@FrangipaniBlue

Interesting that the most common year groups/year groups with frequent or multiple times in isolation seem to be the older end y11/12/13......

Why are this age group getting it more frequently?

Agree. Out of my y10's 3 isolations, none are from his form. All 3 are from options group classes.

Yorkshire

Yr9x1 (plus another set of yr9 close contacts that didn’t include mine)
Yr6x0

Both DH and I are teachers and we’ve both had cases at our schools but just far enough away to not have to isolate yet. DH has come closest with a case in his class that has wiped out half the group but at the back of the class so he’s not affected Confused

covetingthepreciousthings · 09/11/2020 07:56

Preschool - 4 x isolation (3 due to household symptoms & 1 due to bubble)

Year 4 - 3 x isolation

Aragog · 09/11/2020 10:41

South Yorkshire

Within the past 4 weeks every single class at my infant school has had to close - 9 classes. At least 11 staff have tested positive, several parents and now some children.

starrynight19 · 09/11/2020 11:16

This thread really does show how unfair the current system is though. Lots of kids with no isolation periods at all, yet others have had to isolate 3-4 times already. Yet they'll sit the same exams either way.

Yes this Sad

This thread is an absolute eye opener re the North/South divide!

And this to Sad

Primary school no cases.

Ds1 once
Ds2 not yet tbh I'm surprised it's not more

duggeeallday · 09/11/2020 12:07

NW
DD year 9- twice
DD year 8 - twice
DS year 8 - once
They are the times they've had to isolate for 2 weeks because of contact with a positive case.

CMOTDibbler · 09/11/2020 12:10

West Midlands, ds in y10 has started his first isolation today as he has a close contact at school who has tested positive

middleager · 09/11/2020 12:15

More than 20 staff are isolating at one of our primaries.

Within this North/South divide, sits the West Midlands and our schools are being hammered right now.

wigglywormx · 09/11/2020 12:47

Scotland, DD has had to isolate once, P7 which I think is Y6 equivalent in England. As far as I'm aware there has only been the one case within the school since opening in August. But numbers are higher now than ever.

NormaSnickers · 09/11/2020 12:58

Norfolk

Yr4 DS is isolating with the rest of his class due to a classmate testing positive. No other episodes of isolation in his Primary school since they went back in Sept.

Ds yr 11 0 which I am very surprised about as it’s a big high school and they all cram on school buses to get there - we have complained to the bus company mp etc

Dd a university house share had a near miss as she was at home when her flat mate got symptoms and tested positive

motherrunner · 09/11/2020 17:18

Update to my original contribution. We have now had to send 3 year groups home as we can not staff our school.

DD yr 11 had to isolate as another child in her class was positive. 2 days later DD developed cold like symptoms, got her tested and she's positive.

DD yr 8 another student tested positive, she went back for 1 week and now sibling is positive.

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 09/11/2020 17:38

South Yorkshire - year 10 -0

duggeeallday · 10/11/2020 21:11

An update to my contribution to this thread. DD who is in year 8 is now on her 3rd period of isolation. She's been back just over a week since her last period of isolation. So in off two weeks (one was half term but she had to stay inside) in for a week and now off for another 2. I feel really sorry for her tonight.

Sewsosew · 10/11/2020 21:25

DD yr7 - 0

There were multiple bubbles from her school sent home and she seems to have missed it. It’s also gone very quiet since half term.
However another local school (NE) is really struggling and half the school is currently off and loads of teachers have all tested positive (at the same time!).

GlomOfNit · 11/11/2020 00:09

SE (well, Oxfordshire).

Child 2 had to miss a few days when we went back in June.

Since September :

Child 1 has not had to isolate at all in year 8 bubble at Secondary. I think they've had 3 cases in yr 13 there.

Child 2 until now has been fine, but now two classroom bubbles have cases so half the school is off and the other half will return on rotation because they need a higher staff-student ratio.

In this area, cases affecting schools significantly are only just being reported. It felt like we were dodging a bullet for ages but our time is definitely up.
