Can you eat at a restaurant in another tier?

I can’t find an answer to this online. If for example, you live in a tier 3 area, could you eat out in a tier 2 area.
I know travel from tier to tier unless travelling through, is strongly discouraged, but from what I’ve read, not banned entirely. So, is eating out in another tier discouraged or banned?

Have you read the article? It was nothing to do with who was eating from where it's because of how they served food and drink and social distancing

@LondonlovesLola

100percent

You also said: So tier 3 could technically even travel to a tier 1 area as long as they didn’t use amenities that would be closed in their home tier such as restaurants and such.

This is incorrect. Tier 3 GOV.UK guidelines state:
You can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible

Doesn’t that mean within your own tier? Otherwise what would be point of closing amenities in tier 3 when they can just come here and infect everyone else.
LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:52

100percent: We don’t quiz customers lol, other than getting them to do track and trace and those requirements. All I was saying is it would be possible for businesses to be even more careful if they had to/wanted to

OMG You literally just said:
Before this lockdown we had to do the same with making sure every customer was out by 10. Make sure they’ve followed track and trace etc. Now we will be making sure customers are from the same household or making sure they are seated outside if not. I’m sure it wouldn’t be complicated for us to ask to see a driving license or form of ID with address on it too if we had to. It’s all new to us but if there are guidelines to follow then we have to follow them don’t we

Have you done track and trace?
Are you from the same household?
Can I see ID with address?

SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 14:54

you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through other areas as part of a longer journey

Literally explains which venues or amenities it’s referring to. Also, tier 3 cannot mix households inside or in most outside venues.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:54

Doesn’t that mean within your own tier?
It doesn't elaborate/specify/clarify.
This whole thread goes round and round in circles debating it! :D

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:56

sirflounce
You've joined two bullet points together.

userxx · 28/11/2020 14:56

What a bunch of selfish fuckers. Do you not understand why these systems exist? It will just be never ending. Just keep out of London, will you?

It feels like it's been never ending already, we've been living under local restrictions since around June time.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 14:58

It 'literally* doesn't!

CAN YOU READ I didn’t say we are going to quiz them on where they live!!! I said it wouldn’t be impossible to if we had to, if it becomes enforced like the other guidelines have
SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 15:00

London

And what? The second one is under the first under tier 3 on gov.uk it’s a further explanation. You conveniently missed the explainer off one of your posts.

Because people were saying it would be easy for them to break the rules which it would be if for whatever reason it was to become enforced like the other rules are even to the point where we could get fined then there are simple ways it could be done

'the explainer'? :D

(Meant to put a comma between ‘would be’ and ‘if’)

It will be easy for people to break the rules. You said yourself upthread it can't be policed.
I agree it can't be policed. I don't intend to break the rules but people will which is why the tier system will not work.

SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 15:12

Yes it is.

Do you really teach?

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:15

Do you really teach?

Haha! You obviously don't!

SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 15:18

If you do your arrogant, stupid, and a disgrace to your profession. Good thing you can hide behind MN

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:24

Because I disagree with you? The tier system? Or because I have said that people will interpret the rules how they choose? Or because I have said that people will break the rules regardless?

I have said MANY times upthread that I will be following the rules for my area (tier 3) and will not be eating out or going out socially in tier 2 areas even though I work in one. So it can't be that.

What exactly makes me arrogant, stupid and a disgrace to my profession? Please tell me 'SirFlounce'!

Well I was saying it won’t be policed but it easily could be. Personally I think the tier system is fine. I mean the alternatives are total lockdown which would mean millions more debt for the country, or keep everything open which according to experts would drive the cases back up.
LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:31

Well I was saying it won’t be policed but it easily could be.

Could be, SHOULD be but won't be.
People are selfish pricks.

randomer · 28/11/2020 15:32

How can you possibly know what ‘people’ will do. Most people thankfully are smart enough to understand the reason for the tier system.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 15:41

I obviously haven't done a survey. This thread alone is proof that not everyone is intending to follow the rules for their tier.A lot of people have made that very clear.

SirFlouncealot · 28/11/2020 15:44

Just as many, maybe more have said they will the follow the guidelines. A thread on MN is ‘proof’? You would be an even worse lawyer.
