Sat crying. This isn’t ending or getting better

So sick of this. Back into tier 3. We have followed all the rules. No one in the house since March. I can’t do this all winter. I have two small children and I’m going insane with no family help. People say it’s going to get better but it isn’t. Or it’s months and months away. I can’t stop crying I just want to see my family.

It's depressing when we are doing all we can, and the cases around us still go up because people aren't being as careful

I don't think that's the case at all. I know loads of people who have caught it recently. Every single one caught it at work, not because they weren't being careful.

pinkearedcow · 26/11/2020 13:22

I feel for you all, I really do.

I am in Wales and we are waiting to see what sort of axe is going to fall on us in the run up to Christmas.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 26/11/2020 13:22

@HunterHearstHelmsley

I feel for you. We were tier 1 pre lockdown and looking to be tier 3 now.. so lockdown has made it worse. Utterly fed up.
Same here! Sad
fromdownwest · 26/11/2020 13:23

@dreamingbohemian - Or the Labour government in Wales who have decimanted the NHS Wales, and reduced bed counts by 12k, and the control power leader North of the border.

This is not a Tory issues, this exposes how inept ALL of our political parties are, red blue or yellow.

We need a viable alternative to show them with our votes, what we think of them.

Will the Christmas amnesty help?
Dreamylemon · 26/11/2020 13:24

The news has felt like a blow today, even though I suspected the restrictions would go on for some time. People are tired. It's now 8 months in.

There is light at the end of the tunnel though. We have at least 3 vaccines which have shown to be effected. Some of those doses have already been made. They need approval before they roll out but I think there will be people vaccinated by end of Dec 2020 in NHS and care homes. Even having some of the population vaccination will be a gamer changer.

I'm hoping sime normality will return as spring starts to blossom.

Hope you feel better soon

@fromdownwest

I think the cruel nature is the infite changing of the goalposts, if we lock down in May it will allow us to get back to normal summer, if we lock down in summer, it will allow a 'safe' winter, if we lock down in winter, then next year will be all sh*ts and giggles.

Just accept that lockdowns do not work, and let people make informed decisions themselves. This is a tyrannical of power and control, that no elected democratic government (s) should be allowed to impose upon a nation.

An absolute disgrace

Absolutely agree.

wildbarnet · 26/11/2020 13:24

@PawsAndPhytoncides

Rather than blaming people who want to interact like normal human beings, how about blaming a government who thinks it's ok that we have one of the lowest ITU beds per head of population in Europe? Who have literally handed over funds to their mates as jobs or contracts? Who encouraged zero hours contracts and have families living in poverty who feel they can't afford to self isolate if needed?

This cannot be said often or loud enough.

Anyone falling for "it's all the public's fault for being naughty" rhetoric is playing straight into their hands.

So true
fromdownwest · 26/11/2020 13:24

@dreamingbohemian - From what Drakeford said yesterday, I think that we will 'pay' severley for the '5 day gift' he is very kindly besowing upon his subjects over Christmas.

justasking111 · 26/11/2020 13:24

Do not kill granny, statistically grandad is at higher risk.

We have cared for two lots of grand children since welsh lockdown lifted, mums and dads had to work. We are still here.

@Napqueen1234 and others if you believe your parents have been careful as have you, then see them.

islockdownoveryet · 26/11/2020 13:27

The way i see it I'm going to see my mum social distancing for a coffee at my house. I'm not seeing anyone else nor is she so .
I'm sorry if it's against the rules but it's insane that I go to work or shop which is ridiculous busy but I can't meet my mum at a social distance for a coffee .
I'm in Manchester we've had these ridiculous restrictions since August it's hard to keep at it .
I'll be careful we won't hug and like I said I don't see anyone else .
You have to trust who you see that doesn't mix with others .
I refuse to wait even longer to see my mum tiers or no tiers .
I'm not bloody waiting till the 27th thanks Boris .

wildbarnet · 26/11/2020 13:27

I have had enough to the point of not caring anymore ! If I hear Hancock again with his sayings I will flip

My mum was going into depression so I have let her see the kids ... it was too heartbreaking to see as she had them every day whilst I am at work

Can't see this ever ending

Same, I know a fair few people who have had it this month and they’re all so careful. I think they all got it from work or their partner (who got it from work). They all wash their hands, don’t break the rules and wear their masks. I know 2 people who have died from this so far and the restrictions are grinding me down so much now. Tier 3 again. Fuck this. I think Christmas is keeping people going at the moment and I dread January because it’s already a very depressing month anyway and I think people will be hit so so hard.

I’m so sorry for anyone in hospitality in particular, these tiers are just screwing so much up right now.

Another one applauding this. It's true.

We seem to be suffering a double-whammy of an inept government - and a society comprised of people unable to think yet with plenty to say in their impotent attempts to regulate other people.

MadameBlobby · 26/11/2020 13:32

It’s totally shit and I am hugely cynical about the necessity of the restrictions at the stated levels, gov in thrall to SAGE who have been OTT on most things. But it will end of course it will. Hang in there.

Fair enough but I'm not thinking just about the NHS here, I'm thinking about the entire government response, which is down to the Tories.

For example, lots of happy noises about mass testing in Liverpool but apparently in the neighbourhoods most at risk, less than 10% of residents have been tested -- and why? Because these are people on low wages, zero hours, etc and they cannot afford to self-isolate if they test positive. That is down to the government not having policies in place to pay people who are self-isolating (something that other countries have managed to do).

The people most at risk at getting covid at work all the food retail, delivery drivers, warehouse workers are the people who can't afford to self-isolate, if the government could address that, it would help a lot.

I'm so sorry for all of you in Tier 3, it's absolute rubbish and you have every right to be angry.

earthyfire · 26/11/2020 13:36

Sick of it too, just went to the supermarket and it was sardine packed on a weekday, it made me wonder if everyone's at the supermarket because there isn't really anywhere else to go?!

GabsAlot · 26/11/2020 13:36

all sho0ps open so try and go there if you can just for a change and have you arranged to see yur family for xmas op

justasking111 · 26/11/2020 13:39

Merthyr Tydfil had mass testing at the weekend, did the number of tests rise did they heck. They said the army would help. Well unless they went door to door dragging folk out it would make not a scintilla of difference.

fromdownwest · 26/11/2020 13:40

@earthyfire - It is my weekly luxury, the only time I get to see other people. Tragically true though. I feel a small sense of normality when I do my weekly shop.

MrsJBaptiste · 26/11/2020 13:41

For those of you who haven't met up with friends for months or not had anyone in your house since March, why not? A genuine question!

We haven't all been in the Tier 3 restrictions for months (although I know some people have) so has there not been a time where you coukd have had a walk with friends? Family over for a coffee? Drinks in the garden over the summer?

I must admit it's all a bit hazy as to when lockdowns have been and when we've been 'allowed' to do certain things but I haven't been stuck in the house since March. I had to shield for the first 12 weeks and that was bad enough?

Pinkroses87 · 26/11/2020 13:41

We’re in tier 2 and the local hospital has almost no cases. All the little local businesses are finally going to throw in the towel. So much is being lost for what?

Even when meet ups were allowed they were supposed to be socially distanced, and that is very hard with young children.
