Sat crying. This isn’t ending or getting better

So sick of this. Back into tier 3. We have followed all the rules. No one in the house since March. I can’t do this all winter. I have two small children and I’m going insane with no family help. People say it’s going to get better but it isn’t. Or it’s months and months away. I can’t stop crying I just want to see my family.

LadyCatStark · 26/11/2020 12:41

I’m done. I’m not fucking doing it. We’re in tier 3 with 153 cases per 100000. Lancaster is in tier 3 with 92. They can fucking fuck right off and then fuck off some more and I’m not usually swearer.

Jrobhatch29 · 26/11/2020 12:43

@Inkpaperstars

Lots of people don’t even have a granny to kill.

I'm sorry, I know that sentence shouldn't be funny Grin.

But if you'd told me pre covid that the above would be a sentence of mumsnet I am not sure what I would have thought was happening.

🤣 Imagine

Tier 2. We were Tier 1. And our numbers are low. However I suspect it is because we are in between a couple of areas with higher case rates.

It is really hard. I have to try and find the silver linings. I can now meet a couple of my friends in a garden for a glass of wine/ coffee.

This will end. We just have to slog through it.

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 26/11/2020 12:44

So pissed off - our local authority has one of the lowest rates in the country but we're in Kent so tier 3. At least the shops and the hairdressers are open!

userxx · 26/11/2020 12:45

The whole killing granny thing sounds like its been taken from Facebook. Cringe.

Nc135 · 26/11/2020 12:46

I saw my mum and dad yesterday. Outside and distanced. Am now waiting for the vaccine to be rolled out so I can give them a big hug again. See
your family but just keep your distance. It’s shit.

It's also kind of odd given that men are more at risk - why doesn't anyone care about grandpa?!
SuperbGorgonzola · 26/11/2020 12:46

@PawsAndPhytoncides

Rather than blaming people who want to interact like normal human beings, how about blaming a government who thinks it's ok that we have one of the lowest ITU beds per head of population in Europe? Who have literally handed over funds to their mates as jobs or contracts? Who encouraged zero hours contracts and have families living in poverty who feel they can't afford to self isolate if needed?

This cannot be said often or loud enough.

Anyone falling for "it's all the public's fault for being naughty" rhetoric is playing straight into their hands.

Absolutely. 0.002% of people in my city have tested positive in the last week and we're in Tier 2.

I do get that it needs to be kept as low as possible but the narrative that "everyone is breaking the rules" just isn't true or fair.

Originalyellowbelly · 26/11/2020 12:46

I live in a rural village and we have gone from tier 1 to tier 3, higher than London or Liverpool. I have been shielding since march, been into a shop 3 times, hardly seen any of my family. It's just me and DH here and he has been working from home since march so have been together almost every minute since then, we are sick of the sight of each other and I don't think I can take much more of this with no light at the end of the tunnel.

Els1e · 26/11/2020 12:49

💐 Big hug. It is a tough time to be a parent with young children. I keep telling myself this time will pass but right now that seems so distant.

You are exactly right with this. I have said before, and will maintain though that this is exactly what the government wanted. If they can convince people to start pointing fingers at each other then the blame shifts. I have no time or patience for anyone calling people selfish for wanting to engage in normal human behaviour.

According to Gov website :Tier positions will be reviewed every 14 days.

First lie already, they've stated the next review is on the 16th December, 3 weeks away.

I rather expect Kent has been put into tier 3 because of the expected trouble from 1st Jan due to Brexit.

tortoiseshell1985 · 26/11/2020 12:52

Our area never came out of restrictions then went into tier 3 this has been our lives since March

Viviennemary · 26/11/2020 12:52

It's utterly soul destroying. I'm writing to my MP later. All those jobs and livelihoods shot to pieces. Mps ruining people's lives.

I think the 16th is the date because it is 14 days after the tiers come into force (2nd Dec). That's the 14 day period they are referring to.
muddyford · 26/11/2020 12:53

Our local authority area is in the lowest ten areas for infection, but we are lumped in Tier 2 with the rest of the county. I was hoping to see my family before Christmas but now we'll be going over the Christmas period. With the rest of the country. Total bummer.

userxx · 26/11/2020 12:54

Fair point!!! No one gives two shits about grandpa - poor sod.

Itwillendintiers · 26/11/2020 12:54

Things WILL get better. There is a vaccine coming very soon for the most vulnerable, and sometime next year for the rest of us. The spring bulbs are already showing their heads. The shortest day is only three weeks away. It is utterly, utterly shit right now and we just have to slog through it day by day and get to the other end. And take vitamin D if you don't already, it will help stop you getting sick and make you feel a bit brighter generally

Thank you Smile for the positive reminders.
Plus people against restrictions do have a Christmas relatively free of restrictions to look forward to...

marriednotdead · 26/11/2020 12:54

I think my teacher DD summed it up pretty well for me.
'On the surface it looks ok. All the schools are open, we can go to work, get essentials and enjoy our homes. However all the fun/nice stuff that we work for is banned or closed. This pandemic has taken away all the joy so we are currently existing rather than living.'

Seems trite when my mother says 'everything passes' but she's right. Wish it would bloody hurry up though.

Scottishgirl85 · 26/11/2020 12:54

It is hard. But I'm not sure why anyone thought this was going to be over quickly. Imo a vaccine was always going to be the way out. It will be over, just not quite yet. Keep going Flowers

Noname99 · 26/11/2020 12:55

fedup2017
Thank you. I simply can not believe how selfish people are in here. But of course they’ve had theirs so it’s ok. Had their summer holidays, first holiday with friends rather than parents, been to their first festival/gig, had their 18th birthday, had freshers week or first job where you work to Friday and party the weekend away with your mates, had their first house share/been to university. So they can happily dismiss it all as unimportant. Selfish selfish people..... & for those that are hard of thinking, 1% is a tiny minority of the fucking country and for under 30 the percentage is so small it barely even exist. So yes, a tiny minority of people are seriously affected and yet the vast majority are paying dearly with time they can never get back.

Nunoftheother · 26/11/2020 12:56

@onedayinthefuture

See your family, I am. Chances are you'll see them and none of you will even have Covid at that point in time.
FFS.

Why are you special?

userxx · 26/11/2020 12:57

@Scottishgirl85 I just wanted tier 2 so i can go to the pub. Not much to ask is it? I can live with everything else.
