a normal life, this is the only solution towards normal.
