Can you eat at a restaurant in another tier?

I can’t find an answer to this online. If for example, you live in a tier 3 area, could you eat out in a tier 2 area.
I know travel from tier to tier unless travelling through, is strongly discouraged, but from what I’ve read, not banned entirely. So, is eating out in another tier discouraged or banned?

What is the reason for the tier system? What is the reason Covid disappears for a few days over Christmas?

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:50

Just as many, maybe more have said they will the follow the guidelines. A thread on MN is ‘proof’? You would be an even worse lawyer

Sirflounce I actually don't know how to respond to that. WTF.

Oliversmumsarmy · 28/11/2020 15:50

What a bunch of selfish fuckers. Do you not understand why these systems exist? It will just be never ending. Just keep out of London, will you

What if you work in retail in London but live in Kent

You can go to a shop in London but can’t shop at a local store.

You can travel to Tenerife for a meal but can’t in your local restaurant

You can stand side by side with 5 colleagues all day but can’t go in a pub with them after work

News last night was in Bexley where one half of a street is in tier 2 and the houses across the street were in Tier 3

Let’s not forget atm worldwide the death rate is standing at around 2%

Anyone think this is a huge over reaction.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:53

Actually I do...
Just as many, maybe more have said they will the follow the guidelines.
Who?

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:56

Olivers
Your examples explain why it is/will be such a mess.

The loosening of the restrictions over Christmas is because they knew people would break the rules anyway.

It makes sense to lift the restrictions for Christmas because it would be impossible to stop people breaking them at Christmas anyway.

The hope is that giving people a bit of leeway will encourage them to follow the rules the rest of the time.

Sorry to reply twice to the same post, but when you write these things why doesn’t ‘what’s the alternative’ go through your head?

The alternative is being in lockdown over Christmas.

Or having no restrictions at all to the point where it won’t be safe for families to get together at Christmas.

Surely better to have restrictions now so that when everyone inevitably gets together for Christmas it is as safer than it otherwise would be.

@LondonlovesLola

If you do your arrogant, stupid, and a disgrace to your profession. Good thing you can hide behind MN

Because I disagree with you? The tier system? Or because I have said that people will interpret the rules how they choose? Or because I have said that people will break the rules regardless?

I have said MANY times upthread that I will be following the rules for my area (tier 3) and will not be eating out or going out socially in tier 2 areas even though I work in one. So it can't be that.

What exactly makes me arrogant, stupid and a disgrace to my profession? Please tell me 'SirFlounce'!

You?
LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 16:05

You

Again, not sure how to reply to that. WTF.

SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 16:07

Quite a theme isn’t it? You’re not sure of anything.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 16:13

Quite a theme isn’t it? You’re not sure of anything.

WTF are you talking about? Read my posts. I've made it perfectly clear what I think. Are you always like this?
Actually don't answer. I don't want to know.

Jaxhog · 28/11/2020 16:15

NO!!
Anyone who does is poking a stick in the eye of the rules and putting others at risk. You follow the rules of the area you live in.

EffOrf · 28/11/2020 16:20

Blimey the drama on these threads about going for a meal, why would anyone ask the crackpots on here for advice

sleepwouldbenice · 28/11/2020 16:53

@LondonlovesLola

sleep We weren’t all in it together when it was just LCR in tier 3 were we?

The tiered system does not and will not work as I've said multiple times.
People travel around. Constantly.

The tiered system worked for Liverpool city region. It wasn't just the mass testing , that wasnt everywhere, and it wasnt just the lockdown as rates were falling everywhere

Exactly, the hysteria is still alive and kicking. The only advice I need is do I go for the garlic mushrooms or the Camembert 🤷‍♂️

Both!
Stick some sliced garlic in the camembert too before baking!
You'll smell lovely in the morning! :D

randomer · 28/11/2020 17:25

The tiers are about not having a bottle neck in hospitals. Places with good services have more leeway.Places which are not already populated by poor people in ill health have more leeway.

As I said the rates started to come down when they were in tier 3. They were in in tier 3 for 3 weeks before lockdown

This was then further helped by mass testing (But this was only given to a small part of the whole region) and lockdown and probably the publicity around the hospital crisis and most people knowing someone hospitalised or worse that time round .

Rates have now fallen to c a third of what they were

The tier 3 system definitely started this trend and therefore helped

userxx · 28/11/2020 18:14

@LondonlovesLola Now you're talking!!! Sounds Devine.

HotSauceCommittee · 28/11/2020 20:35

If one applies Cumming's Law, it's all perfectly fine. Johnson said so and set an example for the rest of us.

HeyBaby2020 · 28/11/2020 22:27

No get your tier 3 arse out my tier 2 area!!!

HeyBaby2020 · 28/11/2020 22:29

That was a joke by the way Gin

Lifeispassingby · 29/11/2020 08:03

@HotSauceCommittee the only problem with that was so many people outraged by it can’t exactly do it themselves without being major hypocrites!!

[quote Orangeblossom7777]People should 'take their tier with them'. Right. Can't see that happening.

Not even bristolians listen to Marvin's.
Was big mistake put north Somerset Bristol and South glos in tier 3 but bath north east Somerset and Wiltshire into tier 2.
So many cross for work and education.

They estimate tier 3 cost Bristol 2.8 million a month.
The 2 universities are high source of high infections.
I don't blame people wanting go bath to have a meal.
I wanted to go Xmas shopping in bath and Swindon this year.
But its quite a treck we would normally grab a bite to eat or coffee and cake.
Its so cold who wants a takeout coffee in the street.
My local supermarket's more rammed with people than pubsbor restaurants are.
I guess track and trace is sticking point as would have registered a bs postcode not ba.
Not sure how strict hospitality enforce where to you live before you can come in.
