Can you eat at a restaurant in another tier?

I can’t find an answer to this online. If for example, you live in a tier 3 area, could you eat out in a tier 2 area.
I know travel from tier to tier unless travelling through, is strongly discouraged, but from what I’ve read, not banned entirely. So, is eating out in another tier discouraged or banned?

Are hospitality venues still liable for a £10k fine (first offence) if they permit mixing that does not follow guidance?

If they are, then venues themselves will be requiring a reasonable level of proof (just like they and retailers already have to do for age restricted goods).

Ginogineli · 28/11/2020 13:59

Ceevee totally agree

Some people are literally looking for ways to lockdown

Like they’ve suddenly got a fear of going out

I’m guessing majority have spent last 6 months hole on full pay

Ginogineli · 28/11/2020 14:00

Rose

Restaurants aren’t obliged to ask for proof god this is getting ridiculous

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:03

sleep
We weren’t all in it together when it was just LCR in tier 3 were we?

The tiered system does not and will not work as I've said multiple times.
People travel around. Constantly.

RoseAndRose · 28/11/2020 14:06

There is a difference between being required and deciding to ensure they are not leaving themselves open to a £10k fine

This is getting beyond tedious

@TheEndisCummings

What a bunch of selfish fuckers. Do you not understand why these systems exist? It will just be never ending. Just keep out of London, will you?
Sure. The rate in the northern tier 3 area where I live is lower than most london boroughs so not sure I would want to take the risk.,

Don't worry we will. Cases there will begin to rise again no doubt with so few restrictions. London's economy will be just great though...

Same here! Not just in the North!

@ShangelaLaqueefaWadley

This is ridiculous, shaming people for going to a restaurant, it's like the whole thing back in March 'sobbing and shaking because somebody bought a chocolate bar "
Don’t be so sensitive, people are allowed to want to feel safe at work without people breaking the rules cos they can’t possibly wait to have a meal out
LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:11

Not to mention the great deals on hotels!!

I'm goading now! I would take the risk.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:16

Actually it is our responsibility as a business to make sure customers are following the guidelines or we will be fined.

How do you police this 100percent?

Orangeblossom7777 · 28/11/2020 14:17

People should 'take their tier with them'. Right. Can't see that happening.

Lovely.
I wouldn’t say I’m stuck up, but I can read, unlike you.
And I know that businesses cannot be fined for allowing a customer from another tier into their premises.
They can be fined up to £10,000 if they don’t take sufficient contact details for track and trace (email or phone number), or if they take reservations of more than six, or do not enforce social distancing. But they can’t and won’t be fined for something that is not illegal.

Before this lockdown we had to do the same with making sure every customer was out by 10. Make sure they’ve followed track and trace etc. Now we will be making sure customers are from the same household or making sure they are seated outside if not. I’m sure it wouldn’t be complicated for us to ask to see a driving license or form of ID with address on it too if we had to. It’s all new to us but if there are guidelines to follow then we have to follow them don’t we

I never said it was illegal or we’d be fined for it. What I mean is it up to the business whether to turn customers away if they refuse to wear a mask when they aren’t exempt, social distance etc follow other guidelines so the business should have some control over making sure their staff and other customers are safe.
ceeveebee · 28/11/2020 14:33

You literally said that you would be fined!
Anyway, am leaving this thread now as you are annoying me too much

You actually did.

You are probably the only place in the country quizzing your customers to such an extent.

I said following the guidelines or we will be fined as in closing by a certain time and all the other guidelines we can be fined for. I never said we’d be fined for letting people from tier 3 in I just said we are fined for breaking other guidelines

100percentpeachynessa · 28/11/2020 14:45

@LondonlovesLola

We don’t quiz customers lol, other than getting them to do track and trace and those requirements. All I was saying is it would be possible for businesses to be even more careful if they had to/wanted to
LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:47

100percent

You also said: So tier 3 could technically even travel to a tier 1 area as long as they didn’t use amenities that would be closed in their home tier such as restaurants and such.

This is incorrect. Tier 3 GOV.UK guidelines state:
You can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
