Will you take the vaccine and why?
Just curious to different opinions on this really!

I will take it as soon as I am offered it.

I am worried I won't be able to travel abroad widely without it and cannot bloody wait to recommence my trips!!

FedUpOfAllThis · 02/12/2020 18:56

I’ve not decided yet but I’m leaning towards no.

herecomesthsun · 02/12/2020 18:57

yes. Because I don't want covid. both very much so.

formerbabe · 02/12/2020 18:59

No I wouldn't take it but I doubt it would be offered to me

Trut · 02/12/2020 19:01

Leaning towards no. I don’t take the flu vaccine either

mamaduckbone · 02/12/2020 21:18

Yes, but I won't get it any time soon. I hoped teachers and school staff would be somewhere on the priority list but it seems not.Hmm

MikeFromSpaced · 02/12/2020 21:54

Yes. I am 47 with mild asthma. I trust science and medicine.

MadameBlobby · 03/12/2020 00:10

Yes. I will have it as soon as I am offered. I see it as my duty to do so as I also had to comply with other measures and I’d rather have the vaccine than continued restrictions. I have complained like fuck about lockdown and restrictions so I would be a hypocrite of the highest order if I didn’t do what needs to be done to get us back to normal.

Unsure33 · 03/12/2020 00:16

Yes I will . I want life to at least try and get back to some sort of normality and fir businesses to open and people who have lost their jobs regain employment.

Vivana · 03/12/2020 00:19

Yes I will be one of the first due to my job and I trust the vaccine

sleepwouldbenice · 03/12/2020 00:21

Those who fall into the relevant categories regarding age or health will do

I am very supportive of extra measures in school but
I really am incredulous every time this comes up.

hopsalong · 03/12/2020 00:38

Yes, in principle. But I do want to see some information on the effect of the vaccine on people who already have antibodies. I don't think any of the trial participants were in that situation?

I had a positive antibody test in the early summer and another two weeks ago. I didn't get the TB vaccine at school after having a positive Heaf test. Was that just because of expense? Willing to believe it makes sense to vaccinate people who already have antibodies, but want to see data on it first. There should be plenty of time for that before I'm offered it though...

frayday · 03/12/2020 00:44

No! I may eventually but right now don't trust anything they say. I know so many old people who have tested positive and not left their house in months because they're scared. They have had it either way all it's done is mentally destroyed them for months. The scientists said masks were a bad idea initially and they changed their mind so how can I believe this is the right thing to do. ( it might be but I'm just struggling to trust they have it right yet)

canigooutyet · 03/12/2020 00:53

Do people saying yes because they don't want CV realise there is still a possibility of catching it either with no symptoms or mild ones?

I'm possibly exempt, waiting for the full contra to be released.

iVampire · 03/12/2020 07:08

Yes

I’m shielding, not thick

And full contents of the Pfizer jab are in the public domain as the pack info insert is now available online

JazzRiff · 03/12/2020 07:10

Yes.

I don’t want to catch it.
I don’t want to pass it on
It is the only way to get a hold on this pandemic. We cannot go on with this stop - start lockdown situation, or sit back and watch 10000s die on continents with less medical infrastructure.
New vaccines are brought out all the time: every year’s flu vaccine is new and hasn’t been tested for ‘long term effects’
Why should this vaccine be any more scary? The Oxford one doesn’t use any ingredients not already in use in medicine. (Simply don’t know about the others).
I used lockdown to start a healthy eating pattern to get my BMI into the healthy range as soon as it was clear that weight was a risk factor. Being pro active in protecting myself is better for my MH than fearfully locking myself up and refusing contact with loved ones. The vaccine is the next step.

Bring it on!

Do people saying yes because they don't want CV realise there is still a possibility of catching it either with no symptoms or mild ones?

Yes, but it significantly reduces the chance of me being very ill with it.
Having been through it once and still struggling to recover I will take anything that means I wouldn't have to go through it to that extent again.

RogueV · 03/12/2020 19:53

Yes

kikisparks · 04/12/2020 07:57

I would have said yes, but I’m going through fertility treatment so it’s not considered safe in my situation, I will only get it either a) if it’s been proven not to harm a foetus or b) if I’ve successfully had a baby and finished breastfeeding or c) if I’ve exhausted all fertility treatment options and been unsuccessful. I’m at the bottom of the list anyway but likely looking at years before any of those scenarios are in place. After 4 years TTC and 2 miscarriages I absolutely cannot put things on hold for months, my mental health would not take it. I’m willing to mostly isolate if that’s what it takes to keep everyone else safe.

ferretface · 04/12/2020 08:04

I'll get the vaccine as soon as I'm able, I think a lot of events and travel etc will require proof of vaccination. I'm not worried about catching covid, although obviously wouldn't want to spread it, it's more the opportunities it might unlock.
