Quarantino that is high, I wonder how many staff there are in a big hospital, I mean 500 could be all of them or 10%, I've got no clue.

Of course if they are opening the Nightingale they must be finding staff from somewhere.

Quarantino · 25/11/2020 23:09

Cabin crew...

Quarantino · 25/11/2020 23:10

(That was what was being reported in March at least!)

Danglingmod · 25/11/2020 23:14

I'd like to know staffing size of a medium sized hospital, too.

Ours is reporting 1000+ staff off sick or self-isolating.

ancientgran · 25/11/2020 23:18

I think cabin crew would be a great help but I think they'd need quite a lot of qualified people.

Staff numbers are in the NHS stats, you can download here: digital.nhs.uk/data-and-information/publications/statistical/nhs-workforce-statistics/june-2020.
A large hospital is say 3000 staff, 2000 of those being clinicians, you can see details by CCG of the breakdown. Clinicians are hardest to substitute, easier with porters, cleaners, admin booking staff, security etc.

I am just looking at annual death figures. Added total deaths from last 4 years from ons.. However i also have this data and it is quite different. Which is correct? www.statista.com/statistics/281488/number-of-deaths-in-the-united-kingdom-uk/

MRex · 26/11/2020 08:31

2019 may not be complete for some delayed or long inquests; it's worth noting that the deaths in UK are summed based on the date registered rather than the date they occurred. But they look identical to me (assuming you multiply by 1000!).

ONS www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/datasets/vitalstatisticspopulationandhealthreferencetables
Year: United Kingdom / England and Wales
2018: 616,014 / 541,589
2017: 607,172 / 533,253
2016: 597,206 / 525,048
2015: 602,782 / 529,655

Statista:
2018: 616.01
2017: 607.17
2016: 597.21
2015: 602.78

MRex · 26/11/2020 08:33

Sorry, forgot to say - I included the England and Wales figures, did you pick those up by mistake and then UK on Statista?
(I've done such things many times and sat staring at numbers being confused.)

MarshaBradyo · 26/11/2020 09:55

Just checked. It’s nice to see falls in the two areas we use a lot.

Good to see same in many in the fab charts.

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:25

Does anyone have the link to where the tier decision for each area is? Being covered on bbc news now.

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:28

Found it and of course it’s experiencing technical difficulties

PrayingandHoping · 26/11/2020 11:30

Do u have the link @boys3 ?

I can only find the text of rules....

PrayingandHoping · 26/11/2020 11:34

www.gov.uk/find-coronavirus-local-restrictions

Finally found it. Can't get it to work though 🙄

Bbc just said Kent is tier 3....

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:45

Just Isle of Wight and Cornwall in tier 1 by the looks of things

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:47

And no distinction within county council areas Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk Hampshire, Sussex east and west, Surrey, Oxfordshire Gloucestershire Devon all tier 2

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:49

Lancashire, Leicestershire Staffordshire Warwickshire Lincolnshire Nottinghamshire Derbyshire all tier 3

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:51

Kent, Bristol, south Gloucestershire, North Somerset, slough, medway all tier 3

PrayingandHoping · 26/11/2020 11:54

@ancientgran Weston has been put in tier 3!

ceeveebee · 26/11/2020 11:54

Greater Manchester, newscastle tier 3 too

ceeveebee · 26/11/2020 11:54

Liverpool tier 2

boys3 · 26/11/2020 11:55

Brum, all of north east, greater Manchester, Blackpool, Blackburn, Westt and South Yorkshire , derby, Leicester, Nottingham Stoke Coventry Solihull slough all tier 3. Meaning anywhere I’ve missed in this and previous must be tier 2
