Anyone else find this slightly dystopian now ?

We may be 'allowed' to see families etc. Over Christmas but should be expected to 'pay' for this with subsequent lockdowns, and hugging will be banned.

Now, there's talk of a 'freedom pass' for people who test negative twice a week to allow them to live a more normal life, which they will be able to present should they be stopped and questioned.

What's coming next, having to show proof of vaccination status ?
I'm no conspiracy theorist and i'm fully aware that Covid is real.

Why are we willing to give up our old lives like this ?

I am puzzled that I probably can't spend an hour indoors with my sister, though we have both had covid , but I can go out to eat at a restaurant with several people and my nephew can work in a bar.

Matt Hancock ... said there would be a shift to an emphasis on "personal responsibility" rather than social distancing restrictions after Easter - once the vaccine has reached the most vulnerable people

It's about the only thing he's ever said that I agree with - though of course he'll probably be saying something else by Friday

But then, among the lies, hyperbole and all the rest, personal responsibility's what some of us have used from the start

Youkiddingme that sounds unusual, what kind of non-compliance is going on in your area and how do you know about it? Are the police trying to do anything about it?

I don’t understand the Nightingale hospitals. Did they not clock they wouldn’t have the staff to fill them?

Complete waste of money. That money could have gone in to schools. To make them safer. Or just elsewhere in the NHS.

PR stunt @Delatron

"While it is legitimate to criticise politicians, the idea that they are just stupid when it comes to economic decisions is totally absurd. Unless of course you do actually believe in the conspiracy theories..."

No, I don't believe the conspiracy theories but it is far from absurd to call people stupid when they do very stupid things, regardless of whether they are politicians or not.

Simple logic tells me what is being done is suicidal and only the stupid or the ideologically possessed would pursue such disastrous policies. It's not as if the result of them isn't already being felt and much worse is to come.

According to the local council website over 100 breaches by local companies and a smaller number of fines. 3 firms in our immediate area we know completely ignored all lockdowns (and yes there were outbreaks which put us in higher category earlier on). The lack of social distancing and lack of face masks is evident when you go anywhere and commented on by local FB groups (some complaining about it, other's being defiant). I know of one person who got stopped by police during first lockdown, otherwise, no idea. I am between two cities, one of which has just dropped from 3X national rate to 2X while other is still rising.

@hamstersarse I agree. The media/social media has a lot to answer for.
